Aunt-to-be Charlotte Casiraghi is full of 'joie de vivre' in Paris
08 NOVEMBER 2012

Charlotte Casiraghi was beaming when she attended the Gucci Masters press conference in Paris on Wednesday. Her infectious smile and knowing look probably had a lot to do with the fact that she is about to become an auntie for the first time. Earlier this week, Tatiana Santo Domingo showed off her baby bump at a fashion event in Madrid, and in doing so, the fiancée of Charlotte's elder brother Andrea confirmed rumours that the Grimaldi family are preparing to welcome a new arrival.

charlotte-casiraghi--a.jpg

The happy development will have particular resonance for Charlotte – as a long-time friend of Tatiana Santo Domingo's, she was the one who introduced her brother to the woman who would become his wife and the mother of his child. Her niece or nephew will be third in line to the throne given that her uncle, Prince Albert, 53, does not yet have any children with wife Charlene. However, succession will be the last thing on the Monegasque royal's mind, as she will be too busy enjoying this special period before becoming a first-time aunt.

Charlotte's own personal life is also looking particularly rosy of late. Her relationship with charismatic French actor Gad Elmaleh is going from strength to strength and things have been progressing nicely since the 41-year-old wooed Princess Caroline's daughter following her split from British gallery owner, Alex Dellal. In the summer, Charlotte, 26, even hopped on a plane to Canada to support her man on promotional rounds for his latest film, The Capital. For his part, Gad – who is of Moroccan descent – joined his girlfriend on a cruise with her mum and family, a move which showed Princess Caroline has accepted her daughter's romance.

Gad's rugged looks and thespian credentials make him an interesting addition to the Grimaldis' close knit set. He is well known in his native France for starring in films such as Hors de Prix, a comedy with Audrey Tautou, a sort of Pretty Woman for the Noughties. He has also appeared in international movies such as Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris.

When Charlotte isn't nurturing their fledgling romance, she returns to her other love – horse-riding. Her appearance at the Gucci Masters press conference was just the latest in a long line of engagements with the riding competition. In Gucci Masters, 12 teams – consisting of a professional and an amateur – battle it out to complete the course in the fastest time. The keen horsewoman regularly competes and wears riding gear designed exclusively for her by the Italian fashion house.

In early spring, Gucci confirmed to French Elle that Charlotte would be extending their collaboration, replacing True Blood actress Evan Rachel Wood as the new face of their label. The stylish Monegasque sweetheart certainly has the credentials for the job. As the daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco, and the grand-daughter of Grace Kelly, she has an innate sense of style. Gucci's creative director Frida Giannini in the past admitted that the 26-year-old was one of her personal fashion icons, saying: "She is the modern royal whose effortless elegance defies contemporary style".

Charlotte Casiraghi poses for new Gucci campaign wearing iconic Flora scarf made for grandmother Grace Kelly in the Sixties

By Daily Mail Reporter

Grace Kelly's granddaughter, Charlotte Casiraghi, is the star of Gucci's Forever Now campaign for the third season in row, but this time she is modelling a very sentimental piece of the fashion's house's history.

The 26-year-old royal holds a foulard featuring the same Flora pattern that was given to her grandmother, Princess Grace of Monaco, on a scarf in 1966 by Rodolfo Gucci, the son of founder Guccio Gucci.

Miss Casiraghi, daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco, said of both the signature Flora pattern and her grandmother: 'As an icon of Gucci's heritage it represents nature in all its beauty.'

Royal connection: Charlotte Casiraghi, 26, holds a foulard featuring the same Flora pattern that was given to her grandmother, Princess Grace of Monaco, on a scarf in 1966 by Rodolfo Gucci, the son of founder Guccio Gucci

Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, a fashion photography duo who have also photographed Victoria Beckham for Giorgio Armani, the new Gucci campaign features Miss Casiraghi wearing a simple back singlet top with the foulard tied around various parts of her body, as well as apparel printed in the same pattern.

Gucci's creative director, Frida Giannini, who began reusing the heritage pattern when she took the reins of the Florentine house in 2005, told WWD: 'Today, Flora has become a symbol of the Gucci woman’s effortless fusion of tradition and contemporary poise.'

She added that the print, created by Italian artist Vittorio Accornero, aslo 'holds special meaning' for her.

'I first discovered the scarf when my mother and grandmother would wear theirs during my childhood in the Seventies,' Ms Giannini explained.

The previous two campaigns featuring Miss Casiraghi pay tribute to her equestrian talents - the first, shot by photographer Peter Lindbergh in March last year, took place at a snowy stable.

The red riding jacket, high-necked black shirt and johdpurs she wore in the ad seemed reminiscent of the riding kit that Gucci exclusively created for her to compete in.

Though Royals will rarely front fashion campaigns - certainly the Duchess of Cambridge and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie would be unlikely to do so - Miss Casiraghi and Gucci's creative director share a special bond.

Ms Giannini explained: 'Over the last few years I have had the pleasure and privilege to get to know Charlotte through our shared passion for horses.

'She not only embodies the beauty and the grace of the equestrian, but is also a wonderful ambassador for the sport.'

In an interview for vogue.com, Ms Giannini also named the young royal as one of her 15 top fashion icons, saying she is, 'the modern royal whose effortless elegance defies contemporary style.'

Miss Casiraghi was equally full of praise for Ms Giannini, adding: 'I admire Frida’s talent as a designer and she has really managed to reinvent the codes of Gucci by giving them a modern twist and a timeless elegance.'

Charlotte Casiraghi and boyfriend Gad Elmaleh enjoy an evening of romance at the Monaco Rose Ball

24 MARCH 2013

All eyes were on happy couple Charlotte Casiraghi and Gad Elmaleh at Monaco's Rose Ball on Saturday night. The pair couldn't take their eyes of each other at what is one of the Grimaldi family's most anticipated nights of the year. Charlotte, 26, also debuted her new short hair teaming her wavy brunette locks with a stunning pastel pink drop hem dress.

In line with tradition Charlotte's mother Princess Caroline, president of the Princess Grace Foundation, chose the evening’s theme the 1990 French era of 'La Belle Epoque', which brought with it a host of feathers, fringes, hats and necklaces.

Princess Caroline, who became a grandmother for the first time last week when her son Andrea and his girlfriend Tatiana Santo Domingo welcomed a son, chose an elegant jewel encrusted bolero jacket over a white top and floorlength black skirt.

This year Monaco's glittering ball was also graced by Chanel maestro Karl Lagerfeld, British pop star Rita Ora and her friend and model of the moment Cara Delevingne, who wore a show stopping white feathered dress and her blonde hair in a flawless up'do.

Monaco's reigning monarch Prince Albert was also at the ball, accompanied by his statueque wife Princess Charlene. Former Olympic swimmer Charlene, 35, wore a v-necked whiet gown, complete with jeweled shoulders which she chose to hide under a beige jacket before revealing her full outfit once inside the venue.

Charlotte Casiraghi is 'Forever in Bloom' with Gucci
03 APRIL 2013

547500_10151572364621013_765741131_n.jpg

Charlotte Casiraghi is ready for Spring in Gucci's third installment of their Icons of Heritage 'Forever Now' series, fronted by the Monagesque sweetheart.

This is the third time that the model, 26, has posed to celebrate the Italian fashion house's icons. Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, some of the world's most respected fashion and portrait photographers, the latest of the Gucci campaign features beautiful portraits of Charlotte.

Dressed for spring in bright floral patterns, she holds an intense gaze with the camera, her tousled locks lending a romantic frame to her stunning features.

In one, the young royal holds a scarf which features Gucci's Flora pattern designed by Italian artist Vittorio Accornero; the same pattern that appears on a silk scarf that Rodolfo Gucci gave to Charlotte's grandmother Princess Grace of Monaco, in 1966. The Flora silk scarf, featuring 43 varieties of flowers from all the seasons, was created as a special gift for Princess Grace when her husband Prince Rainier bought a Bamboo bag.

And now Charlotte celebrates the timeless motif, which has since spurred interpretations across many collections and continues to evolve through the current creations, 50 years later.

She's not the only person who holds the Flora scarf close to her heart. Gucci's creative director Frida Giannini said: "The print holds special meaning to me - I first discovered the scarf when my mother and grandmother would wear theirs during my childhood in the Seventies."

The colour palette in the timeless design reaches an astonishing 37, and works to evoke a poetic mood that over time inspired mothers to pass down Flora to their daughters.

The Italian label's 'Forever Now' campaign, which launched in 2010 in the run up to its 90th anniversary, focuses on the brand's rich history. The second installment celebrates the iconic metal horsebit featured on the classic Gucci loafer and the first was dedicated to Gucci's signature green and red stripe.

Charlotte was an obvious choice for the campaign. Not only is she the granddaughter of Hollywood fashion icon Grace Kelly, both she and Frida are passionate equestrians.

Monaco's Princess Caroline visits new grandchild as baby's name is revealed
27 MARCH 2013

Monaco's Princess Caroline has flown to London to visit her son Andrea Casiraghi, who last week welcomed a child with his fiancée Tatiana Santo Domingo.

Princess+Caroline+Pringle+Scotland+Archi

Princess+Caroline+Bal+De+La+Rose+Du+Roch

According to HELLO!'s sister publication HOLA!, the newest member of the Grimaldi clan is called Sacha and was born in London's exclusive Portland hospital.

Caroline, 56, who attended Monaco's Rose Ball on Saturday night, wasted no time flying to London to meet her first grandchild. She was joined by her two children, Charlotte, 26, and Pierre Casiraghi, 25, who were just as eager to spend some time with their new nephew.

The party were in a jubilant mood as they arrived at the hospital and were seen carrying gifts for Tatiana and the new arrival.

Both mother and baby have now been discharged from hospital and are resting at an undisclosed location in London. The city was chosen because Tatiana uses it as a base for her ethical fashion label, Muzungu Sisters.

Tatiana, 29, and Andrea, 28, became first-time parents last Thursday.

Princess Caroline's press office confirmed the news via a statement. "Her Serene Highness Princess Caroline has the pleasure of announcing the birth of her grandson, born on 21 March 2013," the missive said before adding: "Both mother and baby are doing well".

At the moment, the newest member of the Grimaldi clan isn't a potential successor to the Monegasque throne given that Andrea and Tatiana have yet to marry. Any future heir will likely be the child born to Prince Albert and his wife Charlene.

The arrival of a Grimaldi baby in Monaco normally merits some fanfare: For Princess Caroline's baptism in 1957, four bishops and 15 priests presided. The ceremony took place amid the splendour of the principality's cathedral, which had been filled with 10,000 lilies and tulips for the occasion.

But new mum Tatiana's style is more low-key, and such a lavish display of pomp and circumstance is unlikely to surround her first child.

Instead, the family base is expected to be in Paris, far away from the media spotlight. It was there that the new parents first fell in love while studying.

Carlota Casiraghi's figure fuels speculation about possible pregnancy

PEOPLE | 01 de julio de 2013

tumblr_mp7x8mOsM61s6t5fio1_500.jpg

Paris, Jul 1 (EFE).- The figure of Carlota Casiraghi, who on the weekend gave the impression of having a prominent abdomen underneath the loose-fitting clothing she wore at the Monte Carlo horse jumping competition, has sparked widespread speculation about whether the daughter of Monaco's Princess Caroline is pregnant.

Casiraghi, who will turn 27 next month, showed up at the principality's traditional equestrian contest along with her mother and her uncle, Prince Albert II, though without her boyfriend, actor Gad Elmaleh.

The daughter of the late Stefano Casiraghi wore an elegant electric blue dress with high heels at the award ceremony on Sunday.

Still recovering from horseriding accident, Carlota Casiraghi did not participate in the competition, as she had done on other occasions, but she was the center of attention for the photographers present at the event.

Although no official source has confirmed the latest apparent pregnancy in the Garimaldi family, the pregnancy rumor has been the focus of attention in the French celebrity press, including the publications Voici and Premiere.
