Good morning (to my side of the world) MINSHIN family!!!

i just slept and woke up and of course, as expected... you guys are always on fire...
! love to read all your posts!!! it a perfect companion on a breakfast while sipping coffee..!

i love seeing and watching BTS pix and vids... it shows the REAL them... the level of chemistry sometimes we see in a drama could be bought by them being a good actors and actresses... but on BTS, you see THEM...the real ones... how they laugh, they play, they giggle to one another, the way they look at each other...the UNSCRIPTED ones. they are just adorable...! thanks @ravairie for the Calif throwback pix!  I've seen these all before but i still love looking at them every now and then..!

Hello everyone. It's been a long time since I've posted something here. I am very happy and more than delighted that this ship is still sailing and that the community is thriving till it was extended to thread no.2! What a feat! *Standing Ovation* I was a Minshinner since thread 1 but I've been freaking busy and would on and off lurk around here for any updates and observations posted by fellow Minshinners' Academics. (Note: If Minshinner is a subject for thesis some of you have already earned a doctorate! >-) 

But due to the recent "uproar" on the authenticity of the relationship between Lee Min Ho (LMH) and Park Shin Hye (PSH), and with some free time in hand, I decided to delurk and share my two cents worth (maybe even less) of thoughts and opinion.    

I'll start with my background in relation to PSH and LMH. 

I watched You're Beautiful (YAB) before Boys Over Flowers (BOF). Even though Boys Over Flowers was released first.

I can declare outrightly that PSH was my very first favourite actress out of the K-Drama industry. I was not into K-Drama at all prior. I asked my K-Addict friend for recommendations on which K-Drama I should start off with. I told her I wanted something light-hearted and not so draining to watch because I want to keep an open mind about it. And she recommended YAB. 

I was wondering how could the lead (Jang Geun Suk) be so pretty and handsome at the same time?! It was mind-boggling. And then I looked at Shin Hye. I was like, Huh?! Why her? I personally thought at that time she was not pretty in all honesty. Lets be upfront, I am a lady... of course I will notice the guys first. But little did I know, I would be running a marathon with that drama. I was hooked. Watched the whole 16 episodes in 24 hours. Funnily enough, as the episode progress, though I was mind boggled by his sheer beauty, it was PSH that kept me hooked. It didn't take long. It was by episode 2 and it was sealed that PSH is the reason I stayed with the drama. I don't know if it is just me or what; when the actress isn't to my expectation, I stopped watching the drama altogether even if the lead actor is gorgeous. This is a bad habit of mine. 

The character she played was so pleasant that I started to wonder who is the real her by episode 2. Is she as nice as the character she portrayed? Who is she? Can she really sing well? Do they play the musical instruments for real? I began to look her up on the Internet. And to my pleasant surprise she is a nice, kind-hearted actress who works hard to be where she is. That's when I realized she is BEAUTIFUL. No longer did I care about whether she is pretty or not. Because a girl like her deserves even the best looking of guys. Though it is a must for the guys to be nice guys! 

Was I a GeunShin shipper? Was I a YongShin shipper? I wouldn't say I am because though I enjoyed their interactions I am just happy if PSH is happy. If she said she is dating them, I wouldn't have a problem because she deserves to love and be loved by whomever she wants to. But time and again they stated that they are the best of friends. So I'll accept her answer as that.  

While I was marathon-ing, my friend was asking me how’s my progress with K-Drama so far. I told her its all good and I asked her do you have any other drama to recommend? Something like the girl is the underdog character similar to YAB. She recommended me BOF. And so I watched it. 

I marathon the full 25 episodes after watching YAB. It was definitely one tiring feat but a satisfied one. Somehow though I always root for the underdog characters, I got annoyed midway when Geum Jan Di played the push and pull act non-stop. And I thought that 25 episodes were a tad too long for this push and pull act. I began to concentrate more on her Best Friend’s character with Kim Bum’s character. While I was watching BOF, I loved Kim Hyun Joong’s character but loved Kim Bum’s face. Does that even make sense? LMH was definitely out of contest then. LOL! But my friend loved LMH’s character. She gushes at how good-looking he is. Well I told my friend that I know he is good-looking and all but I don’t quite like the character he played. That was how I felt until I saw Etude’s commercials. Between PSH and LMH. I was like OMG! Is this really that guy in BOF? Dayyum! He looked good. That hair in BOF even though iconic should never be on LMH’s head again. His gorgeous-ness was sealed in my brain with him acting in Personal Taste.

I told my friend about how much I like PSH. She told me that PSH is such a lucky lady because she had the chance to work with many good-looking guys. I thought it was lucky for the guys to be with her instead. LOL! My friend is a self-proclaimed “I only know good-looking actors names”. So she is definitely in the guys’ camp.  But we both agree that PSH looks good in anything she wears; we say that she has a body that can fill out any clothes and looks good and healthy and definitely not the typical stick-thin (another reason why I like her). No offence to those actresses who are stick-thin. Because I love Gong Hyo Jin and she is really slim. For me if your original bodyline is stick-thin, it shall be stick-thin; if it is curvier, then curvier it is. Embrace yourself along with the imperfections that makes you unique. Just don’t look gaunt. Some of the actresses looked gaunt and unhealthy and relies on plasticizing themselves; and this is not a good message to put across to young girls out there. We also both agree that PSH has good chemistry with anyone she works with. Then I asked my friend the golden question; Why hasn’t PSH and LMH being paired up in a drama? Why only commercials? I do not know why I asked her this question but I remembered that conversation ended with me saying, “If those two are paired up in a drama, I am DEFINITELY watching.” Who would have known that it would come through when the cast of Heirs was revealed. You have no idea how excited I was. Finally a full drama! Not just 30secs CF, 10mins CF BTS, and 5mins interviews.

Finally The Heirs premiered. I did not wait… I shall repeat I DID NOT WAIT for the episode to be subbed to watch it. I just wanted to see their interaction and relied on my limited hangul to figure out the storyline. The pace of the drama was a little off for me. But it definitely picked up once the 2 leads encountered each other. I giggled at their interactions and squealed at his invitation for her to sleep at his house. Before the invite I remembered telling myself, “Ya, Kim Tan! Why are you so mean to her?” 

The Heirs received some critical reviews saying how bad it was for the first few episodes and the lack of chemistry and such. It dawned on me at one point that not everyone would like to see the 2 of them being paired up? They started comparing The Heirs with YAB and BOF and even CH and HS. I was saddened. I did not understand why. To me, using the background information provided by Kim Eun Sook on the characters as a basis; I thought that the portrayal was perfect. So I kept my faith in them and watched through. I enjoyed the moments he stared at her and the attention he was showering her in the drama. Because for the first time, it was the male lead character that thought she was a beauty and was captivated by her! In YAB, the male lead started liking her because he empathized with her, in HS the male lead did not even like her at all in the beginning.  

 

All those staring moments, as a viewer, I felt something. Somehow it was different. The intensity was different. Then I started to view all the BTS that SBS released and also the fancams: The chat at the airport, the chat at the diner, and the chat by the beach, and also the running down the streets of LA. I felt different. I couldn’t explain and I couldn’t pin point to it exactly but the feeling of different was there. Then news of the first kiss scene at the rooftop came out which took 5 hours of filming and many takes. Others were already saying that a kiss scene with PSH will not be a kiss scene. Waited and waited during the episode. And then it happened. I was like, “What? Seriously? That’s a kiss? Oh, come on!” Even though I felt different that kiss at the rooftop was a party pooper! I thought to myself that even the staring moments is more intense than that rooftop kiss! 

Then news of another kiss scenes came out. By this time, I already felt something was going on especially since she had accepted him, the air kiss scene, the camping scene and the party scene were telling tales. I was half anticipating and half not anticipating – just in case I get disappointed again! And plus the speculation of others’ thoughts about a kiss scene with PSH made me not want to anticipate it. Waited and waited. And then BAM! It happened! My first thought was, “WOAH!! ~~~~~ What was that??? What was that I just saw???” This was live streaming. So I waited for the first raw streaming by midnight to review. I repeated the scene again and again. I couldn’t believe what I just saw! My first thought was, “Is this really PSH? Really? Is this really PSH?” On the other hand for LMH, I was surprised. Not so much on the kiss but how he was handling her during the kiss. Because we know he kisses well on-screen so the kiss was not the issue for LMH. My thoughts while reviewing, “Did he just hold her by the neck to kiss her? Did he just bring her closer to him to kiss her? And did he just swooped down for a last kiss before he actually stopped kissing her?” I know LMH takes good kissing scenes but not THIS GOOD. LOL!  And the best part was, I did not feel a single tinge of jealousy while watching that! I was so happy and so excited that I start searching for others’ comments on the scene and I stumbled upon MinShin thread too! I was excited to read others’ thoughts because I just needed to know that I am not the only one who felt that way about the scene! There were mixed reviews but generally the MinShin community loved it and felt the same way as I did! And I was on a roll and declared myself to be a MinShin shipper. Like I said the only ship I have ever sailed after watching countless of dramas. My virgin voyage. Why this ship? Because I have not felt the same way that I am feeling for PSH and LMH for any other pairings. If in the future I feel the same way about another pairing I would ship them as well. 

The following are the reasons why I am still happy sailing. Besides all the evidences that the MinShin community have been diligently updating.

The drama awards ceremony. I compared the other award ceremonies he attended before, LMH was definitely very proper (no hand-holding, no hugs, no fond staring and not even a handshake even though the leads sat beside each other and also won best couple) and not as playful as he was in 2013. Besides all the skinship, the speeches, the fond look for each other that were obvious telling signs, I began to notice the little things that they do. Just before he stretched his hands to hold PSH hands, it looked like he was adjusting his suit but I beg to differ. He was nervous and excited at the same time for the Best Couple Award. Naturally, your hand will perspire. So what LMH did was to wipe his hands before reaching out to PSH. That is good mannerism and consideration for someone. Especially for someone you fancy. You want to give them the best impression.

BTS scene "Do I Like You?": Look at LMH eyes even though PSH was laughing his stare did not change for a some time even though it was short. He looked affected. Even though he says that the line made his fingers "curled" he sure did not laugh when he said that and could only afford a smile at the end when PSH already burst out laughing. 

BTS kiss scene: When they need to retake the scene prior to kissing, he kept holding on to her hand in and out of the storage room. Besides that, for a kiss scene that intense and passionate, I believe any human with feelings and attraction for the opposite sex would feel hot and bothered. If it was me, I would definitely feel something even if I don't have any feelings for the person. Personally, the kiss scenes meant so much more because how LMH closed his eyes just before the kiss. And PSH closed her eyes before being kissed. The last episode kiss scene too. Sweet kiss. Smiling and bashful PSH already closed her eyes while LMH had his eyes still slightly opened and smiling while looking at her and finally closed when he is about to kiss her (a very natural way of kissing when you're in love). 

NG scene where he hid his face behind PSH (maybe he just wanted to smell her cos the infinity challenge cast said she smelled great) and all the NG scenes between them is all telling. 

Definitely the difference in their behaviours and personality were also very telling. 

Before the rave on my boyfriend does my make-up, LMH and PSH did it back in 2009 when he applied mascara on PSH for Etude. Just look at his reaction. 

Why a long post? Because I just wanna show that MinShin Shippers most definitely representing myself, comes from an unbiased point of judgement. And fans like myself has been with them prior to The Heirs. Even as a fan I still can identify their weaknesses and strengths. And as I have stated earlier I have never felt this way about a pairing like I do feel for them. I also hope to soothe the mixed feelings of some MinShinners with this post.

It's their actions and thoughts for each other that make us Believe that they are in LOVE! You can just feel the love between these two, because they are so transparent. Again no one will interact the way they did at SBS drama Awards if they are dating somebody else, even the people around them that night can feel that there's something going on between these two, they were so happy that night and the way they hold hands going to the stage was so natural like lovers. Well even the crews/staffs that are always with them during filming thought that they are dating, so that's just says it all. LOL I'm just very happy for them that they found LOVE, both are very happy and contended now, they deserve it. MinShin JikJin! :x :-* ><

When Lee Min Ho was recently interviewed about his role in "The Heirs," the interviewers asked him about the passionate kissing scene he had with Park Shin Hye in "The Heirs."

Park Shin Hye has already spoken about that scene, saying that she was startled when the director urged Lee Min Ho to actually kiss her.

"I was really surprised," she said. "During that kiss scene, I grabbed Lee Min Ho's shirt." But as temporarily uncomfortable as it may have been, her surprise made the scene more interesting and effective. And it seemed to fit in with their relationship in which he was more physically aggressive.

But how did Lee Min Ho feel about the kissing scene? Was he in on the fact that they were actually supposed to kiss?

No. He did not know beforehand. He was as surprised as she was but he recognized the importance of following the director's guidance. Kissing her then felt right.

"Since the kiss was the culmination of all the events and emotions leading up to it, there was no other alternative than to do it for real," he said in an interview with Korea's Daily Sports. "I did regret that no one told Park Shin Hye beforehand. Usually actresses are given an idea of what will happen. So I think Park Shin Hye was caught off-guard by how it played out." 

me: Real? it came from your mouth LMH shii , there's more than acting in this kiss scene. Did you pour out the feelings that you're hiding inside your heart during this kiss , that's why it's so passionate and deep? those events and emotions i bet were also real, not only in the drama.

But being a veteran actress, Park Shi Hye understood that the scene required a passionate kiss. Lee Min Ho complimented her on her professionalism and the effort she put into all of her scenes.

"She's younger than I am but she has more experience," he said. "Honestly, I am not so good at talking to actresses about acting or offering them support. I just follow my feelings and I was grateful that she went along with what I did."

Park Shin Hye was actually the youngest actress the 26-year-old actor has worked with. Gu Hye Sun, his "Boys Over Flowers" co-star is three years older. Son Ye Jin, his "Personal Taste" co-star is 31. Kim Hee Sun, his "Faith: The Great Doctor" co-star is 36, while Park Min Young, his "City Hunter" co-star is only a year older than he is.

He loved acting with 23-year-old Park Shin Hye, who he has modeled with in the past.

"I think she's a terrific colleague and consider her a younger sister," said Lee Min Ho.

A younger sister? Fans were maybe hoping that Kim Tan and Cha Eun Sang would continue their romance into real life, but it's nice that they're good friends and respect each others' acting skills.
