hello!!!

i'm new in this thread.. i really think high of ji jin-hee.. he's a very great actor..

i don't know if he's also great as a "person" (i mean in real person)..

what other tv series did he appear wherein the storyline is "romance-comedy"??

what movie do you recommend to see, so far i'v seen only one movie (bewitching attraction).. i hope to watch action-suspense"

Yep.. Ji Jin Hee is definitely an excellent actor. :D But the biggest reason I like him is because he is also a very very very great "person". :lol:

Have you seen any dramas with JJH? If you want to see a "romance-comedy" drama, I would recommend "Miss Kim's Million Dollar Quest" (the leads are Ji Jin Hee and Kim Hyun Joo). The storyline and the actors' acting gets better and better so make sure you keep watching till the end. :) For an action suspense movie, I would recommend the movie "H" (with Ji Jin Hee and Yeom Jung Ah).. and make sure you watch JJH's new action-suspense movie "Su" when it is released early next year..

Yes i recommend 'H' for a suspense thriller and 'Miss Kim' for a comedy too. Tho' Mr Ji is famous for 'Dae Jang Geum' i actually like his looks in 'Juliet's Man' and 'Love Letter'..And yeah i am looking forward to his new movies 'Su' and 'Old Garden' too!

i'v seen miss kim'sand it's very hilarious!! sometimes i remember a funny scene, i just control my laugh (people might think i'v gone crazy).. very great chemistry with Kim Hyun-joo (she's very pretty!!) hahaha :D

i tried to search some other tv series.. what about "the 100th bride"?? is it also a rom-comedy??.. i haven't seen dae jang-geum (full) only the last episode.. love letter i think it's sad like spring day??

i'll try and look for "H" :D (i hope i can find one) juliet man is also a movie??

well.. he seem to have a nice pesonality.. do any1 already met him in person??

"The 100th bride" is a Taiwanese tv series.. I wouldn't say it's a romantic comedy, there are funny parts in the series but that's not the focus of the drama.. the genre is probably just romance.

Love Letter is a sad drama, JJH plays the antagonist role here.. and Juliet's man is a drama (tv series), not a movie.. it's his first "proper" drama series that he acted in. :) Have you seen spring day?

Although I haven't met him in person, I know he has a nice personality from what other fans have written after their encounter with him. :lol:

i haven't seen the whole episodes of "spring daY".. i just saw the part where ji jin-hee was acting like a little kid (probably he had sort of an accident).. i just read its ending, it's sad for ji jin-hee's character because he was not chosen by the girl.. just like in love letter, ryt??

i have read some of the messages in this thread.. i think ji jin-hee's character in love letter is a mean person (i haven't seen him play a bad person).. i don't think he's bad in "spring days" and "dae jang-geum"

one of the reason why i think he's a great actor because he had acted many kinds of character in a series or movie.. from a person who's very proper and serious (dae jang-geum), a bad person (loveletter), happy-go-lucky (miss kim), martyr/unrequited love (spring days), poor guy (four sisters-->just corect me if i'm wrong)

what about in juliet's man (is he the lead actor)?? and in passing rain (what kind of character he portrays??)

spring day is the drama that JJH acted the best in.. both the media and viewers praised him so much for his acting. :) the storyline is the worst out of JJH's works however, as the female lead changes her mind about who she loves every episode after about half way through the drama.

You're right, JJH is not chosen by the girl in love letter.. The character he plays is the "bad guy" but he really only does one thing bad during the entire drama, and he has his reasons for being "mean".. I really feel great sympathy for his character here, it's my favourite character out of all of JJH's works despite being the "mean" character (a role that every drama needs to increase tension). He's definitely not bad in spring days or dae jang geum. :)

In Juliet's man he is not the main lead actor (he's the third most important character though) as he was only a new actor with little experience back then. Passing Rain is only a two episode drama, where he plays a tough detective who does not really show his feelings on the outside but in fact has a kind and warm heart.

Of coz talk about his talents did he sing in 'Perhaps Love' Jen?.. coz i have not seen that one..

And likewise i do not like the storyline in 'Spring Day' but both the lead actors were so worth watching. I like his character in 'Love Letter'.

Yep he sang (in Chinese) and even danced in perhaps love.. :) He's a good singer! :lol:

Like I said in my previous post, I also love his character in Love Letter. :) I'll never forget Woo Jin.. Actually, Love Letter is my favourite JJH drama in many ways. His looks, the character, his acting, and I also really like the "real" JJH at that time.. although a small problem is that the storyline is a little slow.

'The Old Garden' revives doomed love of 1980s

SEOUL, Dec. 19 (Yonhap) -- "The Old Garden" tells a doomed love story set against a gloomy backdrop of South Korea in the 1980s. The idea of mixing love and politics may sound banal, but director Im Sang-soo does it with genuine intentions to recall the era that evolved with the sacrifice of many young people and the result is a convincing melodrama.

Adapted from the novel of the same title by acclaimed writer Hwang Suk-young, The Old Garden brings the viewers to the era when young activists sometimes set fire to themselves or jumped off buildings to protest against the military dictatorship. Hyeon-su (Ji Jin-hee) and Yun-hi (Yeom Jung-ah) fall in love in the era when pursuing romance almost felt like a sin.

The plot development is faithful to the original story, but the characters are more easygoing and light-hearted than the ones conveyed in the book.

"It's the story about the activists in the eighties, but I can say it's not boring, it doesn't smell old," said the director who has gained international attention with unconventional films "A Good Lawyer's Wife" and "The President's Last Bang."

"Those people used to be depicted as being always full of convictions and speaking in literary style, and that would be the reason why they are boring. People who are high-spirited can also be simple and goofy sometimes, so we made this movie with that in mind, in a realistic way," he said after a press preview in Seoul on Monday.

The story unfolds with the release of Hyeon-su, then in his late 40s, who served 17 years in jail for opposing the military government of Chun Doo-hwan. The first news he gets to hear is the death of his long-lost love.

The story evolves through a narrative he finds from Yun-hi's diary in a place where they once lived together. After the civilian uprising in Gwangju was crushed by the military junta in May 1980, high school teacher-turned activist Hyeon-su becomes a member of the underground, spreading socialism and organizing protests aimed at topping the military regime. While he seeks a temporary shelter in the face of an intense crackdown, Yun-hi, an elementary school art teacher who had an activist father, volunteers to be his caretaker and brings him to a remote rural home near her school. They fall in love.

In the utopian shelter called Galmoi they share the prime of their lives, going on picnics in lazy afternoons and taking a shower naked in the rain, but the bliss ends in six months. As the authorities tighten their grip on activists and his friends get caught and tortured and some set fire to themselves in protest, Hyeon-su increasingly feels guilty about his happiness and decides to leave for Seoul where he will lead the movement.

But not long after his departure he gets arrested, and after a farcical trial he is sentenced to life imprisonment for opposing the government.

While Hyeon-su is at the center of the development of the plot, his imprisonment takes a back seat to Yun-hi's life outside jail. The woman who loved the activist keeps her life trapped by the social brutality, raising their daughter and supporting younger activists.

The story sounds like an ode to the activists at first, but through Yun-hi's dialogue with other activists, it also gives a critical look into the generation of the 1980s. An underground activist receives peer pressure to turn himself in to the authorities simply to make newspaper headlines and draw public attention to their struggle, and Yun-hi discourages him from accepting the pressure. The film shows the 1980s was also an era when the mass psychology of revolutionists, even if it was for social justice, silenced critics and created another kind of suppression within the community.

The acting is fine, but Ji Jin-hee's relaxed, nonchalant look after a 17-year imprisonment could be awkward to audience members who hope to see how the weight of time weakens an individual. However, the director said such acting was intended to make the characters look more approachable.

Set against the country's political past, the story may be emotionally distant to some audiences. But those who went through the era or witnessed others who did may find themselves quietly sobbing throughout the film.

"The Old Garden" made with 3.3 billion won (US$3.5 million) and rated 12 will be released nationwide on Jan. 4.

Rubie sis..yes..the movie 'Old Garden' is such a weepie i have to wear my dark Gucci shades for sure... :blush: ..all the awesome actors we love make us cry..like this MV 'Cry' by Son HoYoung my favourite singer at the moment from the movie itself..been playing it countless of times..and always cry...just looking at the last scene...
