′A Werewolf Boy′ Shows Strong Numbers in Reservation

A Werewolf Boy is on its way to success, as its star marketing and favorable critic reviews have started to take effect.





The film is set to premiere on October 31. Because it was to debut among such giant films as Ryu Seung Bum′s Suspect X and 007 Skyfall, not much was expected from the film, especially after many thought it would be an animation due to its title.

After the press preview held on October 15, however, the tables turned. The film started to gather attention for its stars, Song Joong Ki and Park Bo Young, and its high quality. The VIP screening also drew favorable reviews from its audience, leading to the film′s rise as a dark horse through word of mouth.


It then started to be called the Edward Scissorhands of Korea, and critics praised it for being both a touching and entertaining film in one. On Naver Movies it even scored 9.29 out of 10.


The bubbling excitement led to high numbers in reservations. According to the Compiled Ticket Computer Network on October 30, A Werewolf Boy takes up 24 percent of reserved tickets, landing the film at no. 2 in the overall reservation rank. It′s 17.6 percent short of the 41.6 percent gathered by 007 Skyfall, but still the numbers are meaningful as it has surpassed those for Masquerade, Suspect X and Iron Dae Oh.


Song Joong Ki′s star power, with additional interest stemming from his appearances in KBS2′s Nice Guy, are helping the film along.

Park Lucia, chief of CJ Movies′ PR section, said, "I believe the audience trusts Song Joong Ki, Park Bo Young and the other lead and supporting actors. Because the film mixes romance and fantasy, it′s especially popular among females."


A Werewolf Boy is about how a girl who moves to a tranquil village with her family to treat her illness meets a werewolf boy hiding in the darkness
