  1. I thought we'll see Kyo finally on tv, but she will only be a narrator in a documentary. Nonetheless, still happy because we'll get to hear her voice. She really has a beautiful heart, lending her voice for a wonderful documentary.

Throwback to Kyo eonnie rocking a bowl-cut hairstyle. I can't believe she managed to stay beautiful with this kind of haircut. If it were me, I'll be a laughingstock. :D

  2. Glad that all is well and the dispute has already been settled. Shame on J. Estina. As Kyonatics, let's not patronise products from this malicious company.

Thank you @smiletall for the translations as per usual. :) Thank you for your wonderful insight @twtwb, include me as one of your fans too! keke :P Thank you everyone for your wonderful contributions on this thread. I'm happy that the thread keeps on moving despite eonnie being ninja as usual.  But we will see her soon on the 4th of May as per @utkim. I'm excited to see her on television once again. Thank you sunbae @utkim!

@crixa aw you're too sweet :) And I know. As much as I loved TWTWB, I really was desperate for some eye contact between her and JIS. (Well desperate for anything really between that OTP.. but the story kind of made progress..erm.. difficult to say the least.. The angst was strong with TWTWB...lol)  Of course there were moments that her blindness made the scene that much more telling because JIS would be saying one thing, but his face would be literally expressing another (goosebumps!). But in general, you could already feel the tension when they weren't looking at each other directly. If there had been eye contact during emotionally charged scenes, I'm pretty certain ratings would have been even higher than it already was. haha

I actually also just wanted to comment on your analysis of KMY and YSJ, just because I basically just wrote the same thoughts on the main DOTS thread! :o It's also a sentiment I expressed since the latter half of the drama lol. So I totally understand you. They both deserve daesangs. But I would feel a bigger sense of remorse if SHK was snubbed especially if you consider the trajectory of her character in the drama.

Totally agree! I think the lack of eye contact between the OTP made some of the viewers unable to connect plus some feel queasy since they're supposed to be siblings, lol thus the lower ratings although it was still the highest rating drama on its time slot. Their chemistry was amazing but I did not ship them off screen mainly because of the lack of eye contact between the two, lol I know, she's blind of course, but I can't help it. :sweatingbullets: In addition, Oh Young was majorly depressed and like what you said, full of angst those two. I did watch their BTS after the drama, and started shipping them hard, unfortunately, JIS dating news broke out, so the shipping did not last. lol So, I'm really hoping for another drama in the future for these two. :) a love triangle between So Ji Sub perhaps? ala Memories of Bali :P

Seriously though. I can't help but think that they might give the Daesang to SJK only since his fame just sky rocketed. You know how some award giving bodies give the awards to the more popular ones to appease fans. So crossing my fingers, both of them will win the highly coveted Daesang.

  4. @smiletall thank you for your wonderful insight. I hope you post more. I love reading your posts and I can't help but agree. I think it's a shame that SHK was portraying a blind woman in TWTWB. Their chemistry was amazeballs, imagine if Kyo was able to look at JIS too. I hope they make another drama in the future where both can have direct eye contact with each other. :D Thank you for your translations as well as always.

@hclover96 I agree. I'm a greedy fan too. Kyo deserves the Daesang. She and SJK both deserve it. They should have a co-Daesang. However, if only SJK wins, I'm going to flip some tables. Not because SJK does not deserve it. He deserves it as much as Kyo. He is a wonderful actor and portrayed YSJ flawlessly. He is not beneath Kyo as an actor, however, as a character, I don't think YSJ and KMY are equal in terms of depth. YSJ to me, has been the same from day 1 and throughout the series. Kang Mo Yeon on the other hand, has character development. KMY is a multidimensional character, plus the fact that DOTS wasn't filmed chronologically, imagine how emotionally difficult it will be. But Kyo nailed the character KMY and she even exceeded expectations.

Posting this old photo since this is my first time seeing this, how cute is she when she looks sulky. :)

  5. @msriz OMG. How could I forget, Jung Woo Sung the super hot oppa. The Oppa of all Oppas. lol I definitely want a love line between him and Kyo

@SusanC The actors I've mentioned are popular Korean actors, not as much in Asia since they tend to take on movie projects and seldom on dramas. I've been following Korean movies moreso than Korean dramas and I noticed how much these actors have gained multiple acting accolades. Most of the time, they take on movie projects that are both critically-acclaimed and with commercial success in Korea. That's why I've been wishing for Kyo to work with them. But I trust Kyo and I'm sure she chooses her projects well, as she pointed out on her interview, there are limited roles in diverse genres for Korean actresses to play.

@leedonghaek I agree. Some are saying she's cold, distant and aloof. At least they get to see a glimpse of Kyo's true nature. She really is a warm hearted person. Even the director said she's cheerful and talkative.  :)

I hope she does a Korean movie with a serious Korean actors and actresses (not romantically partnered with a great looking actor with a potential hallyu status  but where she is a cop, prosecutor, spy, etc...something completely different from her roles thus far...)

Sorry to cut your post. I totally agree with this! I personally, hope she'll do a movie with serious, veteran, award winning actors like Song Kang Ho, Choi Min Sik and the likes. Not necessarily a love line with them. My personal wish for her is to win major acting awards in Blue Dragon film awards, Baeksang awards, Grand Bell awards and Busan film critics awards. She has already done a lot of Hallyu dramas with successful rate. I don't mind her doing another Hallyu drama with a Hallyu star but I seriously hope she considers acting in a movie with the respectable and seasoned actors. :)

  7. Thank you everyone for the all the wonderful translations and articles!

So glad she didn't take the role in the "European Raiders". I don't mind if she's going to be paired up with Tony Leung since he's a really good actor. However, if it's Wu Yi Fan, it's a no go to me. I do trust Kyo's judgments. She's not the type to take on roles with blockbuster assurance. She's the type to take roles that challenge her as an actress. I remember her interviews sharing how much she wanted to take the roles in Hwang Jin Yi and Today despite few negative responses. She really wanted the audience to see her as an actress and not just a beautiful face.

I do agree with everyone that she should take domestic projects first. Personally, I hope it's a movie with popular and award winning veteran actors like Song Kang Ho, Yoo Ji Tae and Ha Jung Woo. She's the queen in terms of Korean dramas, but in Korean movies, it's still a hit or miss. So I hope she could cement herself both as a Queen of Kdrama and Korean movies. Is it too much? I feel greedy as a fan. lol.

If not, just a few new endorsements and cfs will do.

  8. That is beautiful @twtwb. Your writing is impressive, I'm a bit jealous, keke at the same time, I'm glad Kyo has a fan like you, and a male at that! It was love at first sight for me when I saw her on a Chinese channel. I'm a girl and I'm in love with her. Kept on watching autumn in my heart dubbed in Chinese albeit I did not understand a word and I was in fourth grade at that time! Thank you for sharing the excerpt from Hye Kyo's book and of course @khxyfor the translation. We aren't as vocal as other celebs' fans. But I believe we're as passionate, perhaps even more. We try to emulate Kyo's personality as much as possible. Kyonatics try to be classy and respectful just like her. As fans, we keep our behavior in check, since it will reflect on Kyo.
Thank you @MasY and @ewff for coming back. Welcome @metal!

@sunflower91_ my pleasure sunbae! I'll try my best to contribute to this wonderful thread.

  9. It's been a long time since I posted. Life just happened and dragged me away from this wonderful thread. Lol. Oh how I miss Kyo Unnie, still no news about her. Was able to finish ep 15 and 16 just recently, and as much as I love DOTS, the last few episodes, I have to admit and I'm sorry to say, were a bit ridiculous, imo. The plot holes were glaringly evident, I just had to roll my eyes. I'm not going to nitpick since it's a drama, based off fiction anyway. I agree with Korean netizens that the last few episodes' saving grace was Song Hye Kyo. I might sound biased since I'm a fan but her crying scenes were so moving. I cried with her albeit I was 100% sure YSJ was alive. I can't believe anyone can say that they weren't able to cry with her or at least feel moved by her scenes. And not only the crying scenes were laudable, every scene she did throughout the show was flawless. I'm not an acting critique so I don't think I'm reliable with my observations. However, as part of the audience, she did a wonderful job. Such a great actress. I'm such a proud fan. I agree with everyone's comments, she should win a Daesang, not only from KBS awards, but from other reputable award giving bodies. Not only is she a great actress but also a beautiful person with a beautiful heart. She deserves all the best in life. Thank you everyone for all your updates.  I can't back read yet. I'll try do so next time. Kisses and hugs to everyone:wub:
