'Terminator: Genesis' begins shooting today in New Orleans
Mike Scott NOLA.com
Arnold Schwarzenegger is back. "Terminator: Genesis," the fifth film in the popular sci-fi action franchise -- and one that comes on the heels of 2009's "Terminator: Salvation," the only film in the series that didn't star Schwarzenegger -- begins principal photography today (April 21) in New Orleans.
"I was upset that I couldn't be in the fourth Terminator, because I was governor (of California)," Schwarzenegger recently told MTV about the prospect of returning to the role that helped make him a household name. "So they did the fourth one without me. It made me cry a little bit -- but I did say, 'I'll be back,' so now I'm back again and it's going to be really terrific."
The film is being directed by "Thor: The Dark World" director Alan Taylor. In addition to Schwarzenegger, it will star Emilia Clarke ("Game of Thrones") as Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke ("Zero Dark Thirty") as John Connor, and Jai Courtney ("A Good Day to Die Hard") as Kyle Reese. They are joined in the cast by Byung-hun Lee ("G.I. Joe: Retaliation"), J.K. Simmons ("Juno"), Sadrine Holt ("House of Cards") and Dayao Okeniyi ("The Hunger Games").
As far as plot details, studio Paramount Pictures is keeping things under wraps, although there's no shortage of rumors and speculation online. Adding to it recently was Schwarzenegger, who in that interview with MTV provided a bit of insight into what the story will entail.
" 'Terminator' deals a lot with time travel, so there will be a younger T-800," he said. "And then what that model does later on when it gets reprogrammed, and who gets ahold of him. So it will be all kinds of interesting twists in the movie, but I feel so good."
It's also worth noting that Okeniyi will be playing Danny Dyson, the son of Miles Dyson, a key character who was played by Joe Morton in "Terminator 2: Judgment Day." It was also in that 1991 blockbuster that audiences first met the character of Danny, then a 7-year-old played by the young actor De Vaughn Nixon.
It's unclear how Danny will figure into the plot of "Terminator: Genesis" or if any other characters from the "Terminator" mythology will figure into the story, although his is described as a lead role.
The "Terminator" films tell the story of a cyborg (Schwarzenegger) who is sent back in time first to kill -- but then to protect -- John Connor, a boy who would grow to become a military leader and a key cog in mankind's fight against an army of sentient machines.
As for Schwarzenegger, he said he's excited to be once more be playing the killer-cyborg-turned-hero, although he admits that the action scenes will probably be a little harder for him this time than they were in 1984's original "Terminator" film.
"It will be challenging because it will be a new director, and it will be a really action-packed movie," Schwarzenegger said. "And sometimes it does get more difficult when you're 66 years old and doing this kind of action, versus when you're in your 30s or in your 40s."
The film, which is reportedly envisioned as the first in a new "Terminator" trilogy, will mark a return to New Orleans for Schwarzenegger. He previously shot the 2013 thriller "Escape Plan" in town with Sylvester Stallone.
The production is scheduled to shoot through Aug. 1, with a planned release date of July 1, 2015.
"Terminator: Genesis" is produced by David Ellison, whose resume includes such titles as "World War Z" and "Star Trek: Into Darkness." Ellison also produced the action sequel "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," which shot in New Orleans in 2011.

By Jin Eun-soo, contributing writer INSIDE Korea JoongAng Daily

One of Korea’s top movie stars Lee Byung-hun has begun shooting for his role in the latest edition of the Terminator franchise, “Terminator: Genesis.”
“Lee left for America last week for filming,” said the actor’s agency, BH Entertainment. “We expect that it will take about a month for the shoot.”
While numerous news outlets from Korea and abroad are reporting that Lee’s role will be significant in the film, the agency was reluctant to say anything about it.
“About the significance of Lee’s character, we are very cautious to say anything about it. We don’t think it’s the right time to disclose it,” said the agency.
The fifth film in the Terminator series is reportedly about the younger days of Kyle Reese, the soldier sent back in time to save Sarah Connor and her unborn son John. Director Alan Taylor, of “Thor: The Dark World” (2013), is at the helm of the film, which will star Arnold Schwarzenegger and Emilia Clarke.

‘Terminator: Genesis’ Begins Production; First Set Images Emerge
Published by Sandy Schaefer Screen Rant
One of the most interesting things about the Terminator franchise is that it has, to date, generally revolved around characters attempting to reboot their own future. Now the filmmakers on the sci-fi series are joining the fun, by rebooting the series’ continuity with the upcoming installment, tentatively known as Terminator: Genesis.
Official details are scarce on the script for the next Terminator movie, though it’s expected that Genesis will return the franchise to its sci-fi/horror roots, based on the backgrounds of screenwriter/producer Laeta Kalogridis (Bionic Woman, Avatar) and writer/director Patrick Lussier (Dracula 2000, Drive Angry), who co-wrote the Genesis screenplay together. Additionally, Arnold Schwarzenegger is starring in the movie as a version of the T-800 model robot seen in previous Terminator films; in this installment, however, Arnold’s age has been incorporated into the character - meaning, the main T-800 seen in Genesis will have an aged bio-exoskeleton (for plot-based reasons that have yet to be explained in full).
Filming is officially underway on what is the fifth Terminator movie overall, in addition to being the first chapter in a planned standalone film trilogy; a developing TV series will further expand the rebooted sci-fi universe and/or fill in the story cracks on forthcoming Terminator movies. Skydance Productions has marked the occasion by releasing an image, showing a slate that properly identifies Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) as the Terminator: Genesis director, in addition to paying respects to the late camera assistant Sarah Jones (who was killed on-set while filming the biopic Midnight Rider).
On a less somber note, images have also emerged from the set of the new Terminator installment (courtesy of The Arnold Fans), with one such photo – included below – depicting Schwarzenegger out of costume. While the iconic action star (who turns 67 this year) has been more willing to show his age in recent films like Escape Plan and Sabotage, here it appears that Arnold is going for his more traditional Terminator look, in terms of his hair color/style. That makes sense enough; an older version of the T-800 probably wouldn’t have much reason to alter its appearance over the years (unless it just got really bored while it wasn’t actively protecting the Connors).
BlwDAXcCMAEz_cM.jpg

Speaking of the Connors, in Terminator: Genesis the Sarah Connor character – mother of dragons humanity’s future savior John Connor – will be portrayed by Emilia Clarke, who’s collaborated with Taylor before when he was still working on HBO’s Game of Thrones TV series. Meanwhile, Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) is portraying the grownup John Connor, Jai Courtney (Divergent) has been cast as Sarah’s guardian-turned lover/John’s father Kyle Reese, and Dayo Okeniyi (The Hunger Games) is playing Danny Dyson – the son of the scientist responsible for developing the technology that eventually gave rise to the artificially-intelligent Skynet.
How all of these characters fit into the Genesis storyline – whatever that may be – remains to be seen. Potential clues about the plot have surfaced, like how J.K. Simmons (Spider-Man) has reportedly been cast an an alcoholic detective, who’s spent years trying to wrap his head around the strange incidents that keep happening in connection to Sarah Connor. There’re also the supporting players to take into consideration, like South Korean action star Byung-hun Lee (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) – who could just as easily be playing another deadly Terminator as he could a regular human.
Terminator: Genesis opens in U.S. theaters on July 1st, 2015.

Terminator: Genesis Begins Production In New Orleans

BY: NICK VENABLE | Giant Freakin Robot
If you happen to be partying in New Orleans right now and you see Arnold Schwarzenegger walking around with part of his face ripped off, don’t worry. You’ve probably just stumbled onto the set of Paramount and Skydance’s Terminator: Genesis, which has officially started the Big Easy portion of its production schedule. Unless, of course, Schwarzenegger actually got into an accident that has nothing to do with the movie. In that case, just call your superiors at Skynet to tell them the threat has been taken care of. The shot of the very first slate seen above comes from Skydance’s official Facebook page, and sets into motion a return to the central concept that James Cameron unleashed on the world 30 years ago. This isn’t an exact reboot or anything, although the ominous “Reboot initiating” line in the post doesn’t do much to mitigate that rumor. Screenwriters Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry) have set the franchise’s characters in a parallel universe where events from the initial timeline have gone in a different direction. At least, that’s what I think is going on. The plotline for Terminator 5 has been kept under wraps since the project was first announced, and the main clues fans have to go on are the characters, and the actors who have been chosen to play them.
Zero Dark Thirty‘s Jason Clarke will play Skynet resister John Connor. His mother Sarah is this time played by Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke. To combat Skynet’s John Connor-erasing strategy, John sends Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back in time to stop the Terminator’s mission. The ages of these characters all seem legit enough to match up with the first film, but then we have Dayo Okeniyi playing Danny Dyson, the son of Skynet creator Miles Dyson (who died in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and Schwarzenegger’s T-800 is an aged version of the one we’ve seen before.
We’re pretty jazzed about Terminator: Genesis, regardless of how it turns out. It already seems like it’ll be less cold than 2009′s Terminator Salvation (and also less Christian Bale-y), and it features a solid supporting cast including Lee Byung-hun (I Saw the Devil), J.K. Simmons (Spider-Man), and Sandrine Holt (Underworld: Awakening). The lengthy production is set to continue until the beginning of August, and you’ll be able to see Terminator: Genesis for yourself when it drives a semi through the front of your local theater on July 1, 2015.

[Movie Behind] Kings Walk Out of History: Hyun Bin, Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun and Ju Ji-hoon
Posted by: psr project Get It K
This post is also available in: Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified)
We can often see Joseon kings in many recent Korean history movies. They are getting younger and more handsome, changing our perceptions about the conventional image of kings. The kings from the movies are all different from tyrants to sincere kings who take great care of the public. Let’s meet the Joseon kings from 4 movies.
<The Fatal Encounter> Hyun Bin plays young Jeongjo (click for image)
‘The Fatal Encounter’ is a movie about Jeongjo, the 22nd ruler of the Joseon Dynasty. The movie focuses on the events happening in the first year since he came to throne. The motif of the movie is the most mysterious and cruelest murderer case in Joseon’s history, ‘정유역변’. The movie describes the political and fatal circumstances surrounding the king.
Jeongjo was the son of Crown Prince Sado who was put to tragic death by his own father. Jeongjo made various attempts to reform and improve the nation of Joseon by nurturing talented people and abolishing the social discrimination. He is one of the Joseon kings who experienced the most dramatic events. Hyun Bin plays Jeongjo, the smart king, who promotes scholastic research and makes sound judgements. Hyun Bin successfully expressed king Jeongjo who had to protect himself from the constant threats of assassination and conspiracy.
<The Face Reader> Lee Jung-jae, the handsome king with absorbing power. (click for image)
Lee Jung-jae’s exquisite acting skills in the movie ‘The Face Reader’ overwhelmed the audience. Grand Prince Suyang later becomes Joseon’s 7th ruler. After Lee Jung-jae played the role, Grand Prince Suyang was at the center of attention. It may be because the character was attractive enough to draw attention.
Grand Prince Suyang snatched the throne from his young nephew Danjong and became the king strengthening the royal authority.
Considering all the characteristics, Lee Jung-jae, who has never played a baddie, created the attractive bad guy, contributing to the popularity of the movie.
%EA%B4%91%ED%95%B4.jpg
<Masquerade> Lee Byung-hun becomes King Gwanghae from Ha-sun
The movie ‘Masquerade’ is a movie about King Gwanghae, who’s played by Lee Byung-hun. The actor plays the double role of King Gwang-hae and acrobat Ha-sun. In the 8th year of King Gwang-hae when the fight for power and political chaos went extreme, Gwang-hae became more aggressive in fear of being killed and found a double in order to avoid the constant threat of assassination.
A humble acrobat who shouldn’t be a king becomes one of Joseon Dynasty. He then changes into a sincere king who takes care of his people. King Gwang-hae’s leadership that leads the public with love not his authority is well described in the movie.
<I Am a King> Ju Ji-hoon as Choong-nyung before becoming King Sejong (click for image)
The movie ‘I Am a King’ comically depicts the events happening for the 3 months before Choong-nyung becomes King Sejong, using fictional imagination. Director Jang Kyu-sung says, “The plot is based on the imagination about the events that might have happened before Sejong becomes the king”. Ju Ji-hoon plays the double role of Grand Prince Choong-nyng and beggar Deok-chil.
In fear of becoming a king, Grand Prince Choong-nyung decides to escape the palace and climbs over a wall. The weak prince who can’t even take care of himself suddenly becomes a beggar and does forced labor and begs people for food. He even gets the ‘straw mat punishment’, where he is wrapped with a straw mat and hit by others with a bat. He then becomes a great king who can understand the tough lives of the public.

Popular Korean film “Joint Security Area” (2000), which starred Song Kang Ho, Lee Byung Hun, and Lee Young Ae, will be produced by KBS as an eight-part drama to be released sometime this September. “Joint Security Area” is a mystery thriller concerning a shooting that takes place in the DMZ. Released in 2000, the film brought over five million to the theaters, and the film was also produced as a musical in 2013.
Kim Yong Soo, the head of the KBS Drama Special team, said, “Once we finish the single-episode drama specials, there will be a short break, after which we will start the drama special series. The [‘Joint Security Area’] drama will have a different feel than the movie.”
Once publication rights have been purchased and casting is finalized, filming for the drama will start sometime mid-July.

On April 22, the movie's production company, Skydance Production, posted a picture of the clapperboard online to announce that the filming for the movie has officially begun.
Lee Byung Hun will be working with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke and other top stars.Arnold Schwarzenegger will be reprising his role as the Terminator once again.
EN Starz reports that Jai Coutrney will be playing Kyle Reese while Jason Clarke will be portraying John Connor.
"Game of Thrones" actress Emilia Clarke will play Sarah Connor. Sandrine Holt of "House of Cards" will be playing Detective Cheung.
J.K. Simmons of "Spiderman" has been cast as an alcoholic detective, who has been struggling to understand the events that are in connection to Sarah Connor, reports Screenrant.

There will reportedly be changes to how the Terminator will be portrayed.

"Terminator 5" has begun filming in Louisiana. The 67-year-old Schwarzenegger was photographed on set with his hair slicked back.
The three-part series will focus on the youth of Kyle Reese, the father of John Connor and love of Sarah Connor.
The film is set to be released on July 1, 2015. "Terminator 5" will be hitting theaters after "Jurassic World" and "Avengers 2: Age of Ultron."
Due to the lack of success with the prior two films in the Terminator series, fans are pinning a lot of hope on the upcoming "Terminator 5."

Comment at LBH DC (thanks to mistymorning for the translation)
- story is well-woven- no character without story and just watching their relationship bloom would be the major fun - sword fighting will be good, to fit for best sword man/woman of the age- production cost is 100 billion won (USD10 million)

Joint Security Area, the drama special by awcoconuts http://www.dramabeans.com/2014/04/joint-security-area-the-drama-special/

jsa_60.jpg
With the musical version of Joint Security Area (JSA) finally debuting late last year (after a three year delay) and ending its moderately successful run this month, it comes as no surprise that yet another iteration of the wildly popular movie (the 2000 film starring Lee Byung-heon, Song Kang-ho and Lee Young-ae catapulted director Park Chan-wook to fame and was the highest grossing film of its time) is in the works.
KBS is preparing a drama special based on the novel DMZ by Park Sang-yeon, on which both the movie and musical versions of JSA were based. A source said that the special is in the early planning stages: KBS is still seeking publication rights from Park Sang-yeon, and tentative assignments are for Park Pil-joo to write the script and Kim Jin-woo to direct (together, the two have a handful of drama specials under their belt).
Once the publication rights have been attained and casting finalized, the drama special will head to production and is anticipated to air this September.
