from an article in kdramastars about k-drama live filming there's a portion where it cited DoTs as one major drama to film its entirety prior to airing and the writer's thought about live filming and pre produced drama.  after reading the whole article it gives me some thoughts about the outcome of DoTs , ready hope the screenwriters/the storyline is really that good !

Live filming or the act of taping an episode alarmingly close to its airtime, is a practice that sets Korean drama apart from its counterpart markets in Hollywood and other parts of Asia, including China. While live taping sometimes yields haphazard results, particularly when scenes are not tightly edited, it allows for real-life feedback from viewers and critics.

With Korean entertainment setting its sights on Hollywood, productions have considered abandoning the practice of live taping. The highly-anticipated series, "Descendants of the Sun," could be ground-breaking, as one of the first major dramas to film its footage, in entirety, prior to airing. 

While "Descendants of the Sun" benefits from the star-power of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, the challenge will be left to its lauded team of screenwriters to create a drama that can withstand the tide of audience feedback.

WowKeren.com - "Descendants of the Sun" has started filming in Greece along two main actors, Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, from the end of September. The production process was kept secret but some fans in Greece managed to trace their shooting location. Let's find anywhere! The plan "Descendants of the Sun" takes up 80 percent of the portion of the story that filming outside Korea. Understandably, the story about the romance of the UN peace troops and volunteers of Doctors Without Borders. Reporting from HanCinema, the production team filming diving in Zakynthos, Arachova and Lemnos in Greece. Zakynthos Zakynthos is an island in the western part of Greece in the Ionian Sea which is a popular tourist destination. There is known by the beauty of the cliffs, caves and crystal clear sea is used for filming. According to Zante Press 24, the script writer Kim Eun Sook was personally liked the island and the mayor of Zakynthos a particularly close relationship with the production team drama "Descendants of the Sun".

I feel the calm that precedes the storm in the atmosphere of the thread   ...but believe me this thread will burn up once the storm begins ( I mean dots of course) ...ohh! “Descendants of the Sun” Sets Broadcasting Date

“Descendants of the Sun” starring Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki is slated to air in February 2016 as the follow-up drama to the current Wednesday-Thursday drama “The Merchant: Gaekju 2015.”

“Descendants of the Sun” is a 100 percent pre-production drama and is under the pressure of having to complete filming by the end of the year due to Chinese broadcasting regulatory policies. The “Descendants of the Sun” is determined to finish post-production work after the completion of filming to get the drama ready to air by first week of February. Since MBC and SBS still have not announced their lineup for the same time slot against “Descendants of the Sun,” fierce competition is anticipated.

Song Hye Kyo, Song Joong Ki and other key actors and crew members headed for Greece at the end of last month. Greece is the backdrop of the drama, the location where the troops are sent overseas. This is where the story begins as the two main characters Song Hye Kyo (Kang Mo Yeon) and Song Joong Ki (Yoo Shi Jin) meet fatefully.

“Descendants of the Sun” is a story of a young soldier and doctor pursuing love and dreams as strangers in a distant land. It’s a melodrama portraying the very essence of life. Song Joong Ki portrays Yoo Shi Jin, captain of the elite special forces. Song Hye Kyo portrays an attractive doctor Kang Mo Yeon.

Legendary writer Kim Eun Sook who was behind the success of “Lovers in Paris,” “Secret Garden,” and “Heirs” and director Lee Ung Bok who directed “Secret,” “School 2013,” and “Dream High” team up for “Descendants of the Sun” drawing much attention of highly anticipating fans.
