Actress Song Hye-kyo donated some art to the Lee Joon Memorial Hall.

Professor Seo Kyeong-deok of Sungsin University said, "I have presented art to Lee Joon Memorial hall from the time of The Hague in the Netherlands along with actress Song Hye-kyo who is greatly known for her presentation of Korean pamphlets to Korean historic sites all overseas".

Professor Seo said, "We met with Lee Ki-hang and Song Chang-joo who have run the Lee XJoon Memorial hall since the foundation until now, and spoke about the things it needed. The result was a carving of the three patriots Lee Joon, Lee Sang-seil and Lee Wi-jong".

The Lee Joon Memorial Hall is where Lee Joon, Lee Sang-seol and Lee Wi-jong stayed during the second International Peace Conference in 1907. A picture of the three of them was carved onto stone just the way they were in the front pages of the papers back then.

According to the professor, the stone measures 1.7m long and 1.2m wide. It will be hung in the Lee Joon Memorial Hall on the 15th, in celebration of Independence Day.

Song Hye-kyo says, "I hope this donation is helpful in hosting foreign tourists in our country".

Meanwhile, Song Hye-kyo and professor Seo Kyeong-deok have been providing several museums all over the world with Korean services.

New fan here! Just finished watching That Winter, The Wind Blows. One of the best dramas I’ve ever seen, if not the best! Amazing piece of art.(Yes! I did call it art! :P) I was an emotional, blubbering mess after the last episode. Hahaha! Superb acting by SHK & JIS. Like seriously, everytime she appears on screen I was like "How are you so perfect/great/flawless?" Will she be doing another drama anytime soon? I really hope she does more dramas in the future because we don't often get to witness an actor of her caliber nowadays.

Another article following her donations:

Song Hye Kyo contributes art once again to the Lee Joon Memorial Hall in Holland

Actress Song Hye Kyo has once again shown her love for the preservation of Korean culture, by donating some art to the Lee Joon Memorial Hall in Holland.

Song Hye Kyo had previously contributed her voice to a Korean guide service that was installed at at various Korea-related historical sites overseas, such as the Provisional Government of Korea in Chongqing and Shanghai, Yoon Bong Gil Memorial Hall in Shanghai, and many others. For this time round, Song Hye Kyo has worked with Professor Seo Kyung Duk of Sungsin University to contribute a bronze carving to the Lee Joon Memorial Hall in Holland.

Professor Seo personally made a trip in person to The Hauge in Holland to oversee the donation. He expressed, “I met up with the couple of Lee Ki Hang and Song Chang Joo, who had been running the Lee Joon Memorial Hall since it was built. After discussions, we decided to donate a bronze carving of the three patriots - Lee Joon, Lee Sang Seil and Lee Wi Jong.

The Lee Joon Memorial Hall is where Lee Joon had died back in 1907, and was also the venue of the infamous incident ‘Hague Secret Emissary Affair’ where the 3 patriots had stayed during the Second Peace Conference. Professor Seo and Song Hye Kyo thus decided to create a bronze carving of the photo where the 3 had posed together back then, and donate it to the memorial hall.

Professor Seo said, “The carving is 1.7m long and 1.2 wide, and will be hung at the Lee Joon Memorial Hall on August 15th, to commemorate Independence Day.”

Song Hye Kyo who had a part in sponsoring the bronze carving said, “This is my second time participating in such an event overseas. I hope that this donation will help to ensure that more local and foreign tourists come visit this place and learn more about our rich history.”

Professor Seo concluded, “Conditions of historic sites in foreign countries aren’t ideal. But if more of our people go to visit and pay attention to them, it will be the most ideal way to protect them.”

As of now, Song Hye Kyo and Professor Seo have already provided Korean brochures to the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and many others. They are also looking to actively push this service to European countries.

Korean actor Song Hye-kyo has donated an art piece for a Korean independence activist along with professor Seo Kyoung-duk, a specialist in promoting Korea.

The two has donated an art piece to the Yi Jun Peace Museum, which is a memorial hall for Korean independence activist Yi Jun, in Hague, the Netherlands, professor Seo said through a press release on Wednesday.

“I hope that the art piece will be helpful for attracting tourists to the Yi Jun Peace Museum,” actress Song Hye-kyo was quoted as saying.

The art piece is 1.7 meter in width and 1.2 meter in length, to be displayed in the central area of the museum.

It is a portrait of Yi Jun, Yi Sang-sol and Yi Wi-jong, the three confidential emissaries sent to the Second Hague Peace Convention by the Joseon Dynasty’s Emperor Gojong in 1907.

The three were sent to the convention to declare that Korea was an independent country and that Japan’s repression over the country was illicit but the three’s participation was rejected. Yi Jun was then found dead in his room at the Hotel De Jong which is currently the Yi Jun Peace Museum. The cause of his death is still unknown.

The goodwill duo, who have helped enabling Korean language service in Museum of Modern Art in New York and Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, will keep working together to provide the same service in European museums including Tate Modern in London.
