"on air" is playing on a chinese channel where i live, and they have mandarin voice overs so at first i thought ricky couldnt speak korean and just made mouth movements and someone would voice over for him in korean (i've seen a HK movie that did this for a white actor) but when i went online to watch "on air" with the original recordings i found that he's actually fluent in korean! very impressive.

he's good looking and everything, but he should do something about his skin.. i checked out his myspace and it looks legit, like it's really HIM and not a fan.. but his about me sounds weird (as in him not the authenticity of the blog)

공 중파에서만 패밀리들이 놀러 다니는 건 아니다. MBC every1 <가족이 필요해> 시즌3에서 만난 아빠 최양락, 첫째 이성진, 둘째 리키 김, 막내 정진운, 이렇게 네 가족도 부천의 한 실내 스파로 가족 나들이를 나왔다. 물에서 노는 게 그렇게 좋은지 아들 셋은 쉬지 않고 다른 일반인 꼬마 아이들과 물장난을 하고, 아빠는 물에 살짝 발만 담근 채 흐뭇한 얼굴로 구경하고 있다. 같이 놀기에는 체력적으로 부담스러운 걸까 싶은데 세 손가락에 감긴 반창고가 눈에 띈다.

“워낙 피부가 약하세요. 알레르기도 쉽게 생기고. 그래서 원래 물에 잘 안 들어가는데 오늘은 아들들 때문에 같이 들어가서 놀다가 어디서 그랬는지 모르게 손가락을 긁히셨네요.” 메인 작가가 살짝 귀띔해준다. 말을 듣고 보니 티셔츠와 반바지 바깥으로 나온 아빠의 팔과 다리가 유독 희고 연약해 보인다. 아빠가 하염없이 아들들 노는 걸 보고 있을 때, 풍선 막대로 수면을 두들기며 꼬마들을 겁주던 철없는 세 아들들은 이제 가위 바위 보로 진사람 머리 때리기를 하기 시작한다. 풍선 막대로 머리를 때릴 때마다 소리는 팡팡 터지고, 맞는 사람이나 때리는 사람이나 웃음도 쾅쾅 터지니 이번 녹화는 성공이다. 한참 놀던 첫째가 그제야 아빠 생각이 났는지 돌아보자 아빠는 하염없이 자상한 얼굴로 말한다. “더 놀아, 더 놀아.” 바로 이런 훈훈한 경험을 위해 가족이 필요한 거다.

오늘 현장의 한 마디 : “몸매 잘 나온 걸로 올려주세요.”

여러 물놀이 시설을 오가면서 방송 분량을 만들어가는 와중에도 여성 작가들의 목표는 단 하나, 리키 김의 티셔츠를 벗기는 것이었다. 본인에게 직접 말하진 못하고 고참 스태프에게 계속 압박을 넣던 그녀들은 결국 소원성취를 했으니, 큰형과의 수영대결을 위해 리키 김이 웃통을 드러낸 것. 군살 없이 매끈한 몸매를 보니 왜 그런 바람을 가졌을지 고개가 끄덕여지는데 촬영을 잠시 쉬는 사이 리키 김이 <10 아시아> 사진기자를 향해 오더니 묻는다. “사진 잘 나왔어요?” 자신이 찍힌 모습을 보며 흐뭇해하던 그는 근육에 힘을 주는 자세를 장난스레 취하더니 “몸매 잘 나온 걸로 올려주세요”라고 말한다. 잘생기고 몸매 좋고 친절하고 심지어 한국말도 정말 잘 하는 이 외국인 훈남의 부탁을 어떻게 외면할 수 있을까.

Weirdest thing happened to me.

I had a dream about him. And I didn't even know what his name was, or who he was. But then I've only seen him on Gold Miss show, and faintly I could remember him being on that show... and after hours of searching, I find out who he is and that his name is Ricky Neely.

And that dream was ... so... I don't know. He was wearing a red shirt and he lifted me up while I was dancing to Soulja Boy....

Okay, I never knew how stupid that sounded until now...... but this is so weird. The weirdest thing was, that I got a feeling I was going to meet him and he was 'the one'. And I know it is him because he had the same smile and face and everything, and I didn't even know who he was until 2 hours ago!!!!

American-born actor Ricky Kim, who performed in last year’s “On Air”, had a familiar rather than strange appearance, and today foreign actors can be found in several shows.

After appearing in “On Air” and becoming very popular, Ricky Kim will appear on the MBC show “Heading to the Ground” (맨땅에 헤딩) beginning September 9th.

On 4th May, Ricky Kim became a newly wed with musical actress Ryu Seung Joo. He will be co-starring with TVXQ's Yunho (U-know) in "Heading To The Ground" as the English player Maxim, in the Pro-soccer Team [FC IN YOU].

This is Ricky Kim's first participation in dramas in 1 year and 4 months after he completed SBS' "On Air" last year in May.

Ricky Kim to become a father in February

Actor Ricky Kim has revealed that he’ll be a father!

Kim married musical actress Ryu Seung Joo back in 2009, and the couple was blessed with news of their first pregnancy. The baby is expected to be born next month, and both the parents are said to be in great condition and prepared for their next phase of their life.

Kim commented, “I’m still so young, but being able to be a father feels just like a dream. I’ve always dreamed of starting a family and becoming a father, but to have that dream realized is really amazing. I put my hand on my wife’s belly and try to communicate with the child. The child sometimes even kicks me with his foot, it’s very cool.”

When asked what ‘tae-myung’ (a temporary name given to a child before their birth) they chose, he replied, “The baby is a gift from the sky, so we call the baby ‘Sky.’ My wife is taking a break from her career and focusing on prenatal education. What’s cool is that my brother’s child is expected to be born on the same date as us.”

Ricky Kim is currently filming for KBS’s “Dream Team“, as well as various other dramas.

Ricky Kim is a father!

Earlier, we reported that American-born actor Ricky Kim is was going to be a father in February, and on February 10th, he announced on Twitter that his wife, the music actress Ryu Seung Joo, has recently given birth to a baby girl.

The actor is currently a castmember on KBS’s Dream Team and is well-known for his roles in Athena, Heading to the Ground and D-War.

Actor lends voice to save NK detainees

Having played the part of a North Korean defector on the big screen, actor Cha In-pyo is now raising his voice to press China to end its policy of repatriating refugees attempting to flee their Stalinist homeland.

Cha, the star of the 2008 film “Crossing,” which highlighted hardships faced by defectors, held a press conference earlier this week with other entertainers amid concern over dozens of North Koreans whose repatriation by Beijing was feared imminent.

Working to save such people “is a matter conscience, not just diplomacy or ideology,” Cha said, adding Beijing should “give the defectors the chance…to love and to live.” The case of the detainees, who have been held since early this month has garnered attention among a wide swath of society and the international community due to the North’s reported harsh punishment of those who attempt to defect.

Beijing repatriates North Korean refugees under a deal made with Pyongyang, its ally. Human rights activists say those repatriated face harsh punishment including torture and imprisonment in labor camps.

The North Koreans were arrested in three groups, according to lawmaker Park Sun-young. Groups of nine and 10 were detained Feb. 8 and a group of five two days later, the lawmaker said. The group of 10 was arrested by Chinese police at a bus terminal in the northeastern hinese city of Shenyang on Feb. 8. They had planned to travel to South Korea to unite with family members.

In the film, Crossing, Cha played the role of a North Korean father who crossed the border to buy medicine for his sick wife, only to learn of the grave dangers faced by refugees in China and hardships in the South.

Cha has become an advocate for the defector community, supporting the Yeomyung School for youth defectors in Seoul.
