@Pavlichenko, many thanks for translating that part - I am, needless to say, hoping that HJE will win :)
Netizenbuzz features  this article talking about actors and actresses with "drama luck"  - as chosen by PDs - No: 1 for actresses is Ji Sung's missus.

The four main leads of Secret are mentioned as well.

Does Highest Acting Award Prediction = Daesang ??

**update: just read the title from the source..it's indeed daesang...Whoaaaaa i hope our girl get it. Honestly i was a little bit worried when i read Lee Boo Yoong thread. They said the possibility for her to get daesang because 'My daughter Soo yoong' has 40% rating.

I was so frustrated, because in my area no one is watching Korean series. And just like the heroes of the series I'm obsessed and so I wanted to share it with someone. Your post impressed me and left breathless. Everything you said, as you read my thoughts. Thank you c_gunawan541

Extract relevant to Secret:

Fortunate To A Degree – Ji Sung, Hwang Jung Eun, Joo Won, Lee Da Hee and the other runners up

One of the PDs in the survey states that ”The most sensational works of the year were easily ‘I Can Hear Your Voice’ and ‘Secret’. It’s interesting because projects were not hugely anticipated. They competed against some formidable dramas and came up successful.”

Given this appraisal, I’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear that the two stars of “Secret” took overall runners up in the drama luck votes. Actor Ji Sung took 8 well deserved votes while his compatriot Hwang Jung Eun took a total of 7 votes.

It’s clearly been a great year of Ji Sung and Lee Bo Young. They’ve been voted as having some of the best luck in terms of picking dramas and they’ve capped it off with a wedding this year. Hope to see their successes continue into the new year.

A Bunch Of Lucky Buggers

Other runners up in the male category was KBS “Good Doctors” Joo Won with 5 votes, MBC “Scandal’s” Kim Jae Wonwith 2 votes while Bae Soo Bin, Joo Sang Wook, Kim Woo Bin and Yoon Sang Hyuk took up the rear with a single voteeach.

In the female category, Lee Da Hee got 3 votes thanks to her appearances on “Secret” and “I Can Hear Your Voice.” In some respects she might be the luckiest of them all given that she somehow managed to get involved in two of biggest dramas of the year but alas only as secondary roles. Other runners up include Han Ji Hye and Moon Chae Won with 2 votes, with Gong Hyo Jin, Eugene and Ha Ji Won filling up the rest of the line up with a single vote each.

@cynkdf: You're welcome  ^^

@illay: MDSY won't be compete this year, it already in 2012 KBS Award.

@Schoolers: I also watched three of them in their respective projects this year. As you said, all 3 of them were great (which of course given that they're pinned as Daesang candidates). I honestly can't really compare Joo Won with the other 2 bec. IMO,  actors and actresses should been judge separately.  It always befuddles me that S.Korea drama awards only gives Highest Award to just one person (only sometimes they split it to 2 persons). They should always have one for actress and one for actor.  As my knowledge, every other movie/drama awards around the world do that; Academy Award, Emmy, Golden Globe, etc. Bec. there always roles that can be portrayed by one gender only, therefore can't be judged in the same frame. For example, I can't say whether Joo Won will be able to portray Yoo-jung better than HJE, can I? LOL.

Now between Jung Eum and Kim Hye Soo, no offense for KHS's fans, I choose HJE. Not just bec. I'm a fan of JE. I also have high regard for KHS as a respected veteran actress, she's a great actress esp. in movies. IMO she's more suited to movie medium than drama. She's perfect as Ms. Kim in Queen of Office, no doubt. Ms. Kim also an interesting layered character. But, though I know it's bec. of the drama genre, KHS' Ms. Kim didn't have that many emotional impacts, up-and-down tribulations scenes that HJE's Yoo-jung had.
And then, I try to get them super-imposed. In that, I try to imagine they swap roles. Though it's kinda hard bec. they both are from different generation (15 years age difference); but IMO, HJE can also play Ms. Kim splendidly 15 years later; while 15 years ago KHS IMO wouldn't be able to play YJ as good as HJE. KHS, when she was HJE's age, still wasn't that good of an actress.

@Pavlichenko - agree 100% with you re the Daesang, I think it's only fair if there's a prize each for Best Actor and Best Actress.

Short and oh-so-sweet review of Secret:

4. Secret

Secret_Love-p

This drama nearly made me break my laptop. I’ve never been so attached to a drama like i did with Secret. Forget keeping me on the edge of my seat, I was on the floor for this one. If you have time to kill and don’t mind getting mind blown after every episode, I’d suggest this drama to you. Definitely my favourite drama as of 2013.

Article about the writers of the top 3 surprise successful box office K-dramas of the year, one of them being Secret.  Apologies for always asking for translations but since this is about the writers (and IMHO a great cast cannot salvage a drama with a poor script so good writing is paramount), it would be wonderful to have a better idea of what was written about the two writers who gave us Secret.

@saranghaechoiseunghyun thank you for all your post. I cant get over this drama. She left me with a wonderful sense of flickering. Similar feelings when you fall in love. I hope to win a prize, because not only is the story good, first-class acting, beautiful music but is perfectly staged and filmed, some shots I seldom sight in drama land.

I disagree with her review but lack the articulateness (?) to post a suitable riposte.
More favourable reviews of Secret here :)

y Staff Writer  Dec 10, 2013 04:10 PM ESTic_art_+.gif ic_art_-.gific_art_email.gific_art_print.gif class="cb b15" style="font-weight: normal; margin: 0px; padding: 0px 0px 15px; border: 0px; font-size: 27px; outline: 0px; line-height: 30px; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: rgb(34, 34, 34); letter-spacing: -0.5px; clear: both; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"‘The Heirs’ Is Most Popular Korean Drama Abroad

In a study conducted with the people in 26 countries, SBS Wednesday Thursday drama "The Heirs" ranked the number one most watched Korean drama abroad. On the second most watched Korean drama abroad, MBC drama "Gu Family Book" was picked. For the third most, KBS drama "Secret," for the fourth most, SBS drama "Master Of The Sun," and for the fifth most, SBS drama "I Hear Your Voice" was picked.

The study was conducted by the international communicators for a week. The study was based on the residents of 26 countries such as China, Kazakhstan, India, Germany, Taiwan, and the United States among many others. The participants who responded that they watch Korean dramas were asked to pick their top five Korean dramas.

The SBS Wednesday Thursday drama "The Heirs" which is currently playing in SBS, was ranked as one of the top five most popular Korean dramas in ten regions, such as Beijing, China, Kazakhstan, and India. In addition to the five dramas aforementioned, KBS drama, "That Winter, This Wind Blows," and KBS drama "God Of Workplace" also ranked high. This shows that international Korean drama audiences are watching the dramas as they are being aired in Korea, which is different from the old method of the international broadcasting companies buying the copyrights of the Korean dramas and then the dramas attracting the attention of the international audiences.
