Jun Ji Hyun and Kang Dong Won may be uniting for a new drama!

On March 28, an industry representative reported that the two stars will be starring in the new drama “Polaris” (working title).

In response to the report, a source from Jun Ji Hyun’s agency IEUM HASHTAG commented, “Jun Ji Hyun was offered a role in the drama ‘Polaris’ and is positively reviewing [the offer].” A representative of Kang Dong Won also responded, “It is one of several projects he has been offered.”

“Polaris” is a new spy romance drama and tells the stories of spies who work to find their true selves. The drama will be created by screenwriter Jung Seo Kyung and director Kim Hee Won, who previously worked together on “Little Women.” Jung Seo Kyung has also worked on hits including “The Handmaiden,” “Mother,” and “Decision to Leave,” while Kim Hee Won has led productions such as “The Crowned Clown,” “Crash Landing on You,” “Vincenzo,” and more.

As Kang Dong Won has mostly appeared in films, this will be his fourth drama ever and his first drama in nearly 20 years since “Magic” in 2004 if he accepts the offer. Jun Ji Hyun has starred in dramas more frequently, receiving love for her roles in “My Love From the Star,” “The Legend of the Blue Sea,” “Jirisan,” and more.

“Polaris” is set to begin filming once casting is complete.

On March 28, several media outlets reported that top stars Jun Ji Hyun and Kang Dong Won will be working together with the brilliant team of Little Women. Reports stated that the two will be the main leads of the upcoming tvN K-drama titled Polaris.

Jun Ji Hyun's agency IEUM HASHTAG responded to the casting reports. According to them, Jun Ji Hyun is positively reviewing the offer to star in the new series. Meanwhile, Kang Dong Won's representative also shared their side and stated, "It is one of the works that was offered to the actor." 

Polaris will be the next collaboration work of director Kim Hee Won (Vincenzo and The Crowned Clown) and writer Jung Seo Kyung (Mother and The Handmaiden). Last year, they worked together for the hit series Little Women.

The upcoming spy romance drama will revolve around spies who lost their identities and continuously work to search for their true selves. 

According to the reports, Polaris will begin its production once the casting is finally complete. 

Many are already anticipating of this possible great combination in the K-drama world. 

 

 

If Jun Ji Hyun confirms her casting, this will be her comeback to the small screen after two years. She was last seen in the 2021 K-drama Jirisan together with Joo Ji Hoon, Sung Dong Il, Oh Jung Se, Jo Han Chul, and Joo Min Kyung.

On March 27, media outlets shared that the upcoming K-drama Polaris has begun filming. Some staff of the K-drama also shared posts hinting at the start of the filming. It was stated that the K-drama has begun its filming last March 25. 

Polaris will tell the romance story of two spies who lost their identities and continuously worked to search for their true selves.
