Plot

"Golden Hour" will tell the story of the severe trauma team that is centered on doctor Baek Kang Hyuk, the head of the severe trauma center at a university hospital.

 

 

Notes

The series will be based on a Naver webtoon of the same name written by a real doctor. A web novel written by Han San Yi (an otolaryngologist at Inha University Hospital) was inspired by the autobiographical essay ‘Golden Hour’ by Professor Lee Kuk-jong of Ajou University College of Medicine.

Character descriptions

 

Baek Kang Hyuk is a trauma surgeon that is labeled as a crazy and violent angel at the severe trauma center. Baek Kang Hyuk is known for being tall, handsome, and skillful with his craft. Baek Sang-hyeok, a genius trauma surgeon with a great sense of duty but not a good personality, dares to open a patient's neck while the helicopter is shaking violently, and demonstrates his skills without regret even in the absence of specialized equipment.

Joo Ji Hoon receives offer to lead a web novel based series!

Joo Ji Hoon will reportedly lead the upcoming drama "Golden Hour."

On September 15th, several media outlets shared that Joo Ji Hoon had been picked as the main lead of the upcoming web novel based drama "Golden Hour." 

Joo Ji Hoon's agency H& Entertainment responded to the reports and stated that the actor did receive the offer to lead the drama and he is currently reviewing it. 

"Golden Hour" will tell the story of the severe trauma team that is centered on doctor Baek Kang Hyuk, the head of the severe trauma center at a university hospital. 

The series will be based on a Naver webtoon of the same name written by a real doctor. 

Joo Ji Hoon got the offer to play the lead role named Baek Kang Hyuk. He is a trauma surgeon that is labeled as a crazy and violent angel at the severe trauma center.

If Joo Ji Hoon confirms his casting, this will be his first time in about 10 years to appear in a medical drama. He last starred in the 2013's series "Medical Top Team."

"Golden Hour" will be penned by writer  So Hyun Kyung, the same writer of the dramas "My Golden Life," "Twenty Again," "Two Weeks," "49 Days," and more. 

There are no specific details yet on the broadcast date, channel, and other casts for the upcoming drama. 

 

 

If Joo Ji Hoon accepts the offer, this will be his second upcoming drama. The actor will also lead the series "Dominant Species" together with Han Hyo Joo, Lee Hee Joon, Lee Moo Saeng, and Park Ji Yeon.

Joo Ji Hoon will also star in the upcoming films "Gentleman" and the reported "Along with the Gods 3."

Korean actor Joo Ji Hoon in talks to star in Severe Trauma Center: Golden Hour – playing lead Baek Kang Hyuk of course

 

According to various Korean entertainment outlets, actor Joo Ji Hoon is currently in talks to star in the upcoming medical drama series Severe Trauma Center: Golden Hour (aka 중증외상센터: 골든 아워 in Korean).

H& Entertainment, the actor’s agency, has confirmed the talks, but says he has only received an offer and his participation in the drama is not as yet confirmed.

Should Joo Ji Hoon accept the offer, he will be playing the lead role of Dr. Baek Kang Hyuk — the head of the severe trauma center at a Korea university hospital.

 

Severe Trauma Center: Golden Hour is based on the popular manhwa Jungjeung-oesang Center: Golden Hour by writer Hansanleega and illustrator Hong Bichira (official website here).

It is also a manwha that is quite true to life, as Hansan Leega is a medical doctor himself (Dr. Lee Nak Joon), and Hong Bichira is a medical illustrator.

The upcoming drama based on the manwha has been written by So Hyun Kyung (Twenty Again and My Golden Life).

As for Joo Ji Hoon, he is known for his starring roles in drama like Lucifer, Five Fingers, Mask and Kingdom, as well as in the medical-themed series Medical Top Team.

In 2023, the actor is already filming the sci-fi thriller series Dominant Species, as well as the fantasy disaster thriller Silence. He is also scheduled to star in the movies Along with the Gods 3 and 4.

Choo Young Woo is in talks to join the upcoming K-drama Severe Trauma Center: Golden Hour.

On April 18, various media channels revealed that Choo Young Woo will be joining Joo Ji Hoon in the upcoming web novel-based K-drama titled Severe Trauma Center: Golden Hour.

Choo Young Woo's agency then responded to the reports. According to JWIde Company, their artist Choo Young Woo is currently reviewing the offer to star in the new K-drama. 

If Choo Young Woo confirms his casting, this will be his follow-up K-drama after Oasis. He is currently part of the KBS K-drama together with Jang Dong Yoon, Seol In Ah, Do Sang Woo, Oh My Girl's Hyun Seung Hee, and Jin Yi Han. 

Choo Young Woo made his acting debut in 2021. If he will officially join Severe Trauma Center: Golden Hour, this will be his first time portraying a doctor role. He usually stars as a student in his past dramas.

The actor is known for being part of the K-dramas You Make Me Dance, Police University, School 2021, Once Upon a Small Town, and more.
 

 

Severe Trauma Center: Golden Hour will base its story on the web novel of the same name penned by Han San Yi, a known Youtuber, and otolaryngologist. The series will showcase the journey of the genius surgeon Baek Kang Hyuk and his medical team at the Severe Trauma Center.

Joo Ji Hoon will play the role of the genius surgeon named Baek Kang Hyuk. Choo Young Woo on the other hand got the offer to play the role of Yang Jae Won. He is the first student of Baek Kang Hyuk in trauma surgery. He is the only son of a doctor's family and a scholar student at medical school. 

The upcoming K-drama will be penned by writer So Hyun Kyung, the same writer for the series My Golden Life and Twenty Again.

There are no other castings revealed yet aside from Joo Ji Hoon and Choo Young Woo.
