There are a few different で particles...The で which is used for 'and' is actually the ~て form of だ (the regular form of です), you'll learn it later.

For location, で is used to show where you did something, so in English it would be similar to 'at'

学校で勉強しました

gakkou de benkyou shimashita

'I studed at school'

モールで買い物しました

mooru de kaimono shimashita

I went shopping at the mall

に is used to say 'in', or 'to'

部屋にいる

heya ni iru

He's in the room

学校に行きました

gakkou ni ikimashita

He went to school

i took japanese last semester... i find that it's pretty easy to learn... thank god I passed that class... with a C though... I didn't even pay attention in class and most of the time didn't show up... my friend hated me because she went to class everyday and paid attention but still passed with a B... hehehe... I'm happy I got a C though

anyways... I bet if I took it a second time around, I'll do good in that class... just a lot of words to memorize... this is what I remember at the moment... just enough to have a simple conversation. hehehe...

I'm proud at myself though... hehehe... hated the way my sensi teach his class but he's sooo reliable... i mean you can call him up at 2 am in the morning for homework help and he'll still help you... AND he even allows phone call conversations in class... he does it a couple of times himself... aahhh such a cool teacher... i'm think about taking it again... and actually learning everything...

よかった！！I finally have a Japanese class for spring semester ...but registration was a pain...I almost didn't get it.

I wish I could find a class to better and practice my Japanese a bit. All we had a year ago was beginning and Intermediate Japanese which was too easy for me. This year we have no Japanese classes anywhere nearby. IT SUCKS!

Shopowner in general is 店主 (tenshu)

Someone who owns a shop is referred to as shop name + san, so a bread shop owner would be called パン屋さん (pan-ya san)

The person who owns a sake shop would be called 酒屋さん (saka-ya san) and so on

To be caught is 捕まる (this is already passive in it's natural form so no need to change it)

よって is not necessary when using passives, just に

So it would look like:

パンを盗んだあと、彼は少し後でパン屋さんに捕まってしまいました

pan o nusunda ato, kare wa sukoshi ato de pan-ya san ni tsukamatte shimaimashita

It sounds abit more natural in Japanese to say this though, even if it differs slightly from the English, because the first one sounds alittle redundant with using two あと's

彼はパンを盗んだけど、少し後でパン屋さんに捕まってしまいました

kare wa pan o nusunda kedo, sukoshi ato de pan-ya san ni tsukamatte shimamashita

or 彼はパンを盗もうとしたけど、少し後でパン屋さんに捕まってしまいました (kare wa pan o nusumou to shita kedo sukoshi ato de pan-ya san ni tsukamatte shimaimashita) "He tried stealing the bread but was caught alittle while later by the shopkeeper"

The meaning of -no wa and -no ga depend on the use.

'no' usually acts as a substitute for something, such as 'koto', 'tokoro', 'hito','toki', 'riyuu'

スポーツするのが好き

I like doing sports

Here the の is the same thing as こと,

店に行ったのは田中さんでした

The person who went to the store was Tanaka

Here の is acting the same as 人

会ったのは昨日でした

The day I met him was yesterday

Here の is the same thing as time

-te hoshii is like -tai only you use it on other people, ie "I want you to X'. In some uses it might be a abit feminine

It's almost Christmas I want to send a card to my Japanese family. Could I trouble someone to translate this for me please??

I'm very happy to be able to spend Christmas with family Shinoda. Even though I'm not with the family, my heart is always in Japan. Thank you for welcoming me so warmly. Next year I wish to spend Christmas in Japan. Maybe it will be a white Christmas. I really want to say "I'm home". Please stay healthy! Merry Christmas and a have a happy new year!
