Yamaguchi Ichiro, the frontman of the electronic rock band, Sakanaction who will provide the theme song of "Bakuman" live action movie, was interviewed last July 16.

Hitoshi One, the director of "Bakuman" live action movie and some stills of the film were featured in the latest issue of Pen Magazine. He was interviewed in the Village Vanguard variety shop in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo, where one of the scenes from the movie was shot.

SAKANACTION to write a theme song and insert songs for the movie "BAKUMAN" !

"バクマン。 / BAKUMAN" starring Ken Sato and Ryunosuke Kamiki is going to be in cinemas from Octobr 3rd. It has been announced that SAKANACTION will write its theme song and insert songs. This will be their first attempt to write songs for a movie.

The theme song is called "新宝島 / Shin Takarajima". It was inspired by the movie "バクマン。 / BAKUMAN", which is about two high school boys / manga artists trying to be the top manga artists of a manga anthology called JUMP, and the theme of this song is "drawing a line". The title was named after Osamu Tezuka's manga published in 1947. Ichiro Yamaguchi got really impressed by this manga and named this title to open a new horizon of the band with this new song.

The song is constructed on many elaborate ideas, for example a sound of the main character drawing manga becomes a melody. The movie turned out to be thoroughly full of their music.

Sakanaction to drop concept album + release theme song for ‘Bakuman’

Sakanaction are proving to be busy this year with the release of a new concept album, as well as recording a theme song for ‘Bakuman‘!

Sakanaction‘s 6th album will be titled “Natsukashii Tsuki wa Atarashii Tsuki ~Coupling & Remix works~” and will be released on August 5th.

In addition to the concept album, they will also be releasing the theme song for the live action film adaption of the popular manga named ‘Bakuman‘. Fans should be excited, considering it took quite a while and a lot of effort to record the track. Yamaguchi reveals that it took 6 months to create the song and says: “I was able to through a musician’s trouble of ‘writing lyrics’ and a manga artist’s trouble of ‘drawing’.

There will be a nationwide screening of "Bakuman" live action movie for Au smart members who will be chosen through a raffle, at Toho Cinemas on Sept.24 at 6:30 pm, (except for some theaters). This Saturday, the flyers and application forms for Au smart members will be placed at Toho cinemas. A total of 4,500 pairs or 9,000 people will be chosen in the raffle to watch the movie.
