Lee Min-ho grateful for "Boys Over Flowers"

Lee Min-ho showed appreciation for the KBS 2TV drama "Boys over Flowers" for restoring his confidence.

Lee Min-ho looked back on his past works in an interview with News Cookie. He is now on the top of Hallyu but it wasn't easy. He debuted in 2006 with "Secret Campus" and continued to star in "Mackerel Run", "Our School E.T" and more but didn't get any attention. He then appeared in "Boys over Flowers" which created a syndrome.

Lee Min-ho said, "I was afraid of going to work when I was making "Secret Campus". Everything was intense and scary to me. I was always rigid even while making "Boys over Flowers" because I just couldn't afford to relax. I maintained intensity until I was sure I had achieved something".

"Boys over Flowers" was his turning point. "I had lost much confidence by then but the drama helped me recover. I was able to become a better man thanks to it".

"That drama also threw me out into the world. I was very poor and the drama changed all that. I am grateful for "Boys over Flowers"".

"Gangnam Blues" is director Yoo Ha's third street series. Two men fight over rights to property during the 70s when the land of Kangnam went through development.

GB was released in China the same day as Korea, right?  Does anyone know how the movie is doing in China?

@CarolynH‌ Movie is yet to be released in China---March, I believe. Its first week of showing was exclusive in SK. Staggered Rollout to other countries only started on week 2.

Fame forces Lee Min-ho to keep low profile

Hallyu star Lee Min-ho says that he has become hampered by the magnitude of his fame.

In an interview with a local media outlet, Lee said that he was normally unable to see the results of his popularity firsthand.

“In China, everyone I’m accompanying is surprised by the number of fans in proportion to China’s large population,” he was quoted as saying.

“I haven’t been able to do much when abroad. (The places I manage to visit) are basically the hotel and event venues.”
He added that he always used back entrances at airports and hotels.

“Since many people come to events (where I) meet the fans, I can feel their love, but in reality there simply aren’t many opportunities for me to experience things,” he said in the interview.

The 27-year-old actor also said that in China the police advise him not to go out for meals so he usually orders room service.

In his latest film, “Gangnam 1970,” marketed overseas as “Gangnam Blues,” Lee plays the role of Kim Jong-dae, an impoverished yet ambitious young man who tries to take advantage of the real estate boom in the 1970s.

Good news: GB is back on top of the Box Office for Monday, Feb. 2,  but is neck to neck with Ode to My Father when it comes to admissions. Based on this link, GB has 50,989 while Ode has 50,967 ! But it leads revenue share, 21.8% vs 20.7%.
