Historical Drama PD Comments on Whether Song Triplets Will Be Paid for Cameo

Fans of “The Return of Superman” were recently thrilled to get to see Song Il Gook take his beloved triplets to the set of his new historical drama, “Jang Young Sil,” where they were dressed up as Joseon era beggars and got the chance to act in a scene.

It wasn’t known at the time if Daehan, Minguk, and Manse‘s scene would be making it into their father’s drama, but the show’s PD Kim Young Jo has now revealed his plans for the footage they shot that day.

In an interview with TV Report on December 15, Kim Young Jo says, “We’re planning to use the footage of the triplets. Although their appearance was arranged in the spur of the moment, they did a good job.”

However, Kim Young Jo says he won’t be revealing ahead of time which episode will include the triplets’ cameo. He states that his reason for keeping it a secret is that he worries viewers won’t be able to empathize with what’s happening on screen if they are focused on watching only for the triplets’ scene.

Song Il Gook previously joked on “The Return of Superman” that he wasn’t sure if the triplets would be paid for their appearance on the show. When asked about this, Kim Young Jo vaguely replies with a joke, “I imagine it would be included in Song Il Gook’s paycheck.”

Kim Young Jo also comments on his impression of Song Il Gook, who is taking the lead role in the drama as the inventor Jang Young Sil himself. “In fitting with his nickname, ‘God of Historical Dramas,’ he has a face that inspires confidence,” he says. “He’s very detailed and always completely prepared.”

The first episode of “Jang Young Sil” will be airing on KBS on January 2 at 9:40 p.m. KST.

Song Il Gook’s New Historical Drama Releases Intense Trailer

KBS‘s upcoming historical drama starring Song Il Kook has released a thrilling new trailer!

The much-anticipated drama “Jang Young Sil” tells the story of a brilliant scientist who lived during the Joseon period. Although born into the lower class, Jang Young Sil’s talent was recognized by King Sejong, and he was chosen to be an inventor at the royal court, where he created some of the period’s most impressive innovations.

Song Il Kook stars as the inventor Jang Young Sil himself, alongside a cast that includes Park Sun Young, Kim Sang Kyung, Kim Young Chul, and more.

The new trailer gives us a glimpse at the drama, and also shows Song Il Kook playing Jang Young Sil in full genius mode as he sketches out a design for one of his famous inventions.

“Jang Young Sil” will be airing its first episode on January 2 on KBS. Are you excited to watch?

I am going to watch this.. is king Taejong will also be casted? why only KIng Taejo??

I read that a sub-county magistrate was recommended him to King Taejong when the government were looking for a talented man..

But still I'm watching this.. I saw the trailer and it was amazing...

The thriller is very promising...SIK, no wonder his nickame is God of Historical Drama... :wub::wub:

TSR fans already knew that SIK is very talented when its comes to drawing...i believe the drawing scene is from his own... :blush:

When will the schedule for presscon ??? Can we see Song triplets there too ??? Since they're officially the cameos...LOL

Song Il Gook Transforms into Joseon Scholar in New Poster for Upcoming Historical Drama

Song Il Gook’s upcoming historical drama, “Jang Young Sil,” has released a poster of the actor in the titular role. The KBS 1TV drama is about the historical figure Jang Young Sil, who was a prominent scientist and inventor during the Joseon dynasty.

On December 24, the production staff released the poster, which features Song Il Gook looking wise but charismatic in simple white clothes, standing in front of his inventions. The character has appeared in historical dramas in the past, but never as a main character. This will be the first time that his story is told through a drama.

Song Il Gook is reported to have felt great responsibility to take on the role of a historical figure that the nation respects and admires. In addition, despite Jang Young Sil’s advances in the field of science, there is not much in historical records about him. In preparation for the role, Song Il Gook is said to have studied up on the character and consulted the script often.

“‘Jang Young Sil’ is a production that we’ve worked on for a long time in order to live up to the reputation of KBS’s historical dramas,” the production staff said. “Song Il Gook and the other actors are working hard in anticipation of the day the viewers see the first episode. Please anticipate it.”

The first episode will air January 2, 2016.

Our JYS aka SIK won Excellence Male for Variety Show at KBS Entertainment Awards 2015 last night and he's asked viewers to supported his new drama... :blush::heart:

The Superman team has installed 20 cameras in a way that doesnt' cause the children stress, takes over a week just to match the time codes for all the tapes. The staff has to work very hard.

Thanks to viewers for loving the triplets up till now. Hopes people will watch his next drama, Jang Yong Shil
