Profile:

Lee Ho-dong (이호동) born on March 28, 1991 but better known by his stage name Lee Ho-won or Hoya, is a South Korean singer, actor, rapper, dancer, and songwriter. He served as a rapper and vocalist in boy band INFINITE from 2010 and its sub-group INFINITE-H from 2013 up until his departure from Woollim Entertainment in 2017. Hoya is currently signed to Glorious Entertainment and scheduled to release his solo debut album along with promoting his drama 'Two Cops' and musical 'Hourglass' this year.

He explained, “I started this life simply because I like singing and dancing, but because I lived as a celebrity, I spent a lot of time doing business rather than singing and dancing. There was a lot of business I had to do in order to sing one song. So it felt backwards.”

 

Hoya said, “By mere chance, I was able to meet the president and talk with him. He said he wanted to sign a contract with me because he thinks I can do various things, since I can sing, dance, and act. So I told him, ‘I don’t have to act, but I must release an album,’ and he willingly said he would let me do it. He said, ‘I don’t know anything about music, so do whatever you want,’ so I thought this was the best path for me to take in order to do the music I want. The agency has no intention of making money through my album anyways, so I think I can make money for them by acting while doing music I want. 

Good interview from Hoya.

No artist really wants their love & passion for music to become centered around business and public opinion.
Music should be a form of expression and if Woollim wasn't willing to support that expression (whether as a group or solo) than I completely understand his feeling of wanting to move on. Glorious Ent CEO sounds like he's already put a lot of faith into Hoya which is exactly what he needs to be sucessful.
