i've just watched episodes 1-4, and i find myself rooting for gwangpil & youngjin ^__^. at first i expected to favor soohoo more just because of the fact that he's a much better-looking guy than GP, but there's just something about GP that draws me in and makes me like him more<333.

Same here! Maybe it's because of Soohoo personality at the beginning that was such a turn-off....Before the drama started, I was actually rooting for SH + YJ based on the pictures...but GP and YJ seriously have explosive chemistry! Although GP is not the most handsome guy on the block, but there's just something about him that you have to be drawn in.

Before watching the drama, I was browsing the comments about this drama, and a lot of ppl were saying how SH was acting like a brat...and after watching the first couple of episodes today, I now know why. This character personality better change as the series progress because uh, it's not very attractive right now.

Gwang Pil’s smile says a lot about this episode … with enough comedy, tinges of romance, and drama … not to mention, character deconstructing and never ending questions to keep us wracking our brains out, “Powerful Opponents” yet again realizes that it is a romantic comedy first and foremost. We start off feeling for Young Jin… the girl has enough problems in her life. Gwang Pil on the other hand, looked at her not in his usual cold exterior or dry manner, but something with concern… heartfelt almost. But like her, he builds a wall as soon as he can. Quickly, falling into angry tirades with her. Lee Jong Hyuk throughout, nailed it with yet again a nuanced performance. I like how hjkomo kind of compared the layers of his character to the way Jang Hyuk attacked his character in “Robbers”. He seems to be completely fascinated with Young Jin even studying her old album and giving into moments of interaction with her. I think he seems a bit close to being mildly infatuated with her. Lee Jin Wook shines in the scenes when his angst treads on him, when he suddenly talked about his anguish to his sister, he was near-silent but it was effective. His sister silently breaking down with him made the scene more moving. Plus, just with their hidden cries, it’s like you just continuously ask yourself why all this damage. The tension between Gwang Pil and Soo Ho is like a searing knife as I watched them in the family dinner. It was like watching Gwang Pil shrivel up in front of them, and Soo Ho just filled with so much intense hatred for the man who sat across the table. Lee Jong Hyuk, I can feel him just feel so small as he ate that bowl of rice, it’s like I felt being watched and magnified like so… with ten times the hatred put upon me. The daughter may be an adorable addition, but she opens up jolts of mystery yet again into this whole story. I mean is it really as face value as Gwang Pil stole Soo Ho’s girlfriend and had a baby with her? Is this why Soo Ho is disturbed? One of the themes in the story is the father-daughter relationship parallels between Gwang Pil and his daughter, who seem at bliss with family life. And Young Jin and her father, who once were like that but something damaged their relationship. This is one of the prime things that I believe the story will delve upon, and I am glad they are going to becuase I believe these relationships will push the characters to certain arcs. Young Jin should see her old self in the daughter, it seems like she was once a daddy's girl. So far, Soo Ho’s character’s motivation is blurring my lines of real empathy. There are moments when I totally feel for him but his cliché ridden vengeance kind of actions makes me feel frustrated yet again with the character. We end the episode with a lot of questions in mind as layers of mysteries are painted on once again. It almost feels like I’m back to square one. Which is actually a good thing. Deconstructing the characters here is not easy, but the more questions I ask, the more I get drawn in. It is a breath of fresh air to see that TPTB knows that their strength is not to make the best action-packed story, but to tell us A STORY with characters that I am coming to be really invested on. Just as long as they keep this, they are on the right path. It's okay. A lot of people that go there don't realize the kind of trouble d-addicts, WITH S2 and other fansubbers could get into. Especially since whoever hardsubs the episodes for them using WITH S2's subs get rid of the "Please do NOT hardsub and/or stream this episode using our English subtitles." message when they do it, but they leave the "Brought to you by WITH S2 Written In The Heavens Subbing Squad" message, which could wind up getting WITH S2 in trouble. It's almost like they WANT d-addicts and WITH S2 to get in trouble, which is stupid, because then they wouldn't have any fansubs to hardsub with.

I had the same analysis as well! I think the little gal could be SH's daughter instead of GP. There is a big mystery behind this drama. Definately something to do with the SH's sister!

 

 

 

Also agree that SH will try to get YJ from GP just bcos GP likes her - yes revenge! but I would like to add that in the end, SH fell for YJ instead.

For me i don't think so, when the president ask GP if he insisted on GP not to run away but he said firmly that even so he will still go, what kind of a man is that if he knew that the baby the girl's carrying is Soo Ho but still continue on his plans. BTW some of the teasers for ep. 5 is actually for ep. 6 and i hope Soo Ho won't use YJ to get revenge to GP since it's obvious that he likes YJ. I'm still hoping for them to be together in the end.

GP's daughter is so cute! i love her straightforwardness. as usual, CR was great when YoungJin felt ashamed of ending up in a precinct.

YJ has a way of disarming SH thus disrupting his "I am mean and don't mess with me" attitude that I find hilarious. Just love the way SH stops talking mid-sentence and stares at YJ's bruised face that somehow softens his demeanor.
