 ‘Quiet Sales’ focuses on the story of three female protagonists who sell adult products door-to-door,in a rural village in Jeolla Province in the 1990s, when it was naturally accepted that 'women should retire at the age of 28-35', and depicts the society of the 1990s and the lives of women in a pleasant and honest way through the various episodes they experience and unique characters. It goes beyond simply selling adult products and deliver a deep message by dealing with the conservative attitudes of the society at the time, awareness of sex, and women's independence and growth.

 

In the rural village of Geumje in 1992, four women begin door-to-door sales of adult products. They have different reasons for getting involved in the business venture. They gain financial independence and develop friendships, through their work.

Han Jung Sook (Kim So Yeon)  is a housewife. She was once the 1st runner-up in a local beauty contest and she married the man who was her first love. Her life is modest and ordinary, but she suffers from financial difficulties. She is unable to afford a new bag for her only son and she worries about making her monthly rent. This provides a wake up call for her. She soon jumps into door-to-door sales of imported adult products. She discovers that she has a talent for marketing and sales.

 

Kim Do Hyun (Yeon Ji Woo) is from the United States. Having grown up in a wealthy family and graduated from an Ivy League college, Do Hyun is promoted at high speed at the Seoul Gangnam Police Station. However, for some unknown reason, he comes down to the rural Geumje Police Station, raising intrigue about his secret.

 

Oh Geum Hee (Kim Sung Ryung) is educated as a woman who graduated from university, she is now spending boring afternoons killing time after marriage through a family arrangement and following her husband down to his hometown of Geumje. To help Han Jung-Sook, who once worked as her housekeeper, she begins to work door-to-door sales of imported adult products. This leads her to have an unexpected self-reflection.

 

Seo Young Bok (Kim Sun Young) has a great relationship with her husband and a fruitful family life. However, she struggles internally as her six-member family has to sleep together in a small room. With her goal of giving her children rooms of their own, Seo Young Bok partakes in selling adult products. Due to her experience of raising four children, Seo Young Bok is able to overcome any hardship with humor.

 

Lee Joo Ri (Lee Se Hee) is the town’s “it girl” and single mom who is raising her son on her own while running a hair salon. Even when men send her leering gazes at her for wearing revealing outfits that she enjoys wearing, she remains unfazed with a smiling face and sweet manner of speech. Considering the sales of adult products to be a fun event in her boring everyday life, she eventually matures through the process.

Kim Sung Ryung and Lee Se Hee are in talks to join the upcoming K-drama Quiet Sales (working title). 

On March 15, several media outlets reported that Kim Sung Ryung and Lee Se Hee would be working alongside Kim So Yeon in the upcoming K-drama Quiet Sales. 

Kim Sung Ryung's side confirmed the reports. According to FN Entertainment, "It is true that Kim Sung Ryung will be joining the new JTBC K-drama Quiet Sales." 

Meanwhile, Lee Se Hee's side also gave their response to the casting news. JWide Company stated, "Lee Se Hee received the offer to star in the new JTBC series and she is positively reviewing it."

 This will be the first K-drama of Kim Sung Ryung for 2024. She was recently seen in the Netflix original film My Name Is Loh Kiwan led by Song Joong Ki, Choi Sung Eun, Jo Han Chul, Lee Il Hwa, and Lee Sang Hee. The actress will also lead the upcoming movie New Generation War: Reawakened Man with Koo Kyo Hwan, Shin Seung Ho, Kang Ki Young, and Kim Shi Ah. 

If Lee Se Hee accepts the offer, this will be her second upcoming K-drama. She will also star in the new series titled Love in the Big City. She will work closely with Nam Yoon Su, Lee Soo Kyung, Oh Hyun Kyung, Kwon Hyuk, and Lee Hyun So.

Quiet Sales will tell the story of door-to-door salespeople in the 1990s. The K-drama was first offered to actress Kim So Yeon.

Earlier today, various South Korean news media reported actresses Kim Sung Ryung and Lee Se Hee were joining Kim So Yeon in the JTBC drama Quiet Sales (working title).

Not long after Kim Sung Ryung’s agency, FN Entertainment, confirmed the actress is joining the cast of Quiet Sales, while Lee Se Hee’s agency J-Wide Company responded with the usual statement “She has received an offer to star in Quiet Sales, and is positively reviewing it”.

In other words, if you are a fan of both Korean actresses, don’t get too excited just yet.

 

While not much has yet been released about the new JTBC drama, we do know it is a period piece in that it takes place in the 1990s, and follows a group of women who work as door-to-door salespeople.

Kim So Yeon, who has already accepted a starring role in the new K-drama, is playing Jung Sook, a saleswoman who sells adult products.

Should Lee Se Hee accept the role, she will play a single mother who is also involved in the sales work.

As fans of the now-57-year-old actress will already know, Kim Sung Ryung already has an extensive body of work behind her.

Quiet Sales, in which she will also play a door-to-door saleswoman, will be her first K-drama of 2024, but hopefully it won’t be the incredibly talented actress’ last.

As far as Lee Se Hee goes, while not possessing as large a body of work as Kim Sung Ryung (yet), if she does accept the Quiet Sales role alongside Kim Sung Ryung, it will be her second upcoming drama, as she is already starring in the 8-episode Love in the Big City.

The 32-year-old Lee has also starred in Fight Hard, Love Harder, Sandwich Theory, Young Lady and Gentleman, and her most recent drama Bad Prosecutor.

Fingers crossed Lee Se Hee accepts the Quiet Sales role, as it would be cool to see her in two dramas this year.

Actress Kim Sun Young is joining the cast of the upcoming JTBC K-drama Quiet Sales. 

On March 20, media outlets revealed that Kim Sun Young will be one of the main leads of the upcoming K-drama Quiet Sales. 

She will work with confirmed casts Kim So Yeon, Kim Sung Ryung, and Lee Se Hee.

More information about the drama. I like what I read about Kim Sung Ryung `s character and I can`t wait to read about the other two female leads, especially about Jung Sook, So yeon`s character. After all, not only did she win the Best Actress award in the film category at South Korea’s 22nd Annual Director’s Cut Awards earlier this month, but she has just been announced as one of the main leads in the upcoming new drama Quiet Sales.

Considering the 47-year-old actress tends to be cast in supporting roles or guest roles in Korean dramas more than in main roles, she must be thrilled.

Kim Sun Young will also join a stellar cast, as confirmed leads of Quiet Sales include Kim So Yeon and Kim Sung Ryung — the three Kims, in other words.

According to Korean news reports, she will play the part of a wife and mother in Quiet Sales, who is also one of the door-to-door salespeople the drama follows.

Let’s hope this time around she gets to play a woman who isn’t quite as manipulative or conniving as she has been in some of her most recent dramas (I’m looking at you Her Private Life and Crash Course in Romance).

If you watch a fair number of Korean dramas, you will have seen Kim Sun Young’s superb performances in many of them.
