This month, she stars alongside Tony Leung and Zhang Ziyi in the Wong Kar-wai-directed martial arts drama flick, The Grandmaster.

But, there’s more to the actress than just her stunning looks and remarkably impressive resume.  For those of you who aren’t in love with her already, here’s some facts about the South Korean beauty that are sure to get you intrigued.

1.  She’s released two photo/photo-essay books: 2011’s Song Hye-Kyo’s Moment and 2012’s It’s Time for Hye-Kyo.

 

2.  Naturally, she’s an advertiser’s dream, starring in ads and CF’s (commercial films) for big-name brands like Laniege, Levi’s, Etude House, and McDonald’s.

 

3.  Like popular actress Han Ga-in, Song Hye-kyo is a VIP.  Not just a Very Important Person, but a fan of Big Bang, whose fans are called “VIP’s.”  In an interview, she mentions how their music gives her “positive energy” and how the group’s “sense of freedom” is something that she enjoys.

Song Hye-kyo Biography

When Song Hye-kyo was born, she was sick and her parents and doctor thought she would never make it. Miraculously Hye-kyo survived and her parents only registered her birth on February 26, 1982.

Song Hye-kyo was introduced into the entertainment world when she won the MTM model contest in 1996 and started appearing on some TV shows; she was just 15.

Song Hye-kyo breakthrough was in 2000 with popular TV drama “Autumn In My Heart” (also known as “Autumn Tale” or “Endless Love”) starring alongside Song Seung-hun and Won-bin.

Not only did she become one of the most popular actresses in Korea, the sad-romance drama swept across Asia… Song Hye-kyo and her co-actors became Asian superstar.

Song Hye-kyo starred in another Asian hit South Korean TV drama “Hotelier” in 2001 and once again won her fans with her performance in 2003 with “All In,” where she met Lee Byung-hun and started a relationship that ended in 2005.

Song Hye-kyo co-starred with rising Korean pop-singer Rain (Bi) in 2004 TV drama “Full House” and unsurprisingly, she won the heart of Asian fans once again.

Song Hye-kyo is also a popular face for TV commercials, and she starred her first movie in 2005 “My Girl and I” with Cha Tae-hyun. Her movie adventure was however not as successful as her TV adventure, but she is not giving up.

Song Hye-kyo has just finished filming her latest movie based on the real life story of a 16th century kisaeng, “Hwang Jin-i.”

Why I like Song Hye-kyo

Song Hye-kyo is probably not the love-at-first-sight type of girl, but the more you see her, the more you will like her.

I think Song Hye-kyo is pleasantly beautiful, and has the kind of girl-next-door feeling. Her popularity is not solely on her appearance, she is well known for her acting performance.

Song Hye-kyo: A little of this and that for 2015 #1....

 

 Not changing the 'theme' of this blog but have really starting to get more interested in Korean actresses more than ever lately. As I've mentioned a few times recently just getting a little tired of all the 'Idol scene' and how young they are, though it may not seem it at time really prefer women who are a tad older. And Korean actresses seem to be that way, really can't think of too many who are really popular and younger than 25 so that's one reason I've been getting more interested in them lately. Of course the majority of posts here will be for Nogi46 and my other Japanese faves but am going to try to have at least one post like this one very day.
 There are more attractive women than Song but not many, to me she's always been the most classy and elegant woman these days regardless if they're from Japan or Korea. She was involved in a  minor scandal last year though it really wasn't her fault so luckily it blew over a bit quickly so she remains as popular as ever. Called this post #1 as I do have so, so many things from this year so hope you won't get tired of Song as I won't, actually think most people wouldn't. First thing to start off is a really fabulous set ofe  pics from the Roem Summer collection
