The drama is about a rookie public defender who’s only three months into her job when she has to defend the murderer who killed his own significant other. Jung Ryeo-won’s character is the main lead who has been a motae solo (“single since birth”) for her entire 33 years of life. As she’s called to defend this murderer, she falls into the biggest moral dilemma of her career. If Jung Ryeo-won confirms, it’ll be her third legal drama. In Witch at Court and Diary of a Prosecutor, she played the prosecutor, so it’ll be interesting to see her take on a lawyer’s role in I Will Start the Defense. Written by Kim Dan and directed by Kang Min-goo, I Will Start the Defense will begin filming next February, and will likely air sometime in 2023 on the global online platform OTT. https://www.dramabeans.com/2021/12/jung-ryeo-won-considers-new-legal-drama/ ***** Jung Ryeo Won And Lee Kyu Hyung Confirmed To Star In New Drama Dec 3, 2021 by L. Kim Jung Ryeo Won and Lee Kyu Hyung will be starring together in an exciting new drama! On December 3, it was confirmed that the two actors would both be appearing in the upcoming drama “Let’s Start the Defense” (literal translation). Helmed by “Itaewon Class” producing director (PD) Kang Min Gu, “Let’s begin the Defense” is a legal mystery drama about two public defenders who become entangled in a serial murder case involving wealthy elderly people. The drama is written by rookie writer Kim Dan, who won the Excellence Award at the Korea Story Contest, and produced by Arc Media, the production company behind “The King’s Affection” that is expanding the domestic and international base of K-content. Jung Ryeo Won, whose last project was about two years ago, will play No Chak Hee, who was once an ace lawyer with the highest winning rate but has been demoted to a public defense lawyer. Her name “Chak Hee” represents “living a good life,” but her last name “No” symbolizes how she has deviated from that expectation. She is someone who fiercely works hard and will go through any means to win a case. However, a year ago just before she was about to be promoted to a partner, her license was almost suspended after she got tangled up in a certain case. larus
Bickering lawyers toss around insults in Disney+’s May It Please the Court by missvictrix Disney+ has recently dropped its second teaser for the upcoming legal drama May It Please the Court, and I’m already loving the chemistry between our leads Jung Ryeo-won (Diary of a Prosecutor) and Lee Kyu-hyung (All of Us Are Dead). I mean, who doesn’t love some foul-mouthed-yet-good-natured bickering? Jung Ryeo-won plays hotshot lawyer Noh Chak-hee, who’s known as a “crazy dog” who will do whatever it takes to win a case. Okay, nothing earth-shattering with that character description, but it looks like the fun will be in seeing her pitted against public defender Jwa Shi-baek (Lee Kyu-hyung), who seems her polar opposite. Spoiler The teaser opens with an interview-style feel, and we first meet Chak-hee who’s asked about Jwa Shi-baek. With haughty distain she makes fun of his odd name and scoffs. We then switch cameras to Shi-baek who’s asked about her, and he makes fun of her name as well, with some wordplay around how it sounds like “car (cha) key.” The banter continues as they bad mouth and gossip about each other, and Chak-hee insists he’s a total lunatic, while Shi-baek insists she’s rude and unruly. The mock interviews escalate until, instead of seeing the two head-on, the footage maps them together so they’re facing each other. Shi-baek continues his car key joke and Chak-hee gives him the finger as the teaser comes to a close. Helmed by PD Kang Min-gu (Itaewon Class) and written by Kim Dan, May It Please the Court premieres September 21 on Disney+. https://www.dramabeans.com/2022/09/bickering-lawyers-toss-around-insults-disneys-may-please-court/
