These are the must-watch K-dramas picked by K-netizens

K-dramas have been gaining global popularity lately with the help of various OTT services, such as Netflix. Korean dramas did appeal to the global audience even a few years back, but with easier access, K-drama has been able to spread to a broader market of viewers.

Unlike American series, which long for multiple seasons, K-dramas boast fast story development, and the series usually end with just one season. Thanks to this, viewers are offered an endless list of dramas with various stories and different genres that they can watch. At times, it might be difficult to navigate through the long list of dramas, and recommendations would often help shorten the list.

So, K-netizens listed some of the must-see dramas that international viewers should watch. So here is the list of K-dramas recommended by K-netizens.

Healing, Heartache, And Lots Of Love: 4 Fall Dramas Like “If You Wish Upon Me”

dummy.jpeg?s=900x600&e=t

How time flies! It feels like the start of summer was only yesterday, but “If You Wish Upon Me” has already come to an end. Fear not though! Here are a few similar dramas lined up with healing, a minor dash of heartache, and as always, a whole lot of love!

3. “Jirisan

jirisan.jpg

Seo Yi Kang (Jun Ji Hyun) is the best ranger at Jirisan National Park. She knows every nook and cranny of the mountain range and has a great respect for its beauty and danger. Enter Kang Hyun Jo (Joo Ji Hoon), a newbie ranger and former military captain whose reserved air hides an eerie secret. Yi Kang is partnered with Hyun Jo, but as she teaches the new ranger the ropes, she comes to realize that all is not what it seems with him and with the mountain itself. When people start to disappear on Mount Jiri, somehow only Hyun Jo seems to know who will vanish next and how. When tragedy strikes, Yi Kang has to race against time to solve the mystery of Mount Jiri before she and Hyun Jo become its next victims.

Why you’ll love it: At first glance, “Jirisan” may not seem like a healing drama, but it combines both nature, man, and a force in between to create a slow-burn compelling story of a mountain and the inhabitants of the small town that lives in its shadow. Yi Kang is as much a wish-granter as the rest of Team Genie, only the wishes she and her team grant are dire: to rescue others before they come to harm. It’s hard not to fall in love with this drama as seasons change on the mountaintop. And if you needed further convincing, Sung Dong Il heads the rangers in this drama too!

It has been confirmed that top actors Ha Jung-woo and Ju Ji-hoon will star in the Tving entertainment series titled “Bros on Foot.”

The local streaming service announced Wednesday that its upcoming show will be available in the first half of 2023.

Aside from the two veteran actors, young stars Yeo Jin-goo and Choi Min-ho, widely known as Minho of K-pop boy group SHINee, are also part of the main cast.

The four actors will be challenged with mysterious missions and quests on their journey abroad. When asked whether the show will be shot in a walkathon format, a Tving official said it could not provide further details.

“The content creators and staff are still in talks about who will be given a chance to participate and how many episodes the series will have," the official told The Korea Herald. Young people will be invited to participate in the project, giving those who have not been able to travel freely during the pandemic a chance to go abroad.

“Bros on Foot” will be Ha’s first unscripted show. The actor has not hosted any variety programs since his debut in the 2003 romance film “Madeleine.” It will also be the first time for Ju, who debuted in SBS sitcom “Apgujeong House” (2004).

One of the highly anticipated Tving titles of 2023, “Bros on Foot” will be created by production company Studio Gaon, which was behind Netflix’s “Busted!” series (2018-2021) and Disney+'s “The Zone: Survival Mission,” and TV director Lee Se-young of the hit SBS show “Master in the House.”

Joo Ji Hoon’s Upcoming Crime Film “Gentleman” Reveals Premiere Date With Charismatic Poster

Joo Ji Hoon is coming to the big screen soon with his new movie “Gentleman”!

“Gentleman” is an entertaining crime film in which Ji Hyun Soo (Joo Ji Hoon), the owner of a private detective agency with a 100 percent success rate, pretends to be a prosecutor to find his missing client and goes on a journey of pursuing the bad guys without regard for legal or illegal means. The movie is expected to convey the thrill of seeing evil people being punished as Ji Hyun Soo fearlessly faces them in his chase.

After his performance in the hugely successful movie series “Along With the Gods,” which attracted 10 million moviegoers, and the globally acclaimed drama “Kingdom,” Joo Ji Hoon’s new portrayal of Ji Hyun Soo is anticipated to deliver another legendary character.

In addition, Park Sung Woong, who is famous for his unrivaled charisma and aura in playing the villain in various films such as “New World” and “The Swindlers,” will be joining the movie as chaebol Kwon Do Hoon, a prosecutor-turned-CEO of a major law firm who despite his sophisticated and well-mannered appearance hides a corrupted and evil mind.

Finally, actress Choi Sung Eun, who made her debut with the movie “Start-Up” and excelled in her lead role in the drama “The Sound of Magic,” is expected to immerse herself into Kim Hwa Jin, a tenacious prosecutor famous for being the crazy one in the Ministry of Supervision.

The upcoming movie’s first poster captures Joo Ji Hoon charismatically posing with a puppy against the backdrop reminiscent of an advertisement for his detective agency with the writings on the top right offering his services, “Collecting Information, All Categories.”

Various example categories are also listed on his left: company issues, marital issues, financial issues, and personal issues. Written at the center of the poster is a refreshing message heralding the catharsis viewers can expect from Joo Ji Hoon’s provocative yet humorous character, “Is manner needed when catching the bad guys?”
