Caring Caroline honoured for following in Princess Grace's footsteps

14 DECEMBER 2011

Her late mother Princess Grace of Monaco would have been so proud.

Fifty years after the iconic royal founded children’s charity AMADE, Princess Caroline has been honoured for her tireless endeavours in continuing the organisation's legacy.

Amade is active in South America, Africa and Asia, especially the Philippines, a country the 54-year-old has visited on several occasions to hear locals' stories at first hand.

This week, it fell to her good friend Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel chief creative, to present her with a People In Europe gong, which recognises leading figures in the world of arts, religion and business.

"The situation of children today looks very different," the sister of reigning sovereign Prince Albert told German newspaper Passauer Neue Presse.

"But the core message remains the same as the one my mother wanted to emphasise: children must be the centre of all our thoughts and interests."

And a new generation of Monegasque royals have taken this message to heart. A few weeks ago Caroline's daughter, amateur showjumper Charlotte Casiraghi persuaded her friends on the equestrian circuit to hold a benefit with a difference for children.

Dressed in fun Seventies costume, the royal poster girl tackled fences, raising hundreds of pounds for the cause in the process.

Charlotte Casiraghi reportedly splits up with Alex Dellal

10 JANUARY 2012

charlotte-alex4--a.jpg

Princess Caroline's daughter Charlotte Casiraghi has reportedly split with Alex Dellal - her boyfriend of four years.

charlotte-casiraghi-1-z.jpg

Reports in the French press are saying the 25-year-old Monegasque royal has already embarked on a new romance with French comedian and actor Gad Elmaleh.

The elegant brunette and the Frenchman were apparently spotted together in an exclusive Paris nightclub at the end of December.

charlotte-alex15--a.jpg

Gad, 40, recently took part in films Tintin and Midnight in Paris. He is originally from Morocco.

Charlotte and Alex, the son of millionaire property owner Guy Dellal got together in 2007.

They were introduced by his model sister Alice, and soon became inseparable.

Alex, the owner of trendy London art gallery 20 Hoxton Square, was often seen supporting Charlotte at the horse-riding events she enjoys so much.

She in turn accompanied him to his beloved art exhibitions, and he was her date at Prince Albert's wedding to Princess Charlene.

There has been no official statement from the Monaco royal palace.

With her love life in the spotlight, Charlotte Casiraghi makes a plea for privacy

18 JANUARY 2012

With her heritage as a member of Monaco's royal family and the granddaughter of Princess Grace, there's obvious interest in Charlotte Casiraghi.

And since she split with millionaire property heir and gallery owner Alex Dellal and embarked on a romance with French actor Gad Elmaleh, the 25-year-old is in the headlines again.

Charlotte+Casiraghi+Charlotte+Casiraghi+LAX+TbUmn-IMsHOl.jpg

But now Princess Caroline's daughter, who's based in Paris, wants to make a division between her public and private life.

While she's more than happy to be pictured at official occasions such as the recent wedding of her uncle Prince Albert, when she's off duty it's another matter.

The pretty royal has decided to file a complaint against intrusive media coverage.

Her lawyer Alain Toucas said: "She is followed relentlessly day and night by a dozen individuals and/or photographers, which could be considered a damaging attack on her private life.

"It's a daily hell, these pursuits on motorbikes and cars are moral damage and also represent a risk of actual physical damage.

"It's also putting others in danger," added the lawyer, who was also an advisor to Princess Diana.

Charlotte Casiraghi Is The New Face Of Gucci

The Huffington Post Jessica Misener

Make some room, Evan Rachel Wood -- Gucci has tapped a new girl.

Model and royal Charlotte Casiraghi, who's the 25-year-old daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco and granddaughter of Princess Grace of Monaco, has been chosen as the new face of Gucci, People reports.

If you're saying, "WHO?", well, Casiraghi, a journalist and model, is no stranger to the fashion world -- check out her gorg Vogue Paris cover from 2011.

She's not new to Gucci, either -- Casiraghi has had a partnership with the brand for two years, in which she helped create equestrian clothes that are definitely fancier than your usual plaid shirts and spurs. That's right, did we mention she's also a prize-winning rider?

Evan Rachel Wood, who's been shilling Gucci's "Guilty" fragrance for a couple years, will remain with the brand.

Charlotte Casiraghi Becomes Actual Fashion Royalty as Face of Gucci!

05 March 2012 by Zoe Beaty

Princess-Charlotte-Casiraghi-Becomes-Actual-Fashion-Royalty-as-Face-of-Gucci_.jpg

If you think Kate Middleton has it all, think again. Yep, Charlotte Casiraghi of Monaco has out-done our fave Duchess, after landing herself a contract to be the brand new official face of Gucci – making her actual, err, fashion royalty.

It’s not standard royal etiquette, but Charlotte, who is fourth in line to the throne in Monaco, is more than acquainted with Fash Land. She’s already been shot by Mario Testino to star on the cover of French Vogue, co-founded Ever Manifesto magazine (a mix of fashion and environmentalism) and is often found on Paris Fashion Week’s FROW alongside the likes of Kate Moss and YSL’s Stefano Pilati. And that’s not all – her grandmother is none other than Grace Kelly. (Not. Even. Joking.)

She’s no stranger to Gucci, either - who, FYI, will be hosting a special dinner in honour of Charlotte’s new role. The 25-year-old brunette beaut was the equestrian ambassador for the label prior to her latest appointment, and has worn the Gucci gear for the past two years to compete in events such as the 2011 Global Champions tour. Oh yeah, did we mention that she’s also a prize-winning horse rider? *Sigh*.

So, it’s not surprising that Gucci’s Creative Director Frida Giannini hand-picked her for the brand new ad campaign – especially since she once said that she considered Charlotte among her top 15 personal fashion icons. She described Charlotte as ‘the modern royal whose effortless elegance defies contemporary style’. Basically, she makes our beloved Duchess of Cambridge look like your Nan.

Horse Sense

Monegasque royalty Charlotte Casiraghi has one hell of a pedigree: daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco, Charlotte is the granddaughter of the late Prince Ranier of Monaco and Princess Grace, née Grace Kelly. But Casiraghi is no Hitchcock-blonde icicle, draped in silks and drifting about on delicate heels—you can find her on horseback, in muddy riding boots, hair pulled back, with a hint of sweat on her brow. Not to say she isn’t graceful while atop a leaping horse—in fact, she looks so good in riding pants that Gucci snatched her up as its brand ambassador last year. Today she’s the face of its Forever Now campaign, which celebrates Gucci’s 90-year anniversary. Herewith, a look at Casiraghi’s equestrian-chic style, and details about what goes into her looks.

item0.rendition.slideshowWideVertical.casiraghi-ss01.jpg

Prior to her Gucci sponsorship in May 2010, Casiraghi’s personal riding style was relatively safe, comprising navy-blue riding jackets and traditional minimalist collars. Nevertheless, small details on her ridingwear—such as an embroidered M, the symbol of the luxury cosmetics chain, Marionnaud—are signs of her past, lesser-known sponsors. Here, she’s seen training a new horse in Fontainebleau, France, in 2004.

item1.rendition.slideshowWideHorizontal.casiraghi-ss02.png

In 2006, at the international jumping competition in Barbizon, France, Charlotte wears a helmet with a clear strap—a style that was popular in the 90s. “The upside-down bow on the back of the riding helmet signifies that the rider is an amateur,” says three-time riding Olympian Kathy Kusner. “If the bow end is hanging down, it would mean [she] was a professional.”

item2.rendition.slideshowWideVertical.casiraghi-ss03.jpg

At a jumping competition in Monaco, Charlotte wore a traditional all-white ensemble with a simple collared riding top and an Hermès belt. Sleeveless shirts are typical at competitions held in warm locations, such as her home country.

item3.rendition.slideshowWideVertical.casiraghi-ss04.jpg

By May 2010, Casiraghi had sealed the deal with Gucci and began strutting the fields in clothes that were designed for her by the company’s creative director, Frida Giannini. Charlotte’s custom-made field boots—seen here at a competition in Spain—are made of more supple leather than others, crafted with a wavy Spanish cut, and usually worn by jumpers. “Hers are nice and high, so they make her leg look long,” says Rahel Araya, a competitive rider and seven-year sales associate at the Manhattan Saddlery. High-end custom riding boots from brands such as E. Vogel can cost up to $1,500. “Gucci is another thing,” Kusner says. “Gucci is not what even the normal high-end buyers get.”

item4.rendition.slideshowWideVertical.casiraghi-ss05.jpg

At a competition in July 2010, Casiraghi wears a Gucci vest. The accents of her warm-up vest pay homage to a floral red-and-green scarf print that the company designed for Grace Kelly.

item5.rendition.slideshowWideVertical.casiraghi-ss06.jpg

Working within the strict competition wardrobe guidelines, Giannini has focused a great deal of attention to the styling of Casiraghi’s collars and jacket lining. Though traditional riding collars are one piece of fabric and held in place with a decorative pin in the front, many of Casiraghi’s riding looks feature an asymmetrical green-and-red pin.

item6.rendition.slideshowWideHorizontal.casiraghi-ss07.jpg

Since she’s an amateur jumper, Casiraghi’s riding jackets must have four buttons. Here, she’s styled in a traditional sock tie and an updated helmet. Her horse is also decked out in its own attire, sporting a fly guard with a special emblem.

item7.rendition.slideshowWideVertical.casiraghi-ss08.jpg

At a Global Champion tour event in 2010, Casiraghi wears a crisp, short-sleeved button-up shirt with a sock tie and a decorative Gucci pin, her hair pulled back for competition. Above the small zipper pocket on her britches, Gucci has strategically stitched in another green-red-green patch of color.

item8.rendition.slideshowWideVertical.casiraghi-ss09.jpg

Though most riding blazers don’t have special embroideries, the decoration on Casiraghi’s blazer at a 2011 competition in Valencia, Spain, is most definitely the work of Gucci.

item9.rendition.slideshowWideVertical.casiraghi-ss10.jpg

Compared with American competitions, international events tend to be more lenient about bright colors. “We won’t typically wear colors like that,” says Araya. “It’s usually more conservative.”

item10.rendition.slideshowWideVertical.casiraghi-ss11.jpg

Getting comfortable with Gucci’s look, Casiraghi struts the Global Champion tour grounds in Monte Carlo in 2011 with a crisp, light embroidered shirt and slim-fit riding britches. The pads on her inner thighs are called knee patches. “They’re lined with suede on the outside, so they help you grip to the saddle more,” says Araya.

Charlotte Casiraghi is the new face of Gucci

By Fiona Raisbeck on Monday 5 March 2012

She’s the granddaughter of Hollywood style icon Grace Kelly, so it was only a matter of time before the equally chic Charlotte Casiraghi fronted a major advertising campaign for one of the leading fashion labels.

Gucci revealed today that the fourth in line to the throne of Monaco is its latest star poster girl and will front the Italian brand’s new Forever Now campaign, which launched last year in celebration of the house’s 90th anniversary.

The brunette princess, a journalist and keen horsewoman with an impressive equestrian career, will appear in a four-part series of pictures each shot by an iconic photographer.

First up, is German snapper Peter Lindbergh and it’s understood that each image will reference the equestrian fashion themes central to the history of Gucci, such as the bridle bit.

It’s not the first time the 25-year-old, who is rumoured to be dating French actor Gad Elmaleh, has teamed up with Gucci. For the past two years, Casiraghi has been the official equestrian ambassador for the label, with Gucci’s Creative Director, Frida Giannini, designing her showjumping wardrobe whilst she competes in the annual Global Champions Tour.

Casiraghi will join the likes of actress Evan Rachel Wood and Australian model Abbey Lee Kershaw as faces of the brand.

Can’t wait to see the campaign pictures!

Revealed: Charlotte Casiraghi’s Gucci campaign

See Charlotte Casiraghi's 'Forever Now' campaign for Gucci and watch a behind-the-scenes video of the making of the advert.

BY Olivia Bergin | 06 March 2012

Captured by Peter Lindbergh, the portrait of Charlotte Casiraghi released today by Gucci is the first in a series of sittings to take place between the young Monaco royal and four celebrated fashion photographers over the next two years.

Casiraghi and Gucci have pooled their love of horses and riding - Casiraghi is a show jumper, while the label's founder, Guccio Gucci, appropriated the brand's signature green and red stripe from the canvas girth strap of a horse's saddle - to create the campaign.

With a stable as a backdrop, Casiraghi cuts a pensive figure as she models a Gucci headscarf and handbag trimmed with Gucci's red and green motif.

Gucci's creative director, Frida Giannini has been exclusively designing Casiraghi's riding gear for the past couple of years, and has enjoyed taking their partnership to the next level.

Talking of 25 year-old Charlotte, Giannini said: "She not only embodies the beauty and the grace of the equestrian, but is also a wonderful ambassador for the sport. While designing her riding wardrobe, I have gained an appreciation for her innate ability to combine family traditions with a uniquely modern attitude... Charlotte brings the spirit of Gucci to life so elegantly."

Casiraghi, the granddaughter of actress Grace Kelly (Princess Grace of Monaco) said: "There was a great synergy while working with Frida and her team to elaborate this unique collaboration with Gucci and we all really had the same desire to make it something special and creative."

The new 'Forever Now' campaign will appear worldwide from March 7, running in newspapers and fashion and lifestyle magazines complementing Gucci's seasonal fashion campaigns.

That Touch of Grace

By Ingrid Sischy

Photograph by Peter Lindbergh

cn_image.size.casiraghi.jpg

Charlotte Casiraghi, photographed in Paris.

It’s not much more than a dot on the French Riviera, but tiny Monaco sure gets its share of ink. As the principality’s latest and possibly most reluctant object of desire explains, “It’s not a question of size, of whether it’s a small or a big thing, but of what it has the power to incarnate.”

She should know. If your great-grandpa, an Olympic gold-medal-winning rower, was once heralded as the American male with the ideal bod, if your granny was Grace Kelly, and if your mom is Princess Caroline, you might have a long lens on you too. Merlin the magician couldn’t have come up with a more potent brew of blue and hot-red blood than the lineage 25-year-old Charlotte Casiraghi descends from, and that’s just the maternal side of the family. (Her father, Stefano Casiraghi, an Italian businessman, died in a speedboat accident when Charlotte was four.)

Oh, and did I mention the looks? Let’s just say the genes came through, and Princess Grace’s irascible former director, Alfred Hitchcock, would have approved, though he might have asked her to go blond instead of keeping her natural chestnut.

Casiraghi, a dedicated equestrian and amateur show jumper, is about to take a different kind of leap, appearing in her first-ever advertisements as the face of Gucci’s history-minded Forever Now campaign, which swung into high gear last year in celebration of the house’s 90th anniversary. Casiraghi’s contribution is a four-part series, each to be shot by an iconic photographer, starting with Peter Lindbergh (who also took this photo), with the whole shebang overseen by Frida Giannini, the company’s creative director. The plan is that each image will reference the equestrian fashion themes that are so integral to the history of the house—the bit, the green-red-green webbing, and so on—a perfect fit given Casiraghi’s passion for show jumping: “It’s one of the only sports that is completely equal between men and women,” she says.

This is no one-night stand. For starters, Gucci’s famous floral print was born as a headscarf for Princess Grace; more recently, Giannini has been designing Casiraghi’s equestrian wardrobe, and the house sponsors her amateur show-jumping career. (She’s hoping to emulate Great-Grandpa at the Olympics someday.) The designer has her own equestrian history, too, which reinforces the sense of aptness that ripples through this collaboration. To this day Giannini takes every opportunity she can to ride her own horse, which is stabled in the Italian countryside, south of Rome. “I run to him,” she confesses. His name? Bientôt.

First look at Monaco Royal Charlotte Casiraghi as the new face of Gucci

By Tamara Abraham

Last updated at 10:14 PM on 6th March 2012

As the granddaughter of Grace Kelly, Charlotte Casiraghi was always going to be blessed in the looks department. So it comes as little surprise that designer labels are desperate to dress her.

Gucci last week landed a major coup though, when it announced that the young Monaco Royal had been signed as the label's newest face.

Now the first image from the 25-year-old's campaign for the Italian fashion powerhouse has been released.

CHARLOTTE-CASIRAGHI-GUCCI-AD.jpg

By Royal appointment: The first image showing Charlotte Casiraghi of Monaco as the face of Gucci

Paying tribute to her equestrian talents, the shoot, by photographer Peter Lindbergh, took place at a snowy stable.

Miss Casiraghi is seen leaning against a hay bale in the final shot with her hair loose and tousled and a scarf tied around the forehead. Her make-up is minimal and her riding boots can be glimpsed in the bottom of the frame.

She also wears a red riding jacket, high-necked black shirt and johdpurs, all most likely part of the riding kit that Gucci exclusively created for her to compete in.

Behind-the-scenes: Footage from the Gucci shoot shows Miss Casiraghi posing with a horse as well

article-2111204-120E88C2000005DC-926_634x405.jpg

The natural look: Though the young Royal is clearly wearing make-up, it appears to have been kept to

a minimum, and her long dark hair is windswept rather than perfectly coiffed

Behind-the-scenes footage from the shoot obtained by Grazia shows Miss Casiraghi posing with a horse as well. Clearly at ease with the animals, she seems in control as she guides its head in order that it is at the best angle for the photographer, and unfazed by the freezing conditions.

Of course the equestrian theme is an important one for Gucci too. Mr Gucci was inspired to use that now-signature red-and-green stripe after seeing it on a horse's saddle in the Fifties.

Though Royals will rarely front fashion campaigns - certainly the Duchess of Cambridge and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie would be unlikely to do so - Miss Casiraghi and Gucci's creative director share a special bond.

conditions

article-2111204-120E88B7000005DC-728_634x364.jpg

Equestrian theme: Though Royals will rarely front fashion campaigns, Miss Casiraghi and Gucci's

creative director, Frida Giannini, share a passion for horses

Frida Giannini explained: 'Over the last two years I have had the pleasure and privilege to get to know Charlotte through our shared passion for horses.

'She not only embodies the beauty and the grace of the equestrian, but is also a wonderful ambassador for the sport.'

Miss Casiraghi was equally full of praise for Ms Giannini, adding: 'I admire Frida’s talent as a designer and she has really managed to reinvent the codes of Gucci by giving them a modern twist and a timeless elegance.'

The young Royal follows in the footsteps of the Queen's granddaughter, Zara Phillips, who fronted a campaign for a range of equestrian clothing for British firm Musto in 2010.

I love the Grimaldi - starting from Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly of course. I think this family is beautiful and like any of us. They are more real and mortals like any of us. They have face so many scandals and admitted their mistake.

One thing I like most - like just say that their family are so close. They are always together and looking out for each other. We have to thanks Prince Rainier and Princess Grace for show them that family is the most important

I just wish Grace Kelly would be around and see how good looking her grandchildren are. They are really gorgeous.... What a gene pool

First look: Charlotte Casiraghi 'embodies the spirit of Gucci'

06 MARCH 2012

Monagesque sweetheart Charlotte Casiraghi has officially become fashion royalty.

With her tousled brunette locks lending a romantic frame to her stunning features, the royal graces the new campaign for Gucci.

And the 25-year-old, who has inherited her style from her mother Princess Caroline and grandmother Grace Kelly, has described the collaboration as “very exciting”.

She said she feels "great synergy" working with creative director Frida Giannini. "We all shared the desire to make it something special.

“I find it very exciting to have the opportunity to work with some of the best photographers in the world in honour of Gucci's heritage."

Meanwhile, the decision to sign up Monaco's royal poster girl was fairly obvious. According to Frida, Charlotte “embodies the spirit of Gucci in true elegance.”

The partnership started because both ladies are passionate equestrians.

"She's a wonderful ambassador for the sport," said Frida who already designs her showjumping wardrobe.

“While designing for her equestrian line, I learned to appreciate her innate skill at combining family traditions with an exceptional modern attitude."
