[iNTERVIEW] SEUNGRI IS THE FUNNEST CHARACTER IN BIG BANG (110201)

The youngest member was brave. No, he was powerful.

Big Bang’s member, Seungri, has come out strong as a solo and have been capturing the hearts of many ladies through his powerful performance and stylish stage. Seungri made a comeback on January 20th and have been meeting the fans through his mini album’s double title song, So What and VVIP.

When he was promoting Strong Baby, he had the image of a rebel. This time, he has upgraded and has become mature, which a lot of people can see. He has been getting positive feedback of his live performance on music programs with a steady vocal and a stronger performance. Most of the songs are songs that he made himself.

Along with the title songs So What and VVIP, he has written Magic, I Know, White Love and many more. He even participated in the production process. Of course, being the member in Big Bang who often took care of the choreography, he, once again, created the dance for these songs himself. This mini album is filled with his scent and it’s also an album where he newly transforms from a boy to a man. He announced his first solo song, Strong Baby and performed on various stages and when you compare him from that time to now, it feels like his sexiness is different.

As soon as Seungri’s first solo album was released, on various on and offline charts, he got 1st place and has been placed high in various charts and have shown a very successful start. Even with a terrible flu, he says that his meeting with the fans is always exciting and that’s where our conversation begins.

Q: You’ve released your first solo album.

It was an album that I was waiting for. I’ve prepared a lot and tried a lot of different things. Strong Baby was one of the songs on Big Bang’s album. I would like to think of this as my first solo activity because this is the album that was created with my name.

Q: You got first place as soon as it was released. Tell us about the most rememberable reaction.

I have a very good memory. It’s up to the point where when the recording starts at a music program, I can memorize the order of the camera that’s going to capture me. During the rehearsal, when I memorize the order of the camera and I go on stage for a live performance, my expression and my stance becomes more stable and I’m able to change whatever is necessary. That’s why when the camera director tells me that I looked good, I feel good.

Q: When you’re on stage, you’re just overflowing with comfort. There’s also a lot of comments about being sexy. What would you say is different from when you were doing Strong Baby.

I think when I was performing with Strong Baby, I had an image of a boy but now I’m at the age where I’m able to naturally show off my manliness. I don’t try to create a sexy atmosphere on purpose. I think people are just watching me in a good way because of my self-confidence and showing my passion on stage while singing. That could also be my definition of sexiness.

Q: You cosplayed as the members of Big Bang and it became an issue. Which member was the hardest to cosplay?

It was definitely T.O.P. It took a long time to dye my hair and to raise it like he does. All the members thought it was funny so I was pretty proud.

Q: GD&TOP’s album and activities overlay yours. The unit that was formed within Big Bang, tell us how you felt when you first started your activities.

It was strange. When I get off stage, they would go on stage and it still feels weird to me. One thing that’s good is we’re able to monitor each other’s performances. They would give me pointers about my expressions and my stance. It sounds like nagging but it helps me a lot. (Laughs)

Q: You did a duet with IU. What kind of experience was it to do a duet with a popular woman singer after spending time with guys in a male group?

I’ve known IU before she debuted 3 years ago. While I was preparing the album, there was a duet song and I asked if she could help me out on the song. It was a hectic time for her but she decided to help. I was touched at the fact that she took time out of her busy schedule and helped record. I’m 100% satisfied with this song.

Q: During “Night After Night” and “Strong Heart” and on other programs, when the members are on it, there are many times when you are the subject that they joke about. How do you feel about that? Even though they are your members, do you not feel good about it?

I’m a human being too so why wouldn’t I not feel good about it? (Laughs) I wish Big Bang would not only be the best in music programs but also in variety programs as well. They don’t say it themselves but they all think about that. I think I become the scapegoat because I have the funnest and dorkiest character which would be fun to joke about. I think they would say those things because they’re just jokes that you can just laugh about and move on. I think it’s funny as well.

Q: It’s already been 6 years since you debuted. There’s a lot of juniors. As a solo singer and a member of Big Bang, what would you say your goal is.

When I got to a music program, there aren’t that many seniors and it’s gotten to the point where the placement has changed. At this stage, I feel responsible. There’s a lot of juniors who have talent. When I think that the juniors are watching, it’s true that I get nervous.

Q: Big Bang’s activities are almost here. It’s been 2 years since you’ve done any kind of activity and tell us your goals.

Rather than being nervous, I’m excited. Since it’s been 2 years since we’ve done any kind of activities in Korea, all the member’s goals of wanting to show off their best this time is great. To prepare for this album, all the members have gathered around and have been contemplating. The most important thing about this activity is to approach in a friendly manner. I don’t think Big Bang has been very comfortable and friendly when it comes to image. We’ve all suggested that we wanted to perform a song where people can approach us easily since it’s been a while we’ve stood on stage. I would also like it if we can go on various variety programs and talk shows and do activities with fun.

The weekly star that we are going to talk about this week is Seungri, a member of BIGBANG who has just released his first solo album. This album has delivered us a brand new Seungri since we can see how he has transformed from a young boy who desired to grow up into a gentleman. Seungri i no longer a sigh that was put on the stage but he also has the ability to convey his innermost feelings to u through his music.The gate ofSeungri's World has already opened and he invites us to go in and have a look.

The destined encounter with V.V.I.P

After BIGBANG released their second album in 2008, Seungri had done some individual promotion for his solo song and he did really surprise us and changed our perception about him.

Through those activities, we can witness he has transformed from an innocent young kid into a mature and charming person. The image that he presents in this solo album 'V.V.I.P' is the side of Seungri that we have not seen before. He is even more mature and knows how to manage his style well. The music talents that he did not have chances to show us while he was doing group activities have also been shown this time. In order to present a fresh Seungri to us, we can see that the veteran members of YG production team, like Teddy has not participated in his album. On the contrary, Dee. P and Choice 37 and other new producers have provided their new ideas to it.

Immediately after the new album has released, the songs have then claimed the top spots in many music charts. Before Seungri actually came back, his song had already captured the first place in M!Countdown. It also symbolizes as a singer, Seungri has successfully conquered our hearts. His comeback has even shocked some American artists, a famous US artist, Paris Hilton has given high praise to him and even wrote 'so sexy' on her blog.

The members of BIGBANG did not carry out any group activities in the past two years but they have all found their right areas to develop. G-Dragon and Taeyang have had their solo music activities started, TOP has started his acting life and Daesung has also tried to participate in variety shows and TV programmes. Comparatively speaking, Seungri did not have much solo activities, especially in the field of music.

So. when he noticed that brothers have been so active in different areas, would he not want to chase after him? For this question, Seungri said he believes in destiny and he thinks everything happens to each person just in the right moments. In fact, he has started to learn composing songs a long time ago and he has taken every risk to make this album. At the very beginning, they only planned to release one single but YGE president, Yang Hyun Seok and other production team members reckoned it would be better to release a mini album for him. At last, there are totally six songs in the album that Seungri has participated in the production. Seungri likes to add his own ideas in the details of the song so the title of the mini album , 'V.V.I.P' does also carry a profound meaning. In the MV of 'V.V.I.P', the image of key always appears from time to time since he wants to let us know we are all 'V.V.I.P' who are holding the key of his heart and are welcomed to walk into his world.

Since BIGBANG is going to comeback in the end February, the promotion period of Seungri' promotion period will be shortened. He is also sorry for it, 'I want to show more sides of myself to you all. How about I still uphold the identity of Seungri when I am promoting in the group too?'

Walking in the midst of being proud and having no self confidence

Imagine the cruel situation that he was in at that time. How brilliant his team members were! However, the only thing that supported him to striving for his dream was still the inborn confidence. When he recalled the period that when he was still a trainee, he said the the weapon that the president had in order to deal with the trainees was 'ignore' them. His greatest wish at that time was hearing the president to call his name once. Yes, that was our Seungri, no good body, no excellent vocal skills and he even doubted his dancing skill that he once so proud of. Since BIGBANG has become more and more popular, Seungri' confidence has been consolidated again. He started to try more things, acting, musical,etc. His skills have been improving and so does his mind.

People always asked, 'What can a maknae do in a band?' ' I want to change this perception. This is my greatest interest too.' Today, Seungri will not be sad when others doubt his ability but he will prove his ability by his success. What motivate him most are his fan. Among the stars, he might be the one who interacts with fans most. When he is on the stage, he catches every one's attention and when he is leading his every day's life, he tries to satisfy every want of his fans. He is grateful to receive the gifts of his fan and will later wear the gifts to appear in front of the camera. Although he does not often say thank you,he used the most direct and frank way to convery his thankfulness. Aww I think he had a lot to learn back in those early days because he was such a star in his hometown already but maybe it was a wake up call for him when he came over to an entertainment company where basically everyone was on his level or doing much higher in terms of talent.  What matters is that he worked hard to catch up and truly dedicated himself to earning his spot.  Makes me love him more.

BIGSHOW 2010 to be shown in Japan on 19th February! (110202)

The legendary '2010 BIGBANG LIVE CONCERT BIGSHOW' would be shown in Japan with 3D visualization and realistic sounds which has already caused great excitement among their fans in Japan.

On 2nd, the film has already started showing in Korea and on 19th, it would be shown in Japan. The movie will show a more complete version of the show since it will also include their backstage clips of the show and of their first Japan tour. The live DVD was released beforehand but it is different from the 3D movie since the latter one will last for about 90 minutes.'

The tickets have started to be sold on 1st, Feb at e+ and there are 10000 poster of limited edition to be given away.
