From Byunghun's somewhat formal but rather casual appearance.. could he be coming straight from the airport? Could he be in NOLA the past weekend? rubes thinks too much, of course. Nonetheless, BH looks good and happy (albeit a bit tired) at the event.

Korean Actor Lee Byung-Hun Accepts Prestigious Asia Pacific Screen Award
Source: MarketWired
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA--(Marketwired - Jun 3, 2014) - Korean actor Lee Byung-hun has received the 2013 Asia Pacific Screen Award (APSA) for Best Performance by an Actor for his dual performance in the blockbuster Masquerade, after missing last year's APSA ceremony due to film commitments.
Honoured at an event at the Australian Embassy in Seoul, Mr Lee was also inducted into the prestigious Asia Pacific Screen Academy -- a growing body of 650 respected filmmakers -- in front of Academy members and leading representatives from the Korean film industry, including producer and 2013 APSA FIAPF Award winner Lee Choon-yun.
The Asia Pacific Screen Awards are held annually in Brisbane, Australia, which is also the host city for the upcoming 2014 G20 Leaders' Summit.
Brisbane-based APSA Chairman Michael Hawkins was in Seoul to present Byung-hun with his award and said APSA was very proud of its strong relationship with the Republic of Korea's film industry.
"We value the opportunity to honour Mr Lee in his home country, which is a key player in the Asia Pacific region and produces high quality films which are very well represented in competition at APSA every year," Mr Hawkins said.
"Over the past seven years, more than 100 Korean films have competed at APSA, winning 14 individual awards.
"Lee Byung-hun has received this award -- his first APSA win -- for his two starring roles, as a king and acrobat in Masquerade, which was the fourth highest-grossing Korean film of all time, grossing more than $US80 million.
"We are truly honoured to formally present Mr Lee with his unique winner's vessel in person."This year's Asia Pacific Screen Awards will be held on Thursday 11 December, a month after Brisbane hosts the 2014 G20 Leaders' Summit, of which the Republic of Korea is a member.
Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said preparations for both events were well underway.
"The G20 Leaders' Summit will be the most important gathering of world leaders ever held in Australia, with members representing around 85 per cent of global GDP, more than 75 per cent of global trade and two-thirds of the world's population," Cr Quirk said.
"Brisbane is Australia's new world city, a rising star in the Asia Pacific and a key economic development hub.
"It's estimated that 4000 delegates and up to 3000 media representatives will descend on the city in November and for two days Brisbane will be the capital of the world.
"Already considered a world class destination for business, tourism and education, the 2014 G20 Leaders' Summit provides a once-in-a-generation chance for Brisbane to step up and take its place among the emerging new world cities of the 21st century."
Brisbane-based APSA partner Griffith University Film School is currently collaborating with Dankook University (Republic of Korea) and Beijing Film Academy (People's Republic of China) on an unprecedented initiative which will bring together master student filmmakers from across the region to develop a cross-border feature film project which will be shot in Brisbane.
The initiative was founded by APSA Patron Kim Dong-ho who is Dean of Dankook University's Graduate School of Cinematic Content.
Professor Hong-Joon Kim is the current Chairman of the APSA International Nominations Council and there have been four representatives from the Republic of Korea on the International Jury: Kim Dong-ho (2007), producer Hanna Lee (2008), director Gina Kim (2009) and writer/director Kim Tae-yong (2013).The Korean Film Producers Organisation also works closely with APSA as a Member Organisation. For more information on the awards visit www.asiapacificscreenacademy.com

Terminator: Genesis 1984 Car Chase Caught On Camera!
Author: Gavin Singleton | SCIFIED
Last week a call sheet from Terminator: Genesis was leaked detailing a scene which featured a Brinka armored truck and LAPD police patrol car, the scene was to feature the characters Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke), Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) and allegedly a T-1000 played by Byung-Hun Lee in the guise of a police officer. there was also mention on the call sheet of a character called Guardian - presumably Arnolds aged Terminator character. After posting the news of the call sheet we were asked by Paramount Pictures to remove the image.
It seems, thanks to images shown in the UK newspaper the Daily Mail, that the call sheet was in fact genuine with the below images showing the filming of a car chase scene featuring the stunt doubles for Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney and (although we can only see the back of their head) Byung-Hun Lee. Presumably The T-800 is driving the Brinka truck, much as he did in the iconic SWAT van/Helicopter chase from Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

[size=2]

If Byung-Hun Lee's casting as a T-1000 is genuine, which would seem to be the case with the above pictures matching those described in the aforementioned call sheet, then this would mean that this new T-1000 was sent back to 1984 after Robert Patrick's T-1000 was sent to 1994 (Terminator 2). This is due to the fact, as hardcore fans will be quick to remind, that Robert Patrick's T-1000 was an advanced prototype, and as such was the only one of his kind. Any subsequent T-1000's would have to have been sent back post July 11th 2029 (the date the first T-800, Kyle Reese, the reprogrammed T-800 and the prototype T-1000 were sent back to their respictive times of 1984 and 1994).

Introducing The Man In Your Life To K-Dramas
BY Julie Jones | KDramaStars.com
If the amount of time you spend watching k-dramas is starting to interfere with your relationship, there's only one solution. Get  the man in your life to watch k-dramas with you.
There's no need to give up the person you love for the entertainment you love.
Your boyfriend may not realize how entertaining k-dramas can be and assume they are all about romance. While k-dramas do deliver some of the best romantic moments, there are plenty that will also appeal to viewers who love action, science fiction themes or concern themselves primarily with male characters.
Here are a few that he may appreciate:
"City Hunter": Of all of Lee Min Ho's dramas, this one offers the most entertaining action. It's gritty, fast paced and action driven. Lee Min Ho plays a character that was raised to fulfill his adoptive father's mission but finds that the goal is not as righteous as he imagined. He must question his purpose in life and decide whether he wants to be a pawn in his adoptive father's revenge.
gallery6_1.jpg

"IRIS": One of the most expensive Korean dramas ever made, it stars Lee Byung Hun and Kim Tae Hee as members of Korea's National Security Services. The two agents find themselves at the center of an international conspiracy plotted by the military society known as IRIS. The society seeks to prevent the reunification of the Korean Peninsula. They have no qualms about sacrificing the agent played by Lee Byung Hun. The series was so successful, it led to a feature film, spin off and a sequel.
gallery11_1.jpg

"Phantom": This police drama, starring So Ji Sub and Daniel Choi, takes place largely in the cyber world. The search for clues in a mysterious death leads to a policeman and his former friend, a hacker, switching identities. To uncover the crime, the hacker hero named Hades must follow a trail of corruption that leads to some prominent places.
A Gentleman's Dignity: This comedy, starring Jang Dong Gun, is about the lives of four forty-something professional men. One is a playboy who falls in love only to be rebuffed for the first time in his life. Another is a lawyer whose wife died four years ago. It has taken him a long time to fall in love again. Another man is married to a rich woman but his flirting causes problems in his marriage. To make things even more interesting, a teenager comes to Korea looking for his father. He is sure it's one of these four men.
Once you can get your guy to watch a few k-dramas, you will never have to worry about how to spend your time together again. Are there any other k-dramas you would suggest for the men in your life? Let us know.

Our thanks to mistymorning for the gist of Byunghun's APSA speech

1401767006_708535.jpg

Lee Byung Hun mentioned that he couldn't go last year to Brisbane for the awards ceremony because of shooting schedule in Korea. He said that 'Masquerade' seems to bring him a lot of happiness. Sidetracked about Brisbane, BH also said that he likes it there. His speech ended with saying that when people called him a world star, he doesn't feel like it, but he understood that it meant for him to try and work even harder.

South Korean actor Lee Byung-hun has belatedly received the 2013 Asia Pacific Screen Award (APSA) for Best Performance by an Actor for his dual performance in the 2012 historical film Masquerade.
The G.I. Joe: Retaliation and RED 2 star missed last year's ceremony due to work commitments.
Chairman of the Brisbane-based APSA Michael Hawkins presented Lee with his award at an event at the Australian Embassy in Seoul, where the 43-year-old actor was also inducted into the Asia Pacific Screen Academy.
Hawkins said: "We value the opportunity to honour Mr Lee in his home country, which is a key player in the Asia Pacific region and produces high quality films which are very well represented in competition at APSA every year."
It was the first APSA award for Lee, who plays a king and acrobat in Masquerade, the fourth highest-grossing South Korean film of all time. It raked in more than US$80 million (S$100.5 million) in box office earnings.

Movie Review: Joint Security Area (2000) by refresh_daemonhttp://www.dramabeans.com/2014/06/movie-review-joint-security-area-2000/

joint-security-area-aff-01-g.jpg
When Joint Security Area (2000) came out in theaters, it quickly became the most successful Korean film until that point, surpassing Shiri’s immense success the past year. And like Shiri, JSA is also a story about North-South relations and features an already successful cast (even sharing a major actor) that would go onto even greater — even international — success.

Joint Security Area features the talents of Lee Byung-heon, who has been in a number of hugely successful Korean films as well as Hollywood hits like G.I. Joe and RED 2. Playing across from him is Song Kang-ho, an equally successful actor who was recently in the international co-production, Snowpiercer. And between them is Lee Young-ae, who became a household name in China with the success of Jewel in the Palace, in which she played the title character.
And while his cast might have already garnered popularity through their previous film and television work, Joint Security Area would prove to be writer-director Park Chan-wook’s career-making film. Now he is also no stranger to international fame, having since made a cult hit with Oldboy (remade by Spike Lee just last year) and recently getting his first Hollywood directorship with Stoker.
But inasmuch as the rising stars of the cast helped, Joint Security Area like became a hit for similar reasons as Shiri: the North-South story. Let me explain.

Jo Seung-woo and Lee Byung-heon become political Insiders by girlfridayhttp://www.dramabeans.com/2014/06/jo-seung-woo-and-lee-byung-heon-become-political-insiders/

JoSeungWoo_LeeByungHeon1.jpg
Well I’m suddenly very interested in this movie. Lee Byung-heon (RED: The Legend, Masquerade) will be starring in the dark political thriller Insiders, and Jo Seung-woo (God’s Gift-14 Days) has just signed on to join him. That’s a hell of a match-up from two very charismatic actors; plus, there’s so much pretty, I don’t know where to look.
The movie is an adaption based on the webtoon Insiders from star writer Yoon Tae-ho (Misaeng, Moss), and will be directed by Woo Min-ho (Spies). The story is about the movers and shakers behind political corruption, in particular shedding light on how deep the corruption goes in all facets of society.
Lee Byung-heon plays the gangster employed by crooked politicians to do all their dirty work, and Jo Seung-woo has been cast to play a prosecutor who bends over when told to bend over, and covers up what he’s told to cover up. He’s described as the “corrupt politician’s sniper,” and I’ve seen enough dramas to believe that a prosecutor really is the best weapon that evil people in power could have. I guess two full dramas spent being a good guy means it’s time for Jo Seung-woo to flex his bad boy movie muscles again. I won’t complain, but after… more dramas, right?
Insiders starts shooting this summer for a release next year.

On June 3, actor Lee Byung-hun belatedly received the 2013 Asia Pacific Screen Award (APSA) for Best Performance by an Actor.
Lee received his trophy at the Australian embassy in Korea, located in Gwanghwamun, central Seoul, for his performance in 2012's “Masquerade," known in some markets as, "Gwanghae: The Man Who Became King."
“The awards were held in Brisbane last year, but I was unable to make it because of my filming schedule. I am grateful to them for having set up such a special occasion to mark my award,” said Lee.

“People call me a world-class actor, but it sounds like someone else, not me. It sounds more like their wishes that I would become a world-famous actor, so I will do my best to meet their expectations and make good films,” Lee said. 20140603_88.jpg

Much appreciation to p.v. wong for sharing this wonderful news! Lee Byung Hun established his Weibo web page. Good news everyone. p.v. wong advised me tonight that BH established his web page on Weibo on June 3. (Weibo is a social network site in China). To ensure the authenticity of this web page, p.v. wong verified this with her contact at BH Entertainment who confirmed this is BH's web page and has not been used fraudulently by someone else. Furthermore, p.v. Wong commented happily that kis just two days, BH's web page attracted the attention of over 16,000 fans. The link is: http://www.weibo.com/leebyunghun0712 Source: LBHbaidu
