i dont know whether this belongs in this section or food lol

but is it safe to cook with nail polish on?

maybe its just me but i always have the feeling that the nail polish might somehow seep into my food or something and poison the food.

to your knowledge, has nail polish ever come off this way?

and some of my nail polishes are like wayyyy old like 15+ years old. if that matters.

Is that even possible?

You can wear those gloves like you see people do in restaurants.

Nail polish do chip during different events.

I watch Food Network a lot, and most of the women that have shows have like, really banging manicures. Haha.

I think you just have to be careful and not let it chip or anything like that. If the nail polish is cheap, or can come off easy, I suggest you just don´t wear it.

Either way, I don´t think the nail polish could poison your food. It would take a LOT of nail polish, not to mention, your body is pretty good at killing toxins, so a little bit of nail polish shouldn´t be a problem. I mean, we ate dirt as little kids, and shoved everything up our nose. And, have you considered all the chemicals they put in fast food? If we´re able to digest that, a little manicure should be nothing to worry about.

a lot of people end up eating some of their nail polish by biting their nails.

You won't die from it, but maybe you should get some new nail polish.

I don't think nail polish can just.. melt off.

And get new nail polish. o__o;; 15 year old nail polish must really stink up the place...

The shelf life of nail polish is approx. 2 years. You're 7x past that.

15 years? wouldnt it be like dried up by then? O.o

unless your using those really cheap type, then you shouldnt worry.

but do wait for it to dry though, at least a few hours and after a shower to get rid of the smell before you cook

dont your nail polishes have like those little metal balls in them to keep them from clumping?

and like my old ones actually smell the same as my new ones :<

haha and yes i must sound really cheap but i dont see the point of throwing them out when they're still usable like on your toenails and stuff.

LOL. I just cooked something and my nail polish is popping. XD

But, no, seriously, it should be fine. I suggest that you make sure you clean your nails before ya cook tho. Sometimes I forget too, then I panic and wash them; there is usually a small amount of dirt & germs under an average person's nails.

Nail polish doesn't actually have a shelf life.

If your nail polish dries up, it's normally because the chemicals have evaporated, which can be rectified by restorer. And it doesn't smell any different, Big Three free polishes (in my opinion) smell the same as the old formulas.

I've always cooked with nail polish on. I don't think it's particularly bad for your health or anything, even though nail polish is all chemical, it's not toxic.

it should be fine. you can do other things with nail polish on (eating?),

so i don't see why cooking would be a problem haha.

especially if the nail polish has dried properly.

maybe you should go get some new nail polish lol. but it would take ingesting lot of nail polish to harm you, you definitely won't have any problems just cooking with it on.
