In the drama, Han Suk Kyu, Chae Won Bin, and Oh Yun Soo portray a family divided by suspicion. Han Suk Kyu plays Jang Tae Soo, a father and profiler who suspects his daughter. On October 8, the production team released stills of Han Suk Kyu as Jang Tae Soo, a father who suspects his daughter. The images highlight the sharp contrast between Jang Tae Soo, a skilled profiler at the crime scene, and his shortcomings as a father at home.

 

 

In one still, Jang Tae Soo is shown investigating a case with a sharp, intense gaze. However, at home, he is far from professional; he appears gruff and has a distant, awkward relationship with his daughter. When Jang Tae Soo learns that his daughter is connected to a murder case, his defenses collapse, driving him to desperately uncover the truth.

In newly released stills from the upcoming drama, Jang Tae Soo interviews Lee Eo Jin (Han Ye Ri) and Koo Dae Hong (Noh Jae Won) as potential candidates for his team. The two police officers are completely different in terms of how they approach a case: the cool-headed Lee Eo Jin focuses on the facts, while Noh Jae Won places greater importance on empathy.

 

During their job interview, Lee Eo Jin—who has always been a huge fan of Jang Tae Soo—is visibly nervous after meeting her longtime idol. On the other hand, Koo Dae Hong is completely relaxed as he answers Jang Tae Soo’s questions with a smile.

Reasons to watch: Taking over the slot after Black Out’s success, Doubt offers an equally gutting and intense tale. Now, I love Han Seok-kyu and don’t want to see him sad, so this will be a hard one for me. He plays a renowned criminal profiler who begins to suspect his own daughter (Chae Won-bin) in a case, and, as expected, it starts to tear apart the trust between them. The drama also stars Han Ye-ri and Oh Yeon-soo — and with the PD from Wild Boar Hunting at the helm, I’ve no doubt (pun intended) this will be dark and riveting.

 

TL;DR: Han Seok-kyu is in for a rough go when he profiles his own daughter in a murder case

According to Nielsen Korea, the first episode of “Doubt” scored an average nationwide rating of 5.6 percent—double the ratings achieved by the premiere of its predecessor “Black Out,” the drama that previously occupied its time slot (and which premiered to a nationwide average of 2.8 percent).

On the first episode of “Doubt,” Jang Tae Soo came to the shocking realization that Ha Bin was linked to the murder case he was looking into. After lying to her father that she was going on a school trip, Ha Bin’s last known whereabouts were near the scene of the crime—and this knowledge chilled Tae Soo to the bone. Unable to shake off his doubts about his daughter, Tae Soo looked at her with conflicting emotions.

In newly released stills from the drama’s upcoming second episode, a miserable Tae Soo is torn between suspecting and trusting his daughter. Whether looking nervous during a briefing at the police station or getting drenched in the rain while running around trying to uncover Ha Bin’s secret, Tae Soo’s desperation is palpable.

As the soaked Tae Soo gazes at his daughter in despair, it’s unclear whether his face is wet from the rain or his tears. Meanwhile, Ha Bin’s eyes are slightly teary as she looks back at him, piquing curiosity as to what it is that Tae Soo has found out.

Later, although Ha Bin urges her father to trust her, her suspicious expression as she returns home suggests that she is hiding something from him.

Ha Bin then caught Tae Soo off guard by responding with some chilling questions about the deaths of her mother and brother—but just as he was shaken by her unexpected reaction, the doorbell rang.

 

In newly released stills from the drama’s next episode, the detectives investigating the case pay a visit to Ha Bin at home to ask her where she was on the day of the incident. Ha Bin remains utterly calm and composed throughout police questioning, giving them her alibi without so much as batting an eyelash.
