My Love From The Star' Lead Actor Kim Soo Hyun Earns 500 Million Yuan In China For 2016

Chinese news media outlet exposed on November 21 that the "My Love from the Star" lead actor, Kim Soo Hyun earned 500 million yuan (approximately 90 billion won or $81 million USD) in China this year through his endorsements.

"Kim Soo Hyun, who is presently receiving the most love calls in China, is solely at the top when it comes to foreign stars," Yangtse Wanbao Nanjing Newspaper stated. "He drew in explosive interest this year while filming 'You Who Came from the Stars' and has been chosen as a CF model for over 30 brands."

"Kim Soo Hyun reportedly earns 1 billion won (approx. $900,000 USD) per CF that he shoots. Additionally, if his brand advertisement is exported to China or Japan he earns around 1.5 to 2 billion won each (approx. $1.3 to $1.8 million USD), All Kpop cited.

Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun is reported to be starring on a new movie entitled "Real" wherein his cousin is taking over as the director.

Kim Soo Hyun plays cold and ambitious Jang Tae Young, a popular problem solver in the criminal world, who wants to expand his power base by building a casino hotel. These stills appear to deliberately only show his silhouette to add more mystery to his character.

Ans: Mmm... I hope chinese audiene would evaluate me as an actor who is dare to challenge. I was forced or demanded by KSHBAR3 say something on this interview. I was just expected to say something and not to comment because they know that I don't study humanity and so in no position to talk about human beings especially celebrities. Celebrities are still human beings except that they are forced to act as if they are not humans. I was warned not to mention names and not to cause this thread into trouble. I am trying hard not to get this thread into trouble until KSHbar3 can resume their duties.

Kim Soo Hyun talked about the success of My Love from the Star. He said and I remember on many occasions that "The success of My Love From the Star accredited to the joint efforts or team works of all casts and production members". Never once did he gave credit only to himself.

I read many other interviews of other actors and got the impression that most of them think otherwise. Even if some did  mentioned about team work but the emphasis was still on the actor's own effort. There was one actor who was really out of this world when he tried to impress the interviewer that he was a very capable actor when the fact showed that he was very mediocre.

Kim Soo Hyun emphasised or repeatedly said that "Luck" played a big part to the success of a drama. I believe that luck is a necessity and not only important for the success of a drama or even movie. I am sure many will agree with me that lately those actors who gained popularity after a drama actually depended on being lucky to choose that drama which happened to relate to the people of South Korea.  However, where Kim Soo Hyun is concerned, it cant be that only luck blessed the success of all  his dramas and movies and so I come to the conclusion that his top notch acting also played a great part to the success of all his pieces of work. 

About being the most loved Hallyu Star, his answer as usual is "he is able to meet with a good role and good project". I doubt this sentence really apply to Kim Soo Hyun if I look at other" good roles and good projects" taken up by the other actors. Many actors do have the opportunity to choose "good roles and good projects" but how many as popular as Kim Soo Hyun in China today inspite of that good role and good project?  I agree totally that there are also other hallyu stars very popular in China. However, there is a slight difference. (I was warned by KSHBar3 not to make offensive statement but this is what I derived from the various votings conducted in China)

About hoping to be evaluated as a Challenger, Kim Soo Hyun is already  successful  today and in the foreseeable future. There are many other actors who wanted to walk out of their comfort zone and challenge themselves. Question is how many are successful. Logically speaking, to be successful or considered successful, the actor need to have a big fanbase.  If the fans are  mostly teenagers and will adore only young handsome and romantic  oppas, will they or their agency allow the venturing into the unknown zone risking the loss of the fans?. Most likely not.

How would Kim Soo Hyun answer to the interviewer if My Love from the Star did not do well? I can safely presumed that he will say that it is all due to his fault being the male lead. He will never mention about team work or anything to do with production of the drama.

Can someone please direct me to the right department if I need to complain about the hair dresser of Kim Soo Hyun. Kim Soo Hyun looked "Cute" in the Pictures taken at the "Hyung" VIP Premier. I prefer to see a gorgeous Kim Soo Hyun as in the picture below (thanks to KSHBar3) than a "cute" Kim Soo Hyun in the Premiere. Will his hair grow fast enough for the CF meeting in China 12 days later? That hair dresser is up to no good.

Can somebody guess the number of flashlights shining at the same time on Kim Soo Hyun in this picture? It appears as if the picture was taken under the bright sunlight when it was in the night. If I am not mistaken, this picture was taken during the VIP Premiere of Missing Woman. It just show the popularity of Kim Soo Hyun. Just attending a Premiere for Kim Soo Hyun was a big affair for the social media probably due to the low profile of the Mega Star.

Hi everybody, still the 3 of us though under a new profile. KSHBar3 could not log in to Soompi for a few days and so decided to open a new account instead of waiting indefinitely for miracles to happen. After reading this article we decide to air our grievances personally instead of through sjr2014.

We were very emotional when we read this article. Many reasons for not being able to control our emotions but mainly on 2 points.

1. We lost Yangxu  because of the CFs and popularity of Soo Hyun in China.

At the beginning of the year (2016) and for at least 6 months, Soo Hyun's every websites (even his facebook) were infested by worms, spams and rubbish. There should be another actor suffering the same fate but we dare not confirm since we dont visit his websites. The infested areas were so large in scale that it is not difficult to imagine the conglomerate/organisations/agencies involved to try to "depose"   Soo Hyun from the throne and to put up a "new kdrama king". It was so bad that you could see the hopeful new king's pictures and news in all Soo Hyun's sites (trust us that there are no exaggerations here). News of the hopeful new drama king taking over the popularity and earning more than Soo Hyun were found every now and then (though repeating most of the time) in Soo Hyun's sites. From reliable sources, news of Soo Hyun were not allowed in China during that period. When  a reporter from Hong Kong  reported about his presence in China during that period, Soo Hyun's fans in China wrote in to thank him for his courage in reporting news about Soo Hyun. (Again no exaggerations and trust us)

Under such circumstances Yangxu patience was already reaching the explosion limit. Those in charge of the scheme can create any news or reports to make sure that their unscrupulous plan works but should also show some respect to Soo Hyun especially when they knew that the reports were untrue and created by themselves. Yangxu was/is in the legal profession (she did correspond with some of the fans updating Soo Hyun's thread) and upholding justice is in her blood. Unfortunately she failed to understand that there is no JUSTICE TO UPHOLD in the entertainment industry. We wonder if she is following ENTOURAGE now. She blasted at one who try to convince Soo Hyun's fans to follow the hopeful new king as that was the last straw. She kept her anger under control for about 4 months not knowing where to let go the steam and here comes one to ask her to follow the hopeful one. Thereafter she was blocked from this thread. We begin to wonder whether Iluilu also suffers the same fate as her.

When we read the above report, we wish we can turn back time and Yangxu is still with us. How happy will she be when she read this article. The person she loved emerged as a winner inspite of all the shameful scheming and unscrupulous plans by others. What is noteworthy is that Soo Hyun emerged the winner without lifting his fingers. His Agency did NOTHING to defend him from all the fake news/reports. We wont be surprised if Soo Hyun changes Agency though we know he will not.

The 2nd point we consider worth noting is that Inspite of being in hiatus in 2016,  he remains that popular in China. For that, we have to thank not only the never-say-die fans of Soo Hyun in China, we should also be proud of the forceful personality of Soo Hyun himself. We do worry about the THAAD but we also believe that as long as the organisation involved believed in the power of Soo Hyun, they should be able to overcome that problem unless the restrictions become enforceable without any conditions.

We do hope that Yangxu and Iluilu are still following this thread though not likely.

Movie Secretly Greatly attracted 1 million moviegoers in 36 hours and 2 million in 72 hours and it continued to set a series of new records in the history of korean cinema. (Need to mention that from what we know, South Korea only have a population of about 50 million) Do correct us if we are wrong.

For this movie, Soo Hyun won the Best New Actor Awards at the 50th Grand Bell Awards and the 50th Baeksang Arts Awards as well as the popularity award. (information all obtained from his wikipedia)

Having said that, we are so surprised and definitely proud of Soo Hyun because that movie was released on 5th June 2013 and that was more than 3 years ago. In between (from June 2013 to end of 2016) so many other movies shown and so many actors both young or veterans arise before public eyes. Yet Soo Hyun not only remembered by the people for this movie, he is the top 6 among so many others.

In the cruel and unpredictable entertainment industry, being not active in the movie world for more than 3 years and still remains the top 6, Soo Hyun is  a rare gem. (Hope it is the right description because we really cant think of a better term to describe him). It is also worth Soo Hyun sacrificing the "attractive financial gains" in China (before the THAAD) and not venturing away from his country. The south koreans really appreciate his acting skill and support him. It works both ways.

Soo Hyun, please remain grounded and as low profile as possible. We fans are always proud of you.

Praying hard that this event goes smoothly with no hindrance or obstructions. We are worried that  for those whose events were cancelled due to the restrictions imposed after THAAD may not be happy to see some events successfully carried out. Until the 8th of December 2016, we still need to sit on edges. It should not be a small event as it is to be held at a stadium in Shanghai.  Fans of Soo Hyun from all over China may gather on that day to see our beloved Soo Hyun. Not surprising if fans from Hong Kong will also travel to Shanghai to see Soo Hyun.

Breathless when looking at this picture. This million dollar smile can kill. Soo Hyun's charming smile from his one heart robbed all the ladies of all their hearts. 

One may not be able to smile so sweetly and sincerely and pure unless smiling from his heart and soul. He is genuinely happy to see his fans. Undoubtedly, his fans must be extremely happy and excited to see his appearance at the Premiere.
