butterflyeffect
help So I'm on a laptop, and the volume was working fine but all of a sudden the sound just stopped working. How can I fix this?
froggy604
make sure that your volume is not muted. in the volume controls. Check the plugs to the speakers. maybe you knocked them off. Try reinstalling the sound drivers. restart your comp.

awdark
Do you get errors like Direct Sound or drivers.. or No audio hardware.. stuff like that? oR does it pretend to play and you don't hear anything? Can you plug in a pair of headphones and listen?
butterflyeffect
I don't get any errors or things like that. I try to play it, but no sound comes out. Unfortunately, I don't have a pair of headphones but I don't think it will work since sometimes it just has sound for a few seconds but silences again. Maybe I broke something? I don't see how though. :\
froggy604
I used to have a pair of old speakers that were bad the sound sometimes work and sometimes it doesnt. You can plug in regular computer speakers or speakers that has a 3.5mm plug "ear bud headphone style plugs" Your sound drivers can be found on your laptop manufactuer download page, or the laptop model page. You can ask your laptop manufactuer to mail you the drivers, if you can't find them yourself. Maybe your laptop came with a cd with sound driver for reinstalling drivers. If your sound device is broken in your laptop you can always buy a USB soundcard. But, you need to also buy a pair of speakers for it cuz the speakers on your laptop are connected to your laptops sound device. maybe your Directx install is messed up. here is the link for ms directx 9 win98-xp-pro: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en directx 10 "windows vista to ultimate" :http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/AboutGFW/Pages/DirectX10.aspx http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...usb%2bsoundcard like this one for 16 bucks.
