Lee Kwang Soo gives top-notch fan service in Singapore class="pvrichtxttitle" style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin: 9px 0px 0px; padding: 0px; font-weight: normal; line-height: 1.286em; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"Hits and misses of South Korea’s much loved entertainer, Lee Kwang Soo’s fan-meeting session!

It sure did not feel like it was Lee Kwang Soo’s first fan-meeting session as the 1.9 meters tall entertainer easily charmed fans with his innate sense of humor and charisma at Resorts World Sentosa last Saturday.

Held at the Festive Grand Theatre, the Singapore fan-meet was the 28-year-old’s virgin experience in his entertainment career. Kwang Soo, who shot to fame after being a regular cast in popular Korean variety show, Running Man, was grateful for the great hospitality of Singaporean fans.

While there were minor hiccups along the way with his performances, Kwang Soo redeemed himself with his signature robot dance, hilarious antics and generous fan service. Click on to find out more about the hits and misses of Kwang Soo’s first Singapore fan-meet.

Hit: Mesmerising stage performances

Fans went hysterical as Kwang Soo serenaded the crowd with TVXQ’s 'Hug' as his opening number. Best known for his role in Running Man and latest drama, Goddess of Fire, the 28-year-old definitely had pretty good vocals too.

He even got fans cooing when he brought out his keyboard in the second half of the show and sang another favorite song, Yoo Jae Ha's “Because I love you”.

Miss: Forgetting the first verse of a song

Kwang Soo, who was extremely nervous that day, suffered a few minor setbacks with his performances that evening. Perhaps singing isn’t his strongest talent; he was a little shaky with his vocal pitch for 'Hug' and had later forgotten the starting verse to 'Because It’s You'.

Instead of trying to cover up for his mistakes, the lanky multi-hyphenate giggled shyly on stage, exposing his faults all at once. Later when asked about his bloopers, Kwang Soo then burst into laughter and confidently replied, “This has never happened to me before.”

His adorable self-assurance was a pleasant cover-up and we can't help but fall for his charm. After all, this is the latter’s first fan-meeting session. There's definitely room for improvement.

Hit: Generous fan service

While he may not be the best singer as compared to other A-listers in the industry, this ‘Asian Prince’ definitely knows the way to make his fans happy.

Not only does he fulfill the usual fan service like autographs and photos, this friendly idol adhered to impromptu requests without much hesitation. This included doing more than what was required, like a kiss on the forehead or a piggy back ride.

At his last performance, Kwang Soo caught fans off-guard as he jumped off the stage to get closer to them while finishing a popular movie soundtrack, 'I Believe' from My Sassy Girl.

Hit: Learning to speak our language

It was a joy to watch Kwang Soo pick up popular Malay and Chinese phrases. When asked to demonstrate his new learned phrases like for example, 抱抱 (which means hug in Chinese), he quickly shied away from it as he mistook it for bobo (which means kiss in Korean).

Hit: A heartwarming encouragement video

Apart from getting to see Running Man’s beloved maknae (the youngest member in the group), fans were in for a treat as an exclusive video from the rest of the running man cast was shown, nearing the end of the show.

Knowing that it was Kwang Soo’s first overseas fan-meet, the running man cast (Kim Jong Kook, Song Ji Hyo, Yoo Jae Suk, Gary, HaHa and Ji Suk Jin) had decided to film a short clip to encourage their ‘betrayer’. Started in 2010,Running Man was an instant hit and members of the show were as close as family, despite the competitive relationship shared onscreen.

Miss: Where’s the Giraffe suit?

Dubbed as South Korea’s most loved giraffe due to his soaring height, Kwang Soo has been constantly showered by fans with giraffe related merchandises. The 1.9 meters tall artist, who frankly admitted that he was comfortable with his height during the press conference interview on Friday, was greeted by fans who came dressed in giraffe headbands and tee shirts that evening.

But unlike his fans enthusiastic support for the lanky entertainer’s nickname, Kwang Soo was nowhere seen in a giraffe suit (not that he promised to be in one) during the show. Don't you (or is it just us) think that Kwang Soo may have wowed the crowd more if he had appeared in a giraffe suit?

SINGAPORE: With hiccups onstage and repeated exclamations of nervousness, one would hardly describe South Korean entertainer Lee Kwang Soo as charming.

Yet, he had star-struck fans roaring with laughter and screaming for more.

Lee kicked off his first-ever overseas solo fan meeting in Singapore on Saturday at Resorts World Sentosa’s Festive Grand Theatre.

The predominantly-female audience, comprising teenagers and young adults, screamed and waved enthusiastically as he appeared on stage crooning TVXQ’s “Hug”.

Lee, who later confessed unabashedly to being extremely nervous, giggled during the song and went off-key several times.

But that didn’t dent fans’ adoration for him. Instead, the screams rose to fever pitch to cheer him on.

Later, the 28-year-old had another bumpy start to his rendition of “Because It’s You”, forgetting the first verse of the song.

Of course, the fans didn’t mind his bloopers, chanting “it’s okay” in Korean as he giggled shyly.

Despite the hiccups, Lee didn’t disappoint in keeping the audience entertained.

Lee brought his kooky on-screen persona in South Korean variety show “Running Man” to the fan meeting, showcasing his signature silly dance moves and poses, which got the audience in stitches.

“Running Man”, which debuted in 2010 in South Korea, has gained a large following across the region. In the show, regular cast members and guests compete in various missions.

Fans also got a surprise as a clip featuring the rest of the “Running Man” cast and Lee’s celebrity pals was screened.

The cast, consisting of Kim Jong-kook, Haha, Song Ji-hyo, Gary, Ji Suk-jin and Yoo Jae-suk, offered words of encouragement for Lee and greetings for fans in Singapore in the short but heartwarming video.

Actors Jo In-sung, Lee Dong-wook, Kim Beom and Song Joong-ki also appeared in the video to cheer Lee on.

Lee ended the show with yet another surprise, hopping off the stage to get closer to fans as he sang “I Believe”, the soundtrack from the box office hit “My Sassy Girl”.

Rising star, but still grounded

Lee gave less-than-stellar vocal performances, but he redeemed himself with self-deprecating humour and a down-to-earth persona.

Throughout the evening, he thanked fans repeatedly for their support.

He also appeared to be overwhelmed by fans’ enthusiasm, exclaiming “I’m so nervous!” several times during the fan meeting.

In addition, Lee provided top-notch fan service, giving more than the usual autographs and photo opportunities.

He gamely obliged to fans’ requests for more, such as a kiss on the forehead and a piggyback ride.

There is definitely room for improvement, but Lee’s humility and humour still left a lasting and endearing impression.

Singapore fans want a piece of Running Man’s Lee Kwang Soo.

SINGAPORE — Lee Kwang Soo, a regular face on the popular Korean variety show Running Man, held his first fan meeting in Singapore on Saturday evening.

The 28-year-old, who earned the nickname “Giraffe” due to his height — he stands at a towering 1.90m — is the third Running Man cast member to hold a fan meet in Singapore. Both Kim Jong-Kook and HaHa stopped by earlier this year.

“Singapore is very hot,” he quipped. Made worse, we’re sure, by the fan fever boiling over at Resorts World Sentosa’s Festive Grand Theatre.

Lee did not disappoint fans, showcasing his signature robot dance, taking a long, giggle-inducing pause as he fumbled with the chords on the keyboard for a song, and comically bellowing a zealous “I love you” to tide over moments of awkwardness.

Through a series of games, lucky fans scored themselves stage time with the actor. Lee seemed overwhelmed by their enthusiasm — just as they appeared to be in awe of his presence — as he complied to their requests for a kiss on the forehead, hugs and even a piggyback ride.

Running Man, every Sunday, 7pm on MediaCorp Channel U.

Lee Kwang Soo, from the hit South Korean variety showRunning Man, has given Singaporean fans a healthy dose of charm in recent days. Over the weekend he met his fans in the Lion City at Resorts World Sentosa’s Festive Grand Theater and left his predominantly female fan base wanting more.

Despite having a bout of hiccups onstage, repeatedly admitting to the crowd his nervousness and even giggling while singing TVXQ’s song “Hug,” the fans couldn’t get enough. If anything, it made their adulation even more ardent.

“I’m so nervous!” he shouted many times to the delighted crowd.

And at moments he needed to smooth over rough spots he simply shouted, “I love you!”

When he sang off-key, they simply chanted “It’s OK” in Korean and egged him on. The 28-year-old performer – standing 190 cm tall and nicknamed the “giraffe” – also serenaded the gathering with “Because It’s You” – forgetting the entire first verse – and brought the show to a close with “I Believe” from the South Korean box office smash My Sassy Girl.

Running Man first debuted in South Korea in 2010 and has since become a hit around the region. Guests and cast members compete in various “missions” in this “urban action variety” show. A best-of compilation can be seen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cpf5xoeQxv0. On the show, Lee is known for his antics, which were on full display during his performance in Singapore. He busted a series of silly dance moves and poses, eliciting laughs from the audience.

Other hosts from Running Man, including Kim Jong-kook, Haha, Song Ji-hyo, Gary, Ji Suk-jin and Yoo Jae-suk, along with actors Jo In-Sung, Lee Dong-wook, Kim Beom and Song Joong-ki appeared in a video that was screened at the fan-greet. Lee’s celebrity chums were there on screen to offer their anxious friend onstage words of encouragement.

As Channel News Asia notes, Lee’s charm offensive allowed him to pull off a less than perfect performance, writing, “he redeemed himself with self-deprecating humor and a down-to-earth persona.” This came with a generous number of autographs and photo opportunities – even piggyback rides and kisses on the forehead.

Photos of the event can be seen here.

Lee Kwang Soo Looks Dark in the New Stills of “Confession”

New stills of Lee Kwang Soo in the upcoming film “Confession” (aka “Good Friends“) have been revealed.

“Good Friends” is a crime film where the loyalties of three friends are tested through an unexpected accident, building suspicions between them. The character that Lee Kwang Soo plays, Min Soo, is loyal to his friends, who have become his only family. Lee Kwang Soo was able to perfectly express the kinds of mental changes Min Soo goes through as the story progresses, earning a lot of praise.

Moreover, in order to make his character seem more realistic, he acted out all the action scenes without using a double.

Lee Kwang Soo explained that, “The martial arts director choreographed the action scenes and after discussing it with Joo Ji Hoon, I thought it would be best for me to do it myself, so I did. Although it was painful when I got hit, it was a big help.” The staff complimented Lee Kwang Soo for being able to act out the scenes so well, naming him the “professional actor in getting hit.”

Actor Joo Ji Hoon, who acted with him said, “It hasn’t been that long since we’ve started filming and we filmed a fight scene. I’m thankful to Lee Kwang Soo for being open-minded and for doing well.”

Lee Kwang Soo has been receiving a lot of compliments from the staff for his hard work. There was a scene where he had to vomit, and in order to make it look realistic he made himself actually vomit.

Director Lee Do Yoon expressed his thankfulness towards Lee Kwang Soo by saying, “Lee Kwang Soo is working the hardest. In the film, Min Soo is a character that likes to drink alcohol and when we film that scene, he would almost drink the whole bottle.”

Also, there is a scene where Lee Kwang Soo had glass fragments stuck in his feet and despite the pain, he was able to focus on his acting, showing his professionalism. (See: Joo Ji Hoon Explains Why Lee Kwang Soo Made Him Cry) Many are anticipating this movie, as Lee Kwang Soo is passionately acting out his character with everything he has.

“Confession” will be released on July 10.

It was revealed that Lee Kwang Soo had shards of glass stuck on his foot during filming. “We were filming and there seemed to be something unnatural with how Lee Kwang Soo moved. But then he finished his scene naturally and I thought, ‘This isn’t how he naturally is.’ I saw there were shards of glass pinned on the ground and it’s painful to step on that barefoot. He was squirming in pain and I was really moved to tears,” revealed Joo Ji Hoon.

Lee Kwang Soo added, “Although I was the youngest, Joo Ji Hoon was concentrating on the scene so I didn’t want to ruin that.”

Lee Kwang Soo confirmed for new SBS drama 'It's Okay, That's Love'

They have finally been confirmed! Jo In Sung, Gong Hyo Jin, and Lee Kwang Soo have all signed on to the already highly anticipated drama, ”It’s Okay, It’s Love“ (working title). Actor Sung Dong Il and EXO‘s D.O. were previously confirmed.

“It’s Okay, It’s Love” will be the first Korean psychiatric drama. It will portray the reality of the lives and love of modern day people who live with psychological burdens. It will attempt to give an honest and serious answer to the question, “What do you do when your heart gets a cold, or gets cancer, or gets diabetes?”

Jo In Sung will play the male lead role of Jang Jae Yeol, a mystery writer and a radio DJ who suffers from obsessive-compulsive neurosis. He will be working once again with Noh Hee Kyung, the writer and Kim Kyu Tae, the director behind “That Winter, The Wind Blows.”

Gong Hyo Jin will play the lead female character of Ji Hye Soo, a first year fellow in the psychiatric department at a university hospital. She chooses psychiatry for the appeal of not having to work overtime at night and not having to conduct any surgeries. However, her life changes after she meets Jang Jae Yeol. The last time Gong Hyo Jin worked with Noh Hee Kyung was 13 years ago.

Sung Dong Il will play Ji Hye Soo’s first love, Jo Dong Min, who is also her sunbae in the hospital.

Lee Kwang Soo takes on the role of Park Soo Kwang who has Tourette syndrome, which is an inherited neuropsychiatric disorder that involve repetitive, non rhythmic movements – also known as tics . However, past research noted that individuals with the syndrome are unusually gifted on timed tests of motor coordination.

D.O. is cast in the role of Han Kang Woo, a high school student aspiring to be a best-selling writer to make his mother happy. He is also a fan of Jang Jae Yeol. Han Kang Woo is a mysterious character who will have a large influence on the development of the drama with his innocence.

“It’s Okay, It’s Love” is slated to air in July on SBS after “You’re Surrounded,” which follows “Three Days.”
