Interview with flower boy Lee Minho whom no one can possibly dislike

KBS 2TV ‘꽃보다 남자’에서 구준표 역으로 꽃남 신드롬을 일으킨 주인공. 올해 백상예술대상 남자신인상을 수상한 이민호의 모습은 화면에서 보던 도도하고 차갑던 이미지와는 달리 수수하게 웃는 모습이 마냥 귀여운 남자였다. 꽃보다 아름다운 남자 이민호를 만나 인터뷰했다.

-원래 성격이 까칠한가.

“실제로는 까칠하지 않다. 낙천적이고 활달하다. 술을 많이 못 먹어서 주로 술 대신 저녁 약속을 많이 잡는 편이다. 게임을 좋아하는 데 인터넷 게임도 하고, 특히 플레이스테이션에서 내기하는 것을 즐겨한다. 돈내기를 하는 것은 아니다(웃음).”

-극중 구준표 역을 연기하면서 어려웠던 점은.

“구준표와 같이 ‘싸가지’ 없는 연기를 하기는 쉽지 않다. 남들은 살갑게 다가오는데 그것을 외면해 버리거나 악담을 하는 캐릭터 잡기가 처음에는 힘들었다. 특히 최근에는 약혼녀로 등장하는 재경에게 그런 연기를 계속하는 게 곤혹스러웠다. ”

-원작 만화 속 캐릭터와 본인의 캐릭터를 비교한다면.

“점수 매기기가 매우 어렵다. 굳이 매기자면 70점 정도 될 것 같다. 이제는 만화 속의 구준표와 같이 까칠하고 차가운 연기도 서슴없이 할 수 있다.”

-극중 구혜선씨와의 키스신이 장안의 화제였다. 느낌이 어땠나.

“사실 키스신을 할 때까지는 드라마에 몰입돼 감정이 올라 있는 상태였기 때문에 창피하거나 쑥스럽거나 그러지는 않았다. 하지만 하고 난 뒤에는 굉장히 어색했다. 특히 스태프들이 뭔가 못 볼 것을 본 듯한 그런 얼굴을 하고 있었다. (웃음) 극중 금잔디와 감정을 교류하고 사랑을 확인했던 ‘그네 키스신’은 조금 설레기도 했다.”

-키스신 전에 구혜선씨는 사탕을 먹는다고 하는데.

“가글을 할 때도 있고, 사탕을 먹을 때도 있다. 그때 그때 상황에 따라 다르다.”

-극중 구준표처럼 애인이 생겼는데 실제로 부모님의 반대에 부딪친다면.

“나는 준표보다 더 심하게 할 것이다. 만나고 싶은 사람이면 만날 것이다. 그래도 부모님이 반대한다면 사랑의 도피를 하겠다. 일단 튀고 보겠다. ”

-구혜선, 박보영씨 등과 파트너를 해봤다. 파트너로 연기하고 싶은 다른 여배우는.

송혜교씨와 해보고 싶다. 송혜교씨가 이상형인데, 정말 같이 연기를 한다면 굉장히 떨릴 것 같다. 여자친구를 만들 계획은 있지만, 막상 그러기가 쉽지는 않다.”

-꽃남이다. 본인의 외모 중 부족한 부분은 뭐라고 생각하는가.

“운동을 많이 해서 탄탄한 몸을 만들고 싶은데, 시간적 여유가 없는 것이 안타깝다. ‘꽃남’에서 노출신이 많아 점점 부담이 된다. 작품이 끝나면 몸을 좀 더 보완할 생각이다. ”

‘꽃보다 남자’가 끝나고 서른 살이 넘고 중년 배우가 됐을 때, 후배들한테 존경받는 배우가 되고 싶다고 말하는 23세의 대한민국 대표 꽃남 이민호. 꽃보다 남자들 때문에 꽃가게에 꽃이 덜 팔릴지라도 꽃가게 여주인은 이민호를 미워할 수 없을 것이다. 꽃남이니까.

I'll just translate some parts I understand. Minho was asked how he felt about the kiss scene with goo hyesun?

He said that he was initially immersed in his role and therefore didn't feel embarrassment or shy. It was only after filming was completed that he began to feel extremely awkward. Especially the fact that the staff were saying they didn't get to see the shoot clearly (ok, dunno whether i got that part right). The reporter told minho that hyesun said she ate sweets before filming the kiss scene. Minho said he gargles or eats sweets for preparation, depending on the situation. Minho was then asked who else would he like to have as a female partner in a production. He answered song hye gyo since she's his ideal. If they are really able to film together, he anticipates that he'll really be trembling. Then he says this other sentence that i shall not translate in case i took it out of context. So someone care to help out?
