Synopsis

19 years ago, two previously divorced people got married and raised their children together. But the three children grew up to adopt different lifestyles and values from their parents.

Hwang’s divorce sets off a series of unfortunate events that take her family on a roller coaster ride of ups and downs...

This TV series is about the relationships between parents and children, and brothers and sisters. It touches upon subjects such as romance, marriage, divorce, unemployment, illnesses, dreams, disappointment, hope, courage and so on. The story follows the tumultuous events surrounding one family as the deal with the tribulations of life.

Lee Hwang, eldest daughter (actress Moon So-ri)

Married for five years. A designer of book covers.

Having sophisticated looks and a firm, supple body, she is an egoist who is self-absorbed and cares more about herself than her own daughter. She has a fiery temper and acts impulsively, displaying erratic behavior. She gets involved in an affair in the very first episode of the TV series. The affair takes place when she participates at the Tokyo Book Fair and meets an old flame.

Yoo Tae-il (actor Lee Jong-won)

Lee Hwang’s husband. He was smitten in love with Lee Hwang when he first laid his eyes on her in college and asked her out on a date. After he married her, Lee Hwang gave birth to a baby girl and they lived happily together as one family. He is well educated and has a competitive streak. He thinks things through without letting his emotions cloud his judgment. He never experienced a failure in his life before but after getting married, he faces a huge setback that takes an emotional and personal toll on him.

Lee Geum, second daughter (actress Lee So-yeon)

Daughter of Bok Mi-ja. When she was 11, her mother married her current stepfather.

She gets along with Ki, who is younger than her, but she has a strained relationship with her sister, Hwang.

Though she was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia, she keeps working as a high school track coach to pay the medical bill of her biological father. She dates Koh Gyeong-woo, the son of the school director.

Koh Gyeong-woo (actor Shin Seong-rok)

With handsome looks, he wears the latest fashion trends. He is a smart guy who has a promising career producing TV shows at a major network. His early success has made him into a conceited person who thinks he is better than everyone else. Because he has no compassion nor hardly cares about the well-being of other people, he doesn’t treat Geum, who is stricken with a disease, any different from a healthy person even though he is aware that she is seriously ill. Somehow this endears him to Geum.

Lee Ki, last child (actor Jin Lee-han)

Last son of Lee Man-ae. After graduating from medical school, he quits his internship and starts taking acting classes to become a musical actor. He is a high achiever who always wants to be the best at whatever he does. He’s smart, athletic and has a well-rounded personality with a bright outlook on life.

Casting roll call: Iljimae, Triple

Lee Seung-gi has left the cast of MBC’s upcoming Iljimae, only to be replaced by... Jung Il-woo?

On July 9, his management issued the reason: “Because Iljimae kept being pushed back and will film in China for a month, it will add difficulty to his shooting for 1 Night 2 Days. His departure from the drama was achieved through mutual agreement on both sides.”

Now the two Iljimae leads will be played by Jung Il-woo and Yoon Jin-seo (Beastie Boys), which MBC plans to air in November.

I call BS, since he seemed willing enough to leave 1 Night 2 Days (which is, after all, merely a stint on a variety program versus headlining his own big-name drama) before SBS’s Iljimae came out starring Lee Junki. Perhaps they’d held out hope that SBS’s drama would flop and are now using 1 Night as their excuse to back out. MBC’s drama, directed by Goong PD Hwang In-roi, had originally boasted an advantage over SBS, securing the licensing rights to the books upon which the story of Iljimae is based, but now it’ll face an uphill battle trailing such successful competition.

That means Jung Il-woo will leave his role in MBC’s upcoming ice-skating drama Triple, directed by Coffee Prince PD Lee Yoon-jung and co-starring “luxury nose” possessor and rookie singer Min Hyo-rin (he as a speed-skater, she as a figure-skater). Triple has now been pushed back to next year.

And… I no longer care to watch Iljimae. I’d been hoping that MBC’s version would provide an interesting variation, particularly since I didn’t love the SBS version. And yet, while I would happily watch Jung Il-woo in a cast of young trendy actors doing a fluffy ice-skating drama, I really don’t think he’s gonna be able to pull off a sageuk hero.

In other casting news, Moon Sori (Legend, Forever the Moment) has been selected to lead MBC’s new weekend family drama Golden Years of My Life, also starring Lee So-yeon (Why Did You Come To Our House?). The drama is drawing attention with its writer-director combo: Surgeon Bong Dal-hee writer Lee Jung-seok Lee Jung-sun and Trap of Youth PD Kwan Rok-eui Jung Se-ho. It follows the currently airing Woman of Matchless Beauty, Park Jung-geum.

Meanwhile, Seo Hyo-rim (little sis from Insoon is Pretty) has been cast with Song Hye-gyo and Hyun Bin in their upcoming KBS2 series The World They Live In, directed by Full House (and Insoon) PD Pyo Min-soo. The drama starts filming at the end of July and plans to air in November.

Finally, Moon Jung-hee, currently in SBS’s Friday drama My Sweet Seoul, has lined up her next project as SBS’s new morning drama Daughter-in-Law and Daughter-in-Law, to follow Aquarius. She’s the daughter-in-law who works through issues with the new in-laws in this “warm” family drama, starting July 21.

오는 8월 30일 첫 방영하는 [천하일색 박정금] 후속의 [내인생의 황.금.기.](이정선 극본, 정세호 연출)의 주인공 문소리가 짜릿한 첫사랑과의 키스 씬으로 50부작 대장정의 본격적인 촬영 시작을 알렸다.

[내인생의 황.금.기.]에서 2녀 1남의 맏딸 이황으로 분하는 문소리는 이번 작품이 사전 제작 대작 [태왕사신기]를 제외하고는 첫 드라마 출연작이기도 하다. 문소리가 연기하는 이황은 북 디자이너. 결혼했음에도 때로는 자신을 더 사랑하는 이기적인 면모도 갖고 있다.

왕 내숭에 우아를 떨기도 하고 시어머니에게 할말 다하고 덤비는 왕 싸가지 면모도 갖고 있다. 문소리의 이번 드라마 첫 촬영은 지난 8일부터 태국 방콕과 파타야 일대에서 4박 5일간 이뤄졌다.

극중 이황은 북 디자이너 답게 태국 방콕에서 열리는 북 전시회겸 세미나에 참석하는 상황이다. 여기서 그는 자투리 밤 시간을 통해 첫사랑 동환(이태곤)을 만나 격정적인 밤을 보내게 된다. 이태곤은 정세호 PD의 전작 [겨울새]의 주인공으로 맺은 인연 때문에 문소리의 첫사랑 동환으로 우정출연했다.

이황 역 문소리의 첫사랑에 대한 과감하고 솔직한 감정은 키스에 먼저 대시하는 모습에서도 나타났다. 문소리와 이태곤의 첫 키스는 파타야 한 호텔에서 4시간 동안 이뤄졌고 서로 어색함을 무릅쓰고 간신히 성공을 했다는 제작진의 귀띔이다. 문소리와 이태곤은 방콕의 카오산 로드, 파타야 풀장 등 멋진 풍광속에서 데이트를 하는 모습을 시원스럽게 촬영했다.

문소리는 극중에서 아이가 한명 있는 유부녀이기에 이같은 원나잇 스탠드는 자칫 충격적일 수 있는 부분. 사실 극중에서 따지고 보면 남편 유태일(이종원)의 외도가 원인을 제공한 것이지만 결국 이같은 문소리의 외도는 향후 이혼이라는 파국을 맞는 결정적 계기가 돼 드라마 전개의 중요한 초반 포인트가 될 예정이다.

하지만 제작진은 방송 시간대가 주말 오후 가족 시간대인 8시대 인점을 감안, 적절한 수위조절을 할 계획이다. 한편 문소리는 이번 본격적인 드라마 출연을 통해 시청자들에게 친숙한 대중성을 얻고 싶은 의지도 내비치고 있다. 문소리 측 관계자는 “그동안 여러 영화를 통해 문소리라는 배우가 가진 작품성 위주의 캐릭터 연기에서 외연을 확대해 대중성을 얻고 싶은 의지가 강하다”면서 “이번 작품을 기대해 달라”고 전했다.

[내인생의 황.금.기.]는 부모와 자식, 형제와 자매, 사랑과 결혼, 이혼과 실직, 투병과 극복, 꿈과 좌절, 희망과 용기 등 한 가족이 겪는 다양한 경험들을 통해 시청자들에게 공감대를 주고 같이 고민해 보자는 화두를 던져줄 것이다. 8월 30일 첫 방송.
