On July 21, Billboard revealed the interview held with 2NE1 online. During the interview, 2NE1 said, "We wanted to come back with a fun song that matches the summer. We hope to show our lovely sides through this song."

2013 seems to be the year where artists try their hand at the solo career. Makes you wonder why this is becoming a recent trend. Is Solo the pathway to success for the group or is it solely for the artist being thrust into the solo spotlight that they won't have to share?

One of the most successful solo transitions in my opinion is Bom from 2NE1 and HyunA from4minute. There are also the JYJ boys who have released records, Jaejoong and his unique, heavy guitar Japanese-inspired releases as well as Junsu's soft, sensual take. These artists have come from groups that have already made a name for themselves so why do they have to go solo?

When a character in a kdrama looks familiar, it's not always because you have seen that actor or actress in another drama.

Even if the actors don't sing, you may have seen them playing a part in someone else's music video. And with so much crossover existing between the kpop and kdrama worlds, an MV appearance is not just a steppingstone to getting drama roles. It's not unusual for already popular actors to appear in music videos. Their presence adds a little more excitement, helping to increase the market for the record. And often the actors are represented by the same talent agency that represents the musical artists.

2NE1's hit "Falling in Love," for example, uses two actors that currently appear in dramas, model-turned-actor Lee So Hyuk of "Shark" and Kim Soo Hyun of "Shark." But it's not the first time an up-and-coming actor appeared in one of their music videos. In 2NE1's "Go Away" video actor Song Jae Rim plays the race car driver boyfriend that abuses CL. Song Jae Rim has appeared in "Flower Boy Ramen Shop" as Jung Il Woo's buddy, as a warrior in "The Moon Embracing The Sun," has a role in "Nail Shop Paris" and will soon play a killer in "Two Weeks."

MTV HAS THE VMAS, FOX HAS TEEN CHOICE AWARDS AND NICKELODEON HAS KIDS CHOICE AWARDS. AND K-POP HAS 20'S CHOICE! FEATURING THE COOLEST HITS OF THE SUMMER.

The annual Mnet 20's Choice Awards was held last July 18 at KINTEX in Ilsan, and KpopStarz got to witness all the fun!

The theme this year for Korea's only summer awards ceremony was "Legend of 20's" where they aimed to bring the world, as well as different generations of youths, together through music.

CL showed a powerful stage with her song "The Baddest Female" then surprised everyone when the rest of 2NE1 came onstage to perform their current single "Falling in Love".

Even before releasing a teaser for new songs, K-Pop groups are making comebacks.

Singers who would always release a teaser for a new song and were once secretive about their new songs are now releasing the full songs, albums, and even performing live onstage. It is a 180 degree turn from their previous habit of getting upset at even the smallest leak of a portion of their songs.

Similarily, 2NE1 and A Pink have used similar strategies. A Pink performed their comeback stage at Mnet's 'M-Countdown' on July 4, a day before their song release. 2NE1's strategy was even more unexpected. They usually occupy 'all-kill' on the music charts, and despite the expected all-kill, they still released their song at 'Inkigayo' on July 7, a day before their song release. Although the 'Inkigayo' show airing was postponed because of the Asiana Airplane accident, this big shot group's decision to perform the song before its actual release was unusual.
