“Good Partner” stars Jang Nara and Nam Ji Hyun joined ELLE Korea for a pictorial and interview!

 

“Good Partner” is an office and law drama about star lawyer Cha Eun Kyung (Jang Nara), for whom divorce is her calling, and rookie lawyer Han Yu Ri (Nam Ji Hyun), who is new to divorce.

 

The photo shoot focused on capturing a cheerful atmosphere and chemistry between Jang Nara and Nam Ji Hyun as if the two go on vacation together away from the lawyers’ office.

 

In an interview that followed the photo shoot, Nam Ji Hyun shared, “The script reads well. Unlike other trials, domestic trials such as divorce often require meeting clients in person. There are quite a few dramas that feature lawyers, but our drama has its fun in that [viewers] can meet divorce lawyers as professionals.”

 

 

“Good Partner” is penned by divorce specialist lawyer Choi Yu Na of the relatable Instagram cartoon “Marriage Red” (literal title). When asked if lawyer Choi Yu Na gave her any special tips, Jang Nara shared, “I got a lot of specific advice from writer Choi Yu Na about the professionalism of the job and the language of lawyers.”

 

 

Jang Nara shared that she tried to follow lawyer Choi Yu Na’s Instagram before the casting news was out, but she saw the description “divorce lawyer” written on her profile, saying, “I got married only recently, so I was seriously worried about being misunderstood.” She added, “It was the first time I’ve waited so long for an official casting announcement to be out,” drawing laughter on set.

The drama series that is set at a law firm Daejung behins with actor Pyo Ji-Hoon stating “When I say that I am a lawyer of a large law firm, people think that I recite cool lines and show off like in a drama series. While working on divorce cases, she soon faces a crisis with her own potential divorce. At her law firm, she works alongside rookie lawyer Han Yoo-Ri (Nam Ji-Hyun). They are completely different from each other. Han Yoo-Ri doesn’t tolerate injustice, while Cha Eun-Kyeong believes that the interests of the law firm and her clients come first no matter what. SBS has unveiled a new poster for its upcoming drama “Good Partner”!

Written by an actual divorce attorney, “Good Partner” will depict the humorous struggles of two very different divorce lawyers: Cha Eun Kyung (Jang Nara), a star lawyer for whom divorce is her calling, and Han Yu Ri (Nam Ji Hyun), a rookie lawyer who is still new to divorce.

A famous and successful lawyer with 17 years of experience under her belt, Cha Eun Kyung is the envy of all, but she has a prickly personality and doesn’t sugarcoat the facts. She winds up undergoing a major change in her life when she crosses paths with newbie Han Yu Ri, who is her polar opposite in terms of personality, values, perspective, and experience.

Unlike the cold and efficient Cha Eun Kyung, whose top priority is always what’s best for the firm, Han Yu Ri can’t bear seeing injustice—leading the two attorneys to clash at every turn.

However, the newly released poster offers a glimpse of the powerful alliance between this unlikely duo. As they stand together in contrasting black and white, armed with Cha Eun Kyung’s phone and a stack of papers, the two women make an intimidating pair. The poster’s caption also hints at their determination, reading, “Let’s give them the greatest divorce show.”

 

 

Praising the two actresses’ chemistry, director Kim Ga Ram enthused, “I’d give [their chemistry] a score of 100 out of 100. From the situations where they clash due to their different views on a case, to their journey of bonding and becoming closer as the show progresses, they have an incredible ability to really bring out all the different facets of their relationship.”

On June 27, SBS's upcoming Friday-Saturday drama Good Partner released its fourth teaser.

The teaser gives a glimpse of the hustle and bustle of Daejeong Law Firm's lawyers' work life. Unlike the cool and calm veteran lawyers Cha Eun Kyung (Jang Na Ra) and Jung Woo Jin (Kim Joon Han), rookie lawyers Han Yoo Ri (Nam Ji Hyun) and Jeon Eun Ho (P.O) are shown struggling to keep up with them. Jeon Eun Ho says, "When you say you're a lawyer at a large law firm, people imagine you deliver impressive lines like in dramas. But in reality, it's just hard office work."

The reactions of the four team members facing extraordinary divorce cases are also intriguing. 

 

 

At the same time, Cha Eun Kyung's brutal honesty raises curiosity about the stories of clients who came to the divorce team for help.

 

Her sharp words, "You should learn with a humble attitude from now on. If you don't like it, you can start your own practice," leaves Han Yoo Ri dejected and Jung Woo Jin and Jeon Eun Ho awkwardly smiling.

After P.O finishes his shoot, the production staff mentions that he was the quickest to finish. P.O. jokingly remarks, “Everyone wants to go home soon since it’s the last shoot.”

As much as I want to watch this drama for Jang Nara, haven't been impressed by her drama choices the last few years. Am gonna wait for the first episodes to air before I make a choice whether to watch it or not.
