  1. Yay, I'm happy Anthony landed his big role! I like that he got to celebrate the good news with both Ha Nis and even Yu Hyun. Both guys may bicker, but it's nice that they were able to be genuine/sincere during this moment.

I'm super relieved it turned out Ji Eun did not follow through with the evil aunt's plans and that she/Ha Ni put closure to the past. Still, the aunt was able to use the footage to manipulate Do Yoon. However, I don't believe that he is truly on her side. I think he has a plan of his own and will blindside his mother in the end. I hope I am not wrong. LOL.

But gosh, I hope Yu Hyun's father will ultimately be okay. To be honest, I think it's an opportune time for Yu Hyun to step up and show his capabilities, especially now that there may be a power struggle at the company.

In the preview, it looked like young Ha Ni may get hurt. I hope she will be okay too!

  2. Did anyone feel a little emotional with Ha Ni and young Ha Ni holding each other's hand during the car drive? Young Ha Ni has been really wanting to go back home so when the opportunity to do so abruptly came up, it was nice to see her realize she was going to miss Ha Ni and vice versa. I am curious to know who wanted them to meet. Was the reason for both to find happiness in their respective lives again? My guess is it's past grandma, but we'll see when they pick up the mysterious phone call.

Feeling the loss of a loved one can last a lifetime. I can't even imagine how it feels like compounded with guilt that it was my fault. So, after 20 years of hurt and blame, it was also nice to see Ha Ni and her sister finally make up and start to heal. The tape of their father's voice was a lovely touch to bring them together. I do believe it's healthier to hold onto the good memories and let go of the bad.

About Yu Hyun, I like him more and more each episode. Not only does he have a good heart and is capable. He is also a dependable man. Ha Ni needs someone she can confide with and lean on. Yu Hyun has shown to be that person. I have a feeling Yu Hyun will be faced with tough times when he learns of his father's possible blindness which I can see Ha Ni being there for him in return.

Saving what I disliked for last. I am disappointed that Ji Eun fell for the aunt's evil tricks. Hopefully, she does have a conscience and it will turn her back around.

  3. Hello ~~~ I just binged through all the episodes and really enjoy it. I like Ha Ni's "mother/daughter" relationship with her 17 year old self, but I'm totally dreading the moment she finds out the truth of her father. It breaks my heart every time they flash back to the time of his death. :tears: Yoo Hyun may be a bit childish, but he has a good heart and is very capable. His crush on Ha Ni is sweet. I like that his father and Ha Ni's mother approve of the other. Speaking of his father, I find their bickering hilarious, but it's good that Yoo Hyun is finally understanding how snacks can make people happy, which seems to be bridging the relationship between them. I hope they can truly reconcile before his father's condition gets worse. Their impromptu dinner together is a positive start. Btw, Yoo Hyun mentioned that a taxi driver had saved his life. I wonder what is the backstory behind it.

Yoo Hyun's aunt is a wolf in sheep's clothing. I hope Do Yoon remains to be a good. He and Ji Eun are cute together, especially after finding out that their expecting.

Me too. I have food allergies myself so Ha Ni and Yoo Hyun's ideas totally interest me. Also, I like tofu!

Well now we know that SH did not meet her younger self but she accidentally found her own grave and obtain the memories of her future self. Maybe because of this memories, she is able to change the future?

Anyway, her grave is located on the side of a toppled building. this indicates that she survive the initial nuke.she was buried with someone. probably together with Tae Sul? Since both of the corpse seems like properly buried with stone and cross, this might indicate that someone who knows them did their burial. maybe Tae Sul brother, or Sun or even their own child?

This part was interesting. It explains why in the prior flashback, Seo Hae was indifferent to Tae Sul on the magazine cover yet she was emotional talking about Tae Sul with her father when she was about to take the uploader to the past. Also, the wedding photo was of her future self who had previously uploaded to the past and met Tae Sul. Is that what you understood too? I agree that they were likely buried by Tae San or Sun. Also, I agree that the mixing of memories of her present and future self could be the key to change the future.

Based on the painting, Tae Sul concludes that Sigma means Sisyphus from the myth who was eternally punished, but what is the connection between two?

  5. @bedifferent @nrllee Hola! I watched, but since you and everyone here have dissected the first two episodes so well and in such great details, I only have a few things I'd like to add:

    15 hours ago, fluffyloaf said:

I just briefly rewatched some scenes and I realised that the first scene showing Head Hunter in jail, he noticed that there was a news of a murder and then next page shows that coincidentally Daniel Lee was back in Korea the same week. Hmm...

Also, in this scene, the HH saw a mouse trying to escape through the prison chain-link fence. So, I think he sent the package with two mice to Daniel Lee. When he opened the box, one got away and is loose while one was confined in a container. I believe the HH wanted to taunt Daniel Lee that if his theory on psychopathic genetic testing is true, even though he (the HH) is imprisoned for life/on death row, he has an offspring out there who will be a killer just like him.

Regarding the victims, wasn’t there a 5th one? There was a homeless man in his 50s who was found dead at a construction site. Same pattern, his middle finger was pointing to a cross outside the window. It occurred before the dead girl was found at the greenhouse. By the way, what is with the message that the killer wrote on the roof of the greenhouse which read “Bingo! Detective Ko Moon Chi! Great deductive reasoning!”?

About the kids, as of now, I think JBR is the little boy with the mouse and is the son of the widow who wished to raise him in a normal environment. I doubt he knows about his psychopathic gene. SYH, is likely Jae Hoon, who grew up knowing about the gene all all along. Many attributes seem to suggest that SYH may be the killer, but I feel there is more to it. My preference is that they both fall into the 1% difference of genius versus psychopath. Even if one or both are psychopaths, do all of them necessarily become killers?

  6. @wenchanteur Thanks for summarizing the list of enemies! It helps a lot.

While Pres. Park has his own personal/business motives, I hope he'll be amused by Seo Hae's determination to change the future and becomes an ally. One less enemy may help make the uphill battle be more possible. It will take more than Tae Sul and Seo Hae to push for change.

About Tae San, does anyone think that we may have seen two of him in episode 6? I feel that the Tae San at the party is the present Tae San (possibly controlled by the CB) while the hostage held by Sigma is the future Tae San. Maybe I'm overthinking it though.

Btw, I have to say that PSH looked gorgeous in the purple dress!

@nrllee So, it looks like Seo Hae's birthday is September 30th which corresponds to the password combination to her suitcase of 120930.

SH received a phone for her 8th bday, something similar to ours, so she indeed could be the girl who wrote the letter to TS.   But @taeunfightingSH didn't recognize TS on the cover so it debunks that suspicion.  TS was still CEO for QnT at time of the nuclear war which means the war didn't happen because of his death or after it.  He didn't give up the company or was ousted from QnT.  Where and when does the wedding fit in the timeline?

Tae Sul on the magazine cover and Seo Hae's reaction threw a wrench in some of the theories, right? LOL. I really don't know, but here are some thoughts:

I went back to re-watch the scene of the fan letter and it was from a girl by the name of Lee Hae Na so maybe we can assume she is not Seo Hae.

If Seo Hae’s mission is to keep Tae Sul alive in order to prevent the war, I feel that it would only make sense if in that scene, he is already dead. It could be that some time had already passed since war the broke out and the magazine pre-dates it. The magazine was distributed to the store just before the war and Tae Sul's death.

About the wedding, I am at a loss with how it would fit in the timeline too. I wonder if within the loop, different events took place in each set, but had always led to the same result – Tae Sul’s death and the war. Now that I think of it, from the beginning of the drama, Seo Hae didn’t seem to personally know Tae Sul or anything about the wedding. All she knew was that she needed to go back to the past and save Tae Sul in order to stop the war. So, it could be that the wedding took place in a previous set. Possibly the same set in which she wrote the diary entry to herself.

  8. So, I really like episode 5. I’ll put a few takeaways and thoughts in a spoiler:

    Spoiler

I was fearing that Tae Sul and Seo Hae would take a few steps back in their partnership so I was happy to see them officially come to an understanding and shake on it. He will allow her to protect him and save the world while she will not hinder him from finding his brother. The two drinking beer together at his place was a nice bonding moment. I can begin to see how feelings will start to develop between the two.

Tae Sul bought Seo Hae a new diary (same has her old one). She seems to think that the previous one was given to her by Tae Sul as well.

Seo Hae confirmed that N. Korea will nuke S. Korea and everyone will die. It seems to allude that her mom died as a result the war.

We get more glimpses of Seo Hae’s life in the future. I love her relationship with her father. After losing a wife/mother and the country, it’s clear the losses have made their bond even stronger. They are aware that they could easily lose each other any moment as well. Survival mode is set in high gear and I can’t imagine what it’s like being Seo Hae in the future. When she hesitated to kill the kid and her father lectured that “Once you get soft, you’ll lose something even more precious”, it’s clear humanity is needed to be sacrificed for the sake of survival. What was interesting about this time is based on how she reacted to Tae Sul on the Forbes magazine cover, she didn’t seem to personally know him yet. I’m curious to know what you all think about it.

Tae Sul believes that the safe has the uploader which is why Pres. Park wants the key. He and Seo Hae go back to his place to get it. When Eddy Kim enters his place, they hide in a closet. Tae Sul overhears that Eddy plans to abandon/forego the search for him which hurts him. But, I think Eddy knew that Tae Sul was in there and may actually be looking out for him. Or, he doesn't want Tae Sul to be found. We'll see...

Seo Jin seems to be conflicted in what to believe. She played a recording which revealed that she treated Tae San as a psychiatry patient well. He mentioned Sigma and they want to kill Tae Sul. (I wonder if the present Tae San may be experiencing the effects of time paradox due to the future Tae San being being in the present. The hallucinations may be him getting memories of his future self.)

The Control Bureau is definitely manipulative. Jung falsely believes that Seo Hae is responsible for his mother’s death and set in his mission to kill her.

Tae Sul seems to be making some kind of a device at the end scene. What could it be?

Kim Ok Bin And Lee Joon Hyuk Attend Script Reading For Upcoming OCN Drama

    Mar 2, 2021
    by C. Hong

OCN has unveiled a photo from the script reading of “Dark Hole” (literal title), its upcoming Saturday-Sunday original drama.

“Dark Hole” is a thriller about a group of survivors who have to fight for their lives against mutants that are created when humans breathe mysterious dark smoke from a sinkhole.

At the script reading were director Kim Bong Joo, writer Jung Yi Do, and actors Kim Ok Bin, Lee Joon Hyuk, Im Won Hee, Kim Byung Gi, Kim Han Jong, Oh Yoo Jin, Kim Do Hoon, Lee Ha Eun, Song Sang Eun, and Park Geun Rok.

The actors brought to life the tension in the storyline as OCN attempts a “mutant survival” drama for the first time. Kim Ok Bin showed her character’s charismatic strength in the role of Lee Hwa Sun, a police detective. Lee Joon Hyuk immersed himself in his character, a tow truck driver named Yoo Tae Han who seems carefree on the outside but has a strong sense of justice.

    kim-ok-bin.jpglee-joon-hyuk.jpg

Oh Yoo Jin plays Han Dong Rim, a student at the local high school who fights desperately not to fall into the clutches of those who want to use her for their own ends. Kim Do Hoon plays Lee Jin Suk, the local bully who torments Han Dong Rim, and Kim Han Jong plays Yoo Tae Han’s close friend and fellow tow truck driver Nam Young Sik.

Lee Ha Eun plays Yoon Saet Byul, a nurse at the local hospital who will help the people who fall into chaos when the mutants appear. Im Won Hee plays Park Soon Il, a sergeant in the local patrol division. Park Geun Rok rounds out the cast as Choi Seung Tae, a teacher at the local high school who tries to save people even in the midst of a panic.

Screenwriter Jung Yi Do (who worked on “Save Me” and “Strangers From Hell”) said, “It’s to be expected, but the script feels so different when actors begin to perform. These words that existed only on paper have had life breathed into them.”

“Dark Hole” is set to premiere sometime in the first half of 2021.

Check out Lee Joon Hyuk in “365: Repeat the Year” below!

Really?  I thought it happened a month after the plane crash (the accident)?  Eddy Kim told him to get therapy after he got home from the hospital and not just rely on pills to solve his problems?  And then the scene with SeoJin at therapy was shown.  He asked her to just prescribe him more pills because he didn’t want to talk about his issues (have therapy).  She told him she can’t just give him pills like she did in the past anymore because the company wanted her counseling reports.

Oh, you're right!! Let me fix my post above so it doesn't confuse anyone.

Can we guess how this picture was taken?  Did he take it through the glass wall, inside the hallway of the building, looking into the office?  Maybe even up on a connecting bridge, the upper floor?  Hallway and his reflection is in the photo.

Is this after his funeral or after the plane crash?

I was trying to figure "how" as well. It looks like the photo captured Tae San's reflection so I think he took it looking through a glass wall and standing inside a hallway based on what we see on the top left corner.

The therapy session took place one month after Tae San's funeral so before Tae Sul's plane crash. (Edited per @nrllee's post below. Sorry!)

Also, I wonder if Kim Dong-Hyeon from one the newspaper clippings (guy on the left photo) is this person from the IPO listing. If so, there must be a reason why his name is boxed in red.

I am certain policeman Kang Dong Ki is HS' father, partner of Jung.  Yes, we did compare the fan letter and the diary entries, I can't tell if the handwritings are the same.  We don't know if HS has been born yet.  Since HS is in her 20s in 2035, she very well be in grade school writing the letter.  I expect adult HS to meet young girl HS soon, that's how the diary continues through the time loop.  2020 adult HS will have to hand it over somehow.  Probability exists that HS will meet policeman Kang, will she know who he is?

The key to break the time loop lies with Tae Sul.  Tae San did not die.  He actually succeeded this time around, his brother found the suitcase.  HS helped as well, they met Jung.  Both reinforced for TSul that TSan is still alive.  At least we know that the events leading to TS's invention of the uploader will change.  In the past, TS did not disappear at the convention and he continues to be part of QnT.  This time, he is not part of the development anymore cuz he is busy finding his brother.  Something did change.  Maybe they can keep pushing the critical point forward.

The second and important change is the key TaeSul has.  I don't think TSan brought the key to give Park, he wanted TS to have the contents in the safe.

The events leading to the wedding will change.  I believe the wedding could still happen.  If TS is ousted from QnT, I wonder how would he continue to develop the uploader?

I agree with you that Officer Kang is Seo Hae's father in which I hope he will have significant interactions with adult Seo Hae and assist in breaking the cycle. It was too sad to see them part ways in the future and he seems like a righteous man. When they meet, even if Seo Hae recognizes him, I don't think she will acknowledge him right away for his own well-being. Maybe, later though. I also think Seo Hae in the present is around 8 years old. If Tae San's camera captured the wedding photo, it would mean he has met Seo Hae at one point of the loop. Maybe Seo Hae's suitcase was also put together by Tae San. Hence, the password to it of "120930" could be her birthday and the mysterious canisters may be relevant.

I do think Tae San has been leaving clues for Tae Sul to head in the right direction - such as the key and clippings at the old laboratory. The message on Tae Sul's wall is likely written by him too. I believe he knew that Tae Sul would do the opposite and search for the truth.

And, yes, I also agree some things have already changed. When the entry in Seo Hae's diary started to fade away, I know it's because of contact with the waters, but I also hope that it means she doesn't need this message to herself anymore. They all will succeed this time.

I think in this case Atropine was used to jumpstart his heart.  It’s used for bradycardia (when the heart is beating too slowly).  So presumably it’s used to wake him up from his stupor post time travel so that he can run.

Ah okay, obviously this part went over my head. LOL. It makes sense to me now.

One more thing about episode 4 that I didn't quite understand is when Tae Sul asked about the issue of names/identities with the present and future selves, Park's guy replied "Time paradox. Their bodies and memories get mixed. And, eventually one side disappears". Did anyone happen to understand what this means? Is there two or one person in the present??

So there’s another organization called Sigma that’s involved.  Why the name Sigma?  Sigma is a summation in mathematics.  Even TSul thought the idea of using his machine to teleport organic substances (like humans with a large amount of “information”) is impossible.  A sugar cube has a simple chemical formula C12H22O11  (cr https://melscience.com/AU-en/chemistry/reagents/65/).  Organic matter like humans is a different thing altogether.

That was an interesting comment by Tae Sul (since he would know best). Maybe different from Park's operation, the "bad guys" didn't use uploader to teleport humans, but for something of non-organic matter.

The writers commented that drama was conceived during the North Korea crisis.  From the preview, I suspect Seoul was the victim of such misunderstanding between the two Koreas (we saw nuclear headings hitting the city).  TS, HS, TSan and many traveled back in time repeatedly as the result.  Depends on they are, their goal is to either save TS or kill him to protect or change the future.

This likely scenario makes sense to me. Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing the nuclear headings in the intro. When Jung teleported from the future, he was supposed to be injected with atropine by one of Park's guys. I looked up what it is used for and one of its uses is treat to poisoning from insecticides and nerve agents. I wonder if chemical weapons may be involved the warfare as well. I hope the reveal of the characters' involvement and significance in the crisis won't disappoint us.

  15. I thought the introduction of the police officer from the future added more excitement to the plotline. I don’t know about everyone else, but I needed tissues watching his farewell meeting with his mother. It was hinted that there may be a theme of “regret” for various characters. The writer did a great job highlighting it here. In reality, we can’t go back and change the past, but it was comforting to see the possibility of getting closure in an alternate universe.

I am curious to know how the police officer eventually finds out that he was manipulated by the Control Bureau. He said that he met Tae San. Did Tae San help him realize who are the true bad guys? I also want to know what he means when he told Seo Hae that she must forgive him for what he does to her in order for her to win. If his present self is seeking revenge, could he have killed Seo Hae’s mom?

Chairman Kim and the CB Chief were exchanging suspicious glances. Does it appear that they are conspiring together? Maybe this is why Pres. Park distrusts the system and is running his own underground operation. Legal...illegal...who is right...who is wrong?

Eddy Kim does not seem like a bad guy, but success/career seem important to him and tends to fall under pressures from the chairman. Hopefully, he will ultimately choose his best friend over the corporation.

I am confused by the scene of Seo Jin’ emotions when she unfolded the picture of her and Tae Sul. Does she actually have genuine feelings for Tae Sul? I wonder if she is being manipulated by the chairman.

My understanding is that Tae Sul created the downloader in 2002 and Seo Hae said the uploader appeared around 2021 (which is around the corner). Should be fascinating to know how the misuse of Tae Sul’s inventions may have contributed to the war and why he must live to stop it. I hope the writer doesn’t fail to tie everything together and give us a sensible story behind it.

The preview for the next episode looked good, but after seeing them look after each other in episode 4, I was disappointed that Tae Sul and Seo Hae may go their separate ways. Hopefully, not for long though.

  16. I only got to watch part of episode 4. I thought it was cute how happy Seo Hae was scoring the BTS poster. She was listening to their song "Spring Day" through her headphones. It does seem that people in her time are missing loved ones/longing for the past and hoping that they'll meet each other again one day. I've been to Myeong-dong several times. Seeing Seo Hae walking through this lively and bustling neighborhood in the present as empty and abandoned in the future is quite eerie and sad. It was interesting that Won dollars were not of value to her yet what looks like USD coins were.

I've gotten used to Seo Hae saving Tae Sul so for a change, it was nice seeing him come back to save her. I really liked this part:

With that, we can assume that Soe Hae was already 5 to 10yr old in 2020. She might find her present self and hand over her diary by herself.

Seo Hae's suitcase password is "120930". I wonder if it could be similar to Tae San's suitcase password as Tae Sul's birthday. This would make her 8 years old in 2020.

What stood out for me has to be the chemistry between CSW and PSH---- it's so incredible. I really enjoyed her saving him, their banter when they were tied together, the sleeping in the van scene that is all over twitter, when she made him wear that jacket and then when he paid for her diary!! I think all of us can sense how good a team they are going to be. Also glad that CSW is closer to understanding the situation/mess-- I want him to understand it and get to solving it like an equal partner to PSH. Hopefully by the end of next episode he won't be in the dark anymore! I also really like CEO Park's character- the owner of Asian Mart. He is such a cool actor, loved all his scenes. I hope he is not the bad guy and ends up helping CSW and PSH though with his current attitude it seems unlikely.

@rita96 I also like CEO Park's character (and the actor himself too!). My impression is that he is not a bad guy. His broker operation seems to be assisting a group of people who are less privileged or experiencing inequalities in the system. The end scene of him showing Tae Sul that the "the future is here" hopefully will steer him in the right direction and as you said, begin to work equally side-by-side with Seo Hae to fulfill their mission. Fingers crossed that all holds true.

I decided to look up William Gibson. He is a science fiction author and known for “near-future stories that explored the effects of technology, cybernetics, and computer networks on humans—a combination of lowlife and high tech". Since he was mentioned in the opening of the Quantum & Times conference, it seems to imply that the technological advancements created by Tae Sul may have caused negative effects on the quality of human life over time.

I also looked-up his quote, “The future is already here - it’s just not evenly distributed yet”, but there are so many interpretations of it that I am not certain what is William Gibson’s meaning behind it and the possible correlation to the drama. If anyone has any insight on it, please do share here.

I was curious about those items in Tae San's suitcase as well. Seo Hae's suitcase also had some peculiar items - a set of canisters filled with blue glowing stuff. Is this why the Control Bureau is after her? They must be critical to the time travel operation or the time traveler(s).

@taeunfightinggood to see you, post your thoughts when you get a chance LOL

@bedifferent I watched both episodes back-to-back. Overall, I thought it was pretty good, but I’m somewhat confused with what’s going on and my mind is filled with many questions. LOL. I’ve only read a handful of comments so far. I definitely need to back-read.

Does it seem that Tae Sul’s brother is actually alive or at least still present through time travel?

The message on the wall of Tae Sul’s house was a bit strange. Why did it need to be covered by the artwork? Nothing else seemed out of place to Tae Sul due to the break-in, except he noticed that the artwork (which he had intentionally hung upside down) was hung right-side up. I can’t decide if the person who wrote the message does not want Tae Sul to look for brother or actually wants him to look for him.

Who was doing the investigation at the shed? What is the significance of the following newspaper clippings found there?

    • Fund Manager, Kim Dong Hyeon
    • Deputy President, Yoo Eun Ji
    • Han Tae Sul Discharged from Hospital

On the Quantum & Time Conference 2020 brochure, why was the print “Han Tae Sul, Quantum & Time CEO” marked with a red “X”? Seo Hae mentioned that if Tae Sul opened the suitcase, “they” will kill him so she needs to go to Busan. Is it related?

Also, at the shed, Tae Sul had a hallucination of Tae San and he said, “What took you so long?” What did he mean by that? Was it just a metaphor that Tae Sul is finally asking questions and searching for answers?

It sounded like Pres. Park (Sung Dong Il) and Tae San were trying to make some kind of deal. He was supposed to give the key to the safe to Park, but in exchange for what? Tae Sul’s life? I can’t wait to know what is in the safe and why Park wants it so bad. It seems it has to do with the ability to time travel. Does it to allow it, but also could stop it?

I liked the scene of Tae Sul and Seo Hae walking across from each other on the opposite sides of the train platforms. It left me curious about how the nature of their relationship will be gradually revealed, especially after the seeing their wedding photo. So far, I feel that we really got to know Tae Sul so I am looking forward to more of Seo Hae’s backstory and the connection between Tae Sul and her mother.

@nrllee Hi! We have time travelers. Re-do. Loop. I’m getting some 365: Repeat the Year feels all over again!

Hello Hello everyone.  I see some familiar names here. wave @nrllee.  Coming from watching Stranger 2, I enjoy seeing CSW emote, esp his slick and smooth talking glib.  A good change, somehow I feel Tae sul exudes a lot of the real CSW's personality. :D -- @pompyavi@larus@taeunfighting  are you watching?

Hi @bedifferent, it's good to hear from you and to also see other friends here! I do plan to start either tonight or this weekend (along with Vincenzo). I've read a few comments here and there about CSW's characterization here compared to our dear Shi Mok. Should be fun and interesting! :D

I have been trying to find this scene on Youtube but not having luck. Just wondering if anyone has a gif of the king slowmo walk towards the palace OR then the king is putting on the scarf for the queen and the queen delicate response.

@Clemzstar Thanks for mentioning these lovely scenes! They were my most favorites of the ending. Here is what I have:

  22. Happy New Year to you too @AC95 and everyone else here! Thanks so much for sharing the translations! He seems so sincere and sweet. (I definitely second that he works with Nam Ji Hyun again!)

I am very excited for Dark Hole. I looked it up on MyDramaList. If it's accurate, it will be 12 episodes in total and start airing on April 3rd (Saturday and Sunday). Hopefully, it will be available on Netflix.

Last, I wanted to share a few more photos of him from the MBC awards (courtesy of Ace Factory). He looks so dashing!
