The Korean Cultural Centre is delighted to present Korean Film 08, which is in its third year. It has been incredibly successful over the last two years attracting people all over the UK who are keen to watch some Korean cinema.

Since the festival met unprecedented success at the Barbican Centre last year, it made perfect sense to return to this world -class venue situated in the heart of London. Like last year we have a superb programme giving the public a rare opportunity to watch some of the latest Korean feature films, animations and classics on the big screen.

The festival kicks off with a big bang with Kim Ji-woon’s (The Tale of Two Sisters, A Bittersweet Life) latest The Good, The Bad, The Weird being screened and Kim Ji-woon will be present for to introduce the film. We also have other recent films on show including the big hits, Public Enemy Returns and Forever The Moment – both of which are UK premieres. It wouldn’t be a Korean Film Festival without some rare classics, so Korean Film 08 is a unique opportunity to watch some of the greatest Korean films of all time - The Housemaid and The Aimless Bullett (Olbaton). And it doesn’t stop there! There is also a Lee Chang-dong retrospective with rare access to all his films and finally, but by no means least, there are some of the best Korean animations on show including Aachi & Sspak.

Like last year the Korean Film Festival also goes on the move; the festival moves from London to Liverpool – The European Capital of Culture 2008 - on 13 November for 3 days of screenings, which includes The Good, The Bad, The Weird and Seven Days. This has only been made possible with the help of FACT (Foundation of ART & Creative Technology) who have a superb venue in the heart of Liverpool.

The Good, The Bad, The Weird

Kim Ji-woon’s wildly spectacular Kimchi Western is a mind blowing mash-up of influences, fusing Sergio Leone with Kurosawa, via Korea’s own brand of frantic shoot ‘em up action and frenetic comedy. Peppered with eye popping set pieces and draw dropping stunts, the plot tracks three very different outlaws, on the hunt for a lost treasure map in 1930’s Japanese controlled Manchuria. Forever the Moment

Attended the screening at AFI last night! It is amazing! Can't wait to see it again. You must see it in a theatre. Watching it on your computer or tv won't do it justice.

The audience gave it a good cheer at the conclusion of the movie......

SHG and Yoo Min ( the GF of Michael Jang and the tutor of IN Ha Kim in ALL IN) had a guesting in a Fuji TV show. I think the title is FUJI TV 구탄누보 (Gutannubo) shown last OCT 29, 2008. Nice to see them together. Sorry will have to find translations for that. They were speaking in Japanese and Korean. At the start during the intro, of course ALL IN was featured.

Song Hye Kyo Admits She Can’t Forget Her First Love

Korean star Song Hye Kyo has revealed her current love status during a recent program with Japan’s Fuji Television.

The Japanese reporter knew that Lee Byung Hun is a top Korean star and more importantly also the ex-boyfriend of Song Hye Kyo, therefore the reporter asked: “Viewers would really like to know your current love status, are you having a boyfriend now?” In response, Song Hye Kyo replied: “I do not have a boyfriend at the moment. Although I yearn to be in a love relationship freely, but as an artiste, it isn’t easy trying to strike a balance between work and love. Having a dinner seems like the only possibility even if I’m dating.”

When asked “What kind of moves or gestures from a man could make you feel the love?”, Song Hye Kyo said: “When two of us are having random chats and after some time he is still able to remember the details of the conversation.”

When asked “Your most unforgettable love?”, Song Hye Kyo opened her heart and said: “It’s my first love. I met him again after 2 years of break up and was really hurt when I saw him together with another woman.”

“Have you have the experience of patching up after breakup?” Song Hye Kyo said: “There are too many. There are many cases where I took the initiative to call for a patch up. Usually they would promise me that they will not make the same mistake again. But it was useless, we would break up again because of the same reason.”

As for the reason of the breakup, Song Hye Kyo said: “It can be a very minor thing or a small lie. A woman would want to know everything about her man. Although some things can be temporary covered up through lies, but it will pose a big problem in the future.”

When mentioned about her best friend and colleague, Lee Na Young, Song Hye Kyo said: “We met by chance during a commercial filming. Maybe it is because she was already in this industry since young, she was very eloquent and we became close just after a while.”

She laughed and said: “I do not like younger sisters because I have to pay for everything. So a 3 years older sister like Lee Na Young is better.”

이병헌은 2000년대 한국영화의 비약적인 발전과 현주소를 주제로 한 다큐멘터리에서 한국의 대표 배우로 소개됨과 아울러 집중 인터뷰 대상으로 다뤄질 계획이다.

이를 위해 디스커버리 제작진은 10월31일 오후 서울 강남 모처에서 이병헌을 만나 비공개로 인터뷰를 가졌다. 2시간여에 걸쳐 진행된 인터뷰에서 이병헌은 1000만 관객 시대를 맞은 한국영화의 부흥기부터 아시아 전역으로 확산된 한류 열풍, 국내 배우들의 할리우드 도전기까지 자신의 생각과 입장 그리고 향후 포부를 밝힌 것으로 알려졌다.

이병헌의 한 측근은 2일 이 같은 사실을 확인하면서 “흥행과 작품성 면에서 고루 인정을 받은 작품들과 한류 열풍 그리고 할리우드 진출에 이르기까지 한국영화와 한국 배우의 모든 것을 집약해서 보여줄 수 있는 사람이 이병헌이라는 디스커버리 제작진의 설명에 흔쾌히 인터뷰에 응했다”고 밝혔다. 이어 “이번 다큐멘터리가 국내를 비롯해 일본, 중국, 동남아 등을 한 데 묶은 디스커버리 아시아에서 우선적으로 연내 선보일 것으로 알고 있다”고 말했다.

세계적인 다큐멘터리 채널인 디스커버리가 한국 배우를 집중 조명하기는 사실상 이번이 처음. 뉴스 채널인 CNN의 경우 아시아의 유명 인사를 주로 초대하는 ‘토크 아시아’(Talk Asia)를 통해 배우 장동건과 전도연, 가수 비 등을 소개한 바 있다. 얼마 전 영화 ‘좋은 놈, 나쁜 놈, 이상한 놈’을 통해 건재함을 과시한 이병헌은 내년 개봉되는 할리우드 작품들을 통해 한류 스타에서 글로벌 스타로 도약을 예고했다.

액션 블록버스터인 ‘G.I.조’와 조시 하트넷, 기무라 타쿠야와 공동 주연한 ‘나는 비와 함께 간다’(I come with the rain)가 그 무대다.

한편 이병헌은 내년 1월 본격 촬영에 들어가는 대작 드라마 ‘아이리스’ 준비에 한창이다.

Personally, I'm surprised to read this too. I truly wonder who she is/was.

If the time frame was indicated (by the article) correctly.. there was a period around 2006 that LBH's former agency seriously refuted (to the extend of a lawsuit) a rumor that was started by a Japanese magazine to boost sales. But who knows.. he is being discreet these days and he also doesn't talk about the past.

As whoever makes him happy, she will be fine with us.. we only wish him the best and nothing less.

Why are you asking me this question, Mona? It wasn't specifically indicated.. the person or the year.. could be about LBH, could be someone else.

Sigh.. please let's not assume that rubie knows everything. Didn't I write that I'm surprised as well.. .. we certainly did not get any hints from BH (about a new girlfriend or someone he's with) if it was indeed him mentioned by his ex.

We just have to open-minded and wary at the same where articles such as these appear, some translation could (un)intentionally misled the readers.

In the program(-scene),LBH will introduce his private photos and speak openly about his view of marriage .
