Social Contributions

•   Worked for animal rights and cared for abandoned dogs for about a decade.
•  Volunteered in the cleaning of the oil spill on the Yellow Sea Coast of Taean County. (2008)

• Appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador of the Youtube Symphony Orchestra in the Asia-Pacific Region. She is the only Goodwill Ambassador of the Asia-pacific region. Youtube Symphony Orchestra is the world’s first-ever collaborative online Orchestra.

• Was named the world’s first Asia Panda Goodwill Ambassador. She was being honored with the title “Asian Panda Contribution Ambassador for A Person with a Loving Heart by the Pubic.”  Mr. Tan Hongming, vice-secretary of the Chinese Communist Party at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. She also awarded the Panda Contribution Ambassador by the Chengdu Panda Base. (June 2009)

• She narrated a documentary on the aircraft. 'Good Morning Panda' to withstand the 2008 earthquake in Sichuan, surviving up to the Earth's life endangered, selling the story of the documentary. She hope that through her voice to calls for more people will care about love Giant Panda, as well as the ecological environment of wild animals around the world. (2009)

• Along with Jang Dong Gun she joined the “Pink Ribbon Love Marathon” at the World Cup Stadium in Seoul which is for the benefit of breast cancer research. (2009)

Chosen as the model for an international eco campaign ‘Bluepalm’. For the 2010 World Cup, she will help to promote the green sharing campaign, where old clothes will be collected for children of the third world nations.

• She funded the creation of an application for smartphone users to provide information on museums associated with Korea overseas. It was launched to mark Hangeul (Korean alphabet) Day. She is aware of the importance of providing the Korean-language guides and continues to sponsor the project. Seven museums in China will benefit from the new service, including one in Shanghai dedicated to the provisional government of Korea during Japan's colonial rule. (2012)

• She fully funded the publication of a new Korean guidebook for the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. The Korean guidebook, which contains information on the overall facilities and artwork at the MoMA, is provided to visitors free of charge at the museum. The guidebook can be also downloaded at the museum’s website at www.moma.org.  (2012)

• Volunteered in cleaning at a sanctuary for abandoned animals in Chun An. (March 2012)

• Along with “Korea publicist” Professor Seo Kyung Duk of Sungshin Women’s University installed a promotional video box about Korea at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. They added a detailed audio guide of the artifacts presented in the Korean gallery to the museum’s general audio guide. This audio guide will introduce four pieces of national treasure, including a piece of Goryo celadon, that show exceptional craftsmanship in the making.  (November 2012)

•  Donated her time to the construction company Doosan Group in order to help build an elementary school in China. She modeled for the campaign “The Future Lies with Children,” waived her modeling fees for appearing in the video, estimated to be in the hundreds of millions of won, as a gesture of gratitude to the Chinese fans who have supported her. (November 2012)

• She provided Korean brochures to the Provisional Government of Korea in Shanghai. provided 10,000 copies of newly-designed Korean brochures to each of the Provisional Government of Korea in Shanghai, the Yoon Bong Gil Memorial Hall, and the accommodation of the provisional government in Ga Heung to commemorate the foundation of the Provisional Government of Korea in Shanghai. (2012)

•  In collaboration with rising singer John Park have come together to record a song for cosmetics brand Laneige. The song titled “Switch”. he music video for the song is currently spreading like wildfire on the Internet. Proceeds from the sale of the tune will benefit the “Be Waterful” campaign, a joint project between Laneige and Save the Children, an international aid group. (2012)

• Volunteered on behalf of a shelter for stray dogs KARA (Korea Animals Rights Advocate). (2013)

• Song together with PR specialist Seo Kyung-deok donated guidebooks to the provincial government of South Korea in Hangzhou, China. (2013)
• Donated some art to Lee Joon Memorial hall from the time of The Hague in the Netherlands. The Lee Joon Memorial Hall is where Lee Joon, Lee Sang-seol and Lee Wi-jong stayed during the second International Peace Conference in 1907. A picture of the three of them was carved onto stone just the way they were in the front pages of the papers back then. (August 2013)

• Joined “Cinema Angel”, an actors’ charitable group, and donated 1,000 film tickets to young people. She provided the money for buying the tickets for the Busan Internatinal Film Festival in collaboration with Harper’s Bazaar under the sponsorship of Burberry Korea and donated it to the festival organizers for them to provide tickets to underprivileged youths in the Busan area. (October 2013)

• She funded a project for the publication of 1,000 Braille Guidebooks when she learned that there were no Braille guidebooks available at the Independence Hall of Korea In Cheonan. (2013)

• Along with celebrities Lee Hyori, Ko So Young and Han Hye Yeon holds a non-profit bazaars and donates the profit for charity. (2013)

• Donated guidebooks in Korean at Ahn Joong Kun Memorial Hall in Harbin, China. Together with Professor Seo Kyung-deok they donated 10,000 guidebooks in Korean to the visitors. (2013)

• Korean PR Specialist Seo Kyung Deok and fan club of Song Hye Kyo announced that they donated Korean guidebook to National History Museum in Uzbekistan. Beginning November 21st, 10,000 Korean guidebooks will be provided to tourists for free. (2013)

• Song together with management company UAA actors Kang Dong Won and Yoo Ah In sent relief aid to family members of the missing passengers from the submerged Sewol who have been waiting in Jindo. On April 18th, the actors got together and sent relief aid. Not wanting to make it a scene, the actors and management company followed their own thoughts and made the donation in affiliation with the name of the management company.  (April 2014)

• She donated 800 movie tickets to the underprivileged people to attend the 16^th Seoul International Women’s Film Festival (SIWFF). She donates these tickets to the Korean Council for Women Drafted for Military Sexual Slavery by Japan and Makdallena Community which is a community that focuses on the happiness and rights of women hurt from prostitution. (June 2014)

• She continues to cooperate with Professor Seo Kyung Duk donating Korean handbooks to Jae-pil Suh Memorial Hangul Guide in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sheprovided 100% of the financial support for this project.  (November 2014)

Its like a festival here when it comes to your birthday. It has been quiet since the day you were in the event, then I know that you must have good time and be enjoying your meaningful birthday with your beloveds. Im happy, just thinking of this
This year is so hard for you. And therefore hard for us when we saw you struggle bravely. You dont know even now, I am sad and feel burdened when I come across a harmful comment, an article involved your name and your case. But then, I console myself that it means you are so popular. I admit one of your weakness is that you are so into characters that you find it hard to detach yourself from afterwards. Two times falling in love have left great impacts on you and the source for the haters. But I know that happens when you were young, coz you are a girl, you lack your fatherly figure and not strong enough. Thats why when I bump into harsh comments about you, I only smile coz I know what kind that commenter is, not deserve my thoughtfulness. You have done the same for such a time when it comes to baseless rumors. Now, Im learning that way from you  
"When I read what you said: "I have thought that happiness comes from living harmoniously with people I love and from not being greedy. I have no reason to pay less tax in change of such happiness and I really want you to believe me." I was so surprised and proud. Your speech gave me such a deep impression since that is my motto in life. I do hope in the future, when I get married and have babies, I'll try my best to teach and lead my children to such a life: No greed for happiness, hard-workingness for comfortableness, earning for what has been done. I do believe karma exists in life.
