  1. HAHAHAHA. What the heck. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

    Wow, that was...

Even the title is a non sequitur. "Why Oh Soo Jae?" What does that mean? WHY ANYTHING?

Stuff I enjoyed from the finale.

    Chairman Han

Lee Gyeong-yeong (Chairman Han) saying, "I'm an honest person, not sitting in a wheelchair pretending to be sick!" This seems like a direct parody of his role in "Stranger" where he shows up at the prosecutor's office sitting in a wheelchair saying, "I'm very sick!" HAHA, yes, that was funny. Btw, he plays a Rich Bad Guy. (The difference, of course, is that show was very well-written and this was not.)

Actor Lee Gyeong-yeong is in so many dramas, including "Doctor Lawyer" which aired at the same time as "Oh Soo Jae" playing almost exactly the same role - take a guess, a Rich Bad Guy! - and he was also in "Again My Life," and he will also be in "Adamas" with Ji Sung. Playing another Rich Bad Guy? It's seriously ridiculous.

Lee Gyeong-yeong is in so many dramas that the Korean media have nicknamed him "또경영." (Again Gyeong-yeong) At this point, it's a relief when he's not in a drama. Dude, take a break.

    Shrimp Crackers

Chairman Choi chomping down on shrimp crackers to help his suicide pills go down easier. HAHAHA, that made me want shrimp crackers! Weirdest PPL ever?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saeukkang

These are yummy. I recommend them when you're feeling snacky.

Okay, so this guy was shown committing murder TWICE on TV. So why aren't there police officers busting his door down to arrest him? Instead, they give him plenty of time to get a shave and a haircut and leisurely commit suicide on his own terms evading justice. What the heck.

And his son Ju-wan yelling during live broadcast - "No, we killed her!" Wow, worst lawyer ever. Also, why is he saying anything? Is he even a part of this hearing? And why doesn't he and his clown a-hole friends get arrested for gang-rape and attempted murder?

I guess that's it. I still love Seo Hyeon Jin and she had a few good moments. Bad dramas can happen to good actors. That is definitely what happened here. Oh well.

  2. I began watching Yumi's Cells less than 1 month ago. I just finished S2, Episode 7 now. (Hope I can catch up before this Friday!)

I have read some spoilers, enough to know the following after Ep.7:

    • Yumi breaks up with Babi
    • Yumi meets Woong again, and he has become successful
    • Yumi and Babi reunite, and Babi proposed to Yumi

    Just some thoughts:

    Team Woong or Team Babi?

When Yumi was with Woogi, he treated her as a doormat and she let him. Her Love Cell was dominant, and she always put her current boyfriend as her #1 priority.

    Team Woong?

When she was coming close to breaking up with Woong, she finally learned to make herself #1 above the boyfriend. Conversely, at around the same time, Woong's #1 became Yumi. All his life, Woong's #1 priority was always himself. For the first time in his life, his girlfriend became more important than himself.

And having just seen Season 1, I really do love Yumi and Woong together. He geniunely loves her, he is a good person, and she really seemed to be comfortable and be 100% herself with him.

We find out in Season 2 that Woong's breakup with Yumi was a bit of noble idiocy - he didn't want to share his career struggles with her because he didn't want to burden her.

Obviously, it can be argued that it was a mistake, that couples should share all their struggles together, and the fact that he didn't was hurtful to Yumi and the cause of the end of their relationship.

But on the other hand, if Yumi stayed with Woong, she probably would have never quit her job and never pursued writing full time.

    Team Babi?

Babi really seems to be a good person, and he really loves Yumi. He was also the first to recognize her writing talent, and he fully supports her dreams. They can connect via their shared interests in a way that Yumi cannot with Woong.

I know that Yumi broke up with Babi sometime after Ep.7. I'd have to get there to know how I feel about it, but I am going to assume that it was because Yumi put herself and her needs first. She learned to not settle for anything that doesn't feel right. If that's the case, then I will probably be okay with with her decision.

I haven't read the original webtoon. But based on what I've seen so far, I think the entire story is a journey of a woman learning her self-worth and pursuing both romance and her own life goals on her own terms. Each boyfriend, each relationship teaches her something valuable and she grows each time. The two boyfriends we've gotten to know well - Woong and Babi - are both decent men who loved her very much, and they each gave her valuable experiences.

So, Team Yumi. (Can't wait until this Friday!)

    --

One last note: I'm sure this was covered before, but Yumi's boyfriend who dumped her - his name is: Ji Woogi (지우기). And Shinee's Minho is Chae Woogi (채우기), the good friend who fixed her up with Woong.

Ji Woogi (지우기 = eraser, to erase)

Chae Woogi (채우기 = to fill-up, to satisfy)

So the jerk ex-bf is someone who deserves to be "erased" from her life, and the good friend from work is the one who helped "fill her up" by introducing her to a nice guy. Clever.

  3. That was so profound. Overwhelming, really.

Ultimately, there was no declarative "I am sorry," nor "I love you."

But she did enough. She defended her son against her Butthole stepson's insults. She admitted that her actions were that of a "crazy person" thereby acknowledging that she was wrong. She made him his favorite food as her last act on earth. She looked at him with tenderness and wonder as he wrote the words she wanted to know on the ferry window, while watching that video he made of himself while mountain climbing, and while meeting his girlfriend and her son - that look of adoration that he wanted all his life.

She did all that she could. If I had to identify what the problem was, I would say that she was profoundly depressed. Her husband and daughter's death broke her, and she never recovered. It's like when Dong-seok said to Seon-ah, "You can be sad, but don't be *just* sad like my mom."

But such analysis or trying to identify a reason feels useless to me now. Every moment of these last two episodes were painful not just because she was dying, but also mourning the fact that if only they'd reached out to each other earlier, they could have reconnected and enjoyed more of these times together. But that's just not how it happened. These two intensely stubborn people just couldn't get there emotionally.

And that’s the story. We can always say, “Obviously, so-and-so should do *this* to make their life better!” But this is a story about people who made choices that were different, that is how they lived their lives, and it is what it is.

I usually watch Netflix with Korean subtitles in order to improve my Korean. But I just re-watched that scene in Episode 19 where Ok-dong finally lets loose on Jong-wu with English subtitles, and felt the need to point these out:

Jong-wu called them "beggars,” not just "pitiful"

“We should be thankful that (Dong-seok) didn’t take it out on us or harm himself!” - She actually said, “We should be thankful that he didn’t take a knife to us or cut his own belly open!”

The English subtitles merely say "I took take of your sick mother for 15 years” and “your sick father like a slave for over 10 years.” What she actually said was: “I took care of your mother who couldn’t move at all for 15 years,” and “I changed your father’s poo-diapers for over 10 years.”

I’m not going to rewatch the whole thing just to point these things out. But wow, the English subtitles on Netflix are disappointing. In this particular scene, I think they really failed to convey the intensity and bitterness of her words.

Anyway, this was a great show. It was so special and unique. The emotions were just so profound and each story-arc punched me in the gut.

And it was pretty bonkers that both "Our Blues" and "My Liberation Notes" began airing on the same day. Two amazing masterpiece dramas both airing on weekends? That gave me such huge dilemmas deciding which I should watch first, and how was I supposed to get anything done on weekends? And how am I going to get over these huge voids these dramas have left behind? (Of course, saving one of them to watch later was not an option.)

So now that they are both over, I would describe "My Liberation Notes" as a glass of very good wine, and "Our Blues" as a soju bomb that hits you over the head.

Finally I finished this drama. Even though this is not my genre but I don’t know why I keep continue watching until the end.

Perhaps because I interested in the messages of this drama.

    1. That we should share kindness to people around us because of we would not know that they really need it.

    2. To not be too negative to people around. Positive vibes is a must.

    3. To be married for love

    4. To not give too much pressure to our children and just let them to be happy more.

    5. Say no to drugs

    6. That woman needs to work and be creative

    and more..

This is a very good drama <3 I love Eun Pyo character. Want to type more but my 2 yo son acrobating on my body. I am going to make him cry so he would sleep. Hahahha

I love that you got such positive vibes from the drama!

I do think all those messages are a part of this drama, too, aside from all the mystery and intrigue. And I also think they are all true - good messages to keep in mind.

  5. I cried so much when watching Eun-gi and the others praying to the 100 moons. The incredibly sweet and touching way the community came together once again to make a little magic for a little girl, the little girl crying her heart out for her dad to get better, and then of course, Chun-hee, crying for her last living child. Then you had Eun-hee and Ok-dong, who were crying and praying for Man-su and his family, but also crying and praying for themselves because they had both lost so much, too.

    :tears: (Ugh, I'm crying again.)

This is Ok-dong's character description (translation):

    http://program.tving.com/tvn/ourblues/3/Contents/Html?h_seq=2

    Kang Ok-dong

Mid 70s (age), she grows peppers, potatoes, perilla leaves, etc. on a small farm and sells it at a weekday market. Dong-seok's mom.

She speaks so little that other people may think she is mute (although she grumbles to herself a lot). Unsophisticated, so brusque that she appears to lack emotions, and all she does is work. She may appear gentle to others, but to Dong-seok, she is neither gentle nor affectionate.

Born in Mokpo, her parents worked on a boat and she lost them at age 10 when their house burned in a fire. She and her younger sister worked in restaurants or cleaned others' houses. (Her sister lived in Mokpo and died a few months ago from cancer. She called for Ok-dong so much as she was dying, but Ok-dong couldn't go because she doesn't know how to read or how to find her way around. And then she heard about her sister's death afterwards.) Neighbors introduced her to Dong-seok's father who was a laborer, so she married him and came to Jeju. Then her husband died in a storm.

After that, she dragged her daughter who was afraid of water into the ocean and they became "hanyeos" together. (Ok-dong was afraid, too. All she did before was farmwork.) Because they needed to make a living. But how can this happen? Her daughter lost her life in the ocean, too. Ok-dong wasn't scared of the ocean that killed her husband, but she began to hate the ocean that killed her daughter.

How can she survive now? How can she raise that rough boy Dong-seok? And that was when it happened. She no longer had the confidence to continue living. So when her husband's friend Park Seon-ju asked her to live with him, she impulsively agreed. Living with him meant that she would become a mistress, that she would have to take care of his sick wife who was almost a vegetable, that she would have to raise his kids like they were her own, and be accused of betraying her husband with his friend by the neighbors, but she didn't refuse. This way, she could raise Dong-seok and she didn't have to go into the ocean again. That was enough.

But her son Dong-seok keeps picking fights with her.

He says that his life is terrible because of his mother.

    Ok-dong did not care.

    ==

This is just a guess, but I think Ok-dong and Chun-hui conspired to make Dong-seok miss the ferry on purpose. To force him to spend quality time with her.

I also think despite all the snarling, vicious hostility that Dong-seok showed to his mom, there was a reason that he parks his truck near the spot where she sells her vegetables. He's angry and resentful, of course. But if you really hate someone, you do not choose to work every day parked 20 feet from the person you hate.

It's like how Ho-sik and In-gwon were angry at each other for years, but they lived upstairs-downstairs from each other. If you really hate someone, you don't choose to live that close to them.

  6. So, just a random tidbit: when GU-MI met again and Gu had to leave for his work and returned with a cut on his cheek, the song playing in the background was "Nevertheless" from the K-drama Nevertheless. The exact lyrics at that moment was:

너는 나쁜 사람이야 또 나쁜 사랑이야

    내 맘을 다 가져가고
    네 맘을 주진 않니

You are a bad person and this is a bad love
You took all of my heart
But you won't give me yours

I only watched 2 episodes of that drama but I really like this song, so I recognized it, and that was funny!

    ==

So, more random observation of K-youtubers:

    (1) Where did Gu go with the bag of money?

    - Many guess that he went to pay Hyeon-jin's gambling debts, because it looks like Hyeon-jin is sure to be murdered if that debt wasn't paid.

    - My guess is that he went to pay Chairman Shin because Hyeon-jin stole what should go to Chairman Shin, and he will kill both Gu and Hyeon-jin if he doesn't get his money.

    - Some guess that he will take that money and go underground with Mi-jeong

    - The final, funniest guess is that he goes to the Philippines to begin a criminal enterprise, which is apparently what happens in Son Seok-gu's movie, "Roundup 2"

This movie is apparently a big hit. GU-mania is raging in Korea.

    (2) Sam-sik

Gu always called him a bunch of other names - such as Chun-ja and Ok-ja, and even Yeom Mi-jeong - all female names. But when Gu finally called him by his changed name - Kim Wu-bin - he became so happy and energized.

We all liked Sam-sik and didn't want him to die. And he lived! And we knew that he would live because Gu called him by the right name. The goat who has a name is not killed and eaten.

Also, Kim Wu-bin is just funny because that is the name that the Grim Reaper chose in Goblin as his earth name: after being given a choice of WON BIN, HYEON BIN, and KIM WU-BIN. Apparently the real actor Kim Wu-bin was happy about this and wrote a thank you note to the writer. The name "KIM WU-BIN" just equals sexy and sophisticated! (The actor is not bad, as well.)

  7. More K-youtube observations:

    (1) Tae-hun in his final scenes. Tae-hun buttoning his coat wrong is not a sign of "people don't change," but a sign that people can change! Because we've always seen Tae-hun very buttoned-up and proper at all times. He's not the type to button his coat wrong. We've never seen him drunk, in fact. But in the final scene, he's very drunk, grinning like a fool, acting goofy and sweet because he was changed by Gi-jeong's love for him.

For him, it was deeply significant that he found the courage to tell her what was deep in his heart. He had kept it hidden, because he wants to not be seen as weak. But he opened up to her, and she accepted him and embraced him. Because she is the "receiving girl." Being loved and accepted does wonders for your soul.

    (2) Mi-jeong's "prophesies" come true. She told Gu that if he worshipped her, they will become different people by the spring. He asked her later, "Will we really be different?" She promised that they would.

It was like that scene in which she was working late at a bar/restaurant, and wished for him to come. He came, sat nearby, and drank a beer. And she thought to herself, "My wishes come true."

So by the end of the show, they both have changed, just like she promised.

    (3) What changed Mi-jeong wasn't that she was loved. What changed Mi-jeong was loving someone. So loving others and showing them grace is what will make you happy in the end.

    (4) Chang-hee began the show coveting material things. He ended the show dedicating his life to honoring those who are dying, therefore honoring the sanctity of life itself.

    (5) The Yeom siblings lived in the country all their lives, and that is why they are less jaded, and more in touch with humanity.

I feel CH is his most memorable role so far.  He has quite a range, I thought he excels in offbeat, slice of life.. much more impressive in serious dramatic roles.  His role in Because it's My First Life was unparallel.  I also read that Son Suk Ku and Lee Ki Woo expressed interests in playing CH.  However Park Hae Young casted LMK for the role. He was stellar, perfect casting.

Wow, I am just imagining those other two actors in the role of Chang-hee. LOL.

I think every actor was pretty perfect in their roles.

The one thing I really wanted but didn't get was the epic reunion between Chang-hee and Gu.

A few random observations from K-youtubers:

    (1) The reason this show resonates deeply with so many viewers is that the star of this show is YOU, the viewer. You can see yourself in these characters who are struggling with this world that can be full of carelessness and hatred.

    (2) The reason that we never got satisfying revenge towards the three jackazzes who made Mi-jeong angry every morning as soon as she woke from sleep - Team Leader Choi, Han Su-jin, and Chan-hyeok - because she made the proactive decision to not let her hatred control her life. When she helped save Chan-hyeok from being accused of sexual harassment, it wasn't because she was kind. But because she had decided to let go of the hatred. So revenge is no longer necessary.

    (3) Gi-jeong is the "pick up girl," but instead of the severed head of her man, she picked up the severed head of the rose. The rose is not dead, but it is fragile, and she nurtures it.

    (4) Gi-jeong cuts her hair, which is bit like beheading. (In Korean, the word for "head" and "hair" can be the same = 머리. Technically, hair is 머리카락, but a lot of people just say 머리 for short.) It's a symbol of sacrifice.

    (5) Another perspective: When Gi-jeong and Tae-hun first began dating, she said she will either shave her head or love anyone. Tae-hun offered to be her 'anyone.' But when she cut her hair, she was almost sort of shaving her head. So she was getting closer to breaking up with Tae-hun.

    (6) Gi-jeong speaks about such noble ideas about death, while Tae-hoon has such fearful attitudes about birth (anxiety about a child who will grow up to suffer). She is stronger, so she can support him emotionally. The love between them isn't just between man-woman but human-human. In fact, she even jokes that she will become a man.

  9. Chang-hee and Hyeon-ah:

Why did they break up? Hyeon-ah is a pretty damaged person who always dates problematic guys. She's always involved in a lot of drama in her relationships. And Chang-hee tells her, when he breaks up with her, that he intends to live a normal life running a convenience store, etc. I.e., he will not be one of those high-drama guys who she has screaming, throwing-stuff fights with. So that's why their relationship ended.

But after their breakup, he still rides his bike thinking about her, and suddenly stops, weeping violently because he misses her. And they still see each other, they still meet. They still know everything about each other, and I guess that's how it's going to be between them forever.

    Gi-jeong and Tae-hun:

People don't change. He's the same person who wants to be liberated from feeling weak. And he was so afraid to admit that he writes that in his liberation diary, then crosses it out. He likes Gi-jeong because she lets him be himself and lets him relax, to not try so hard. He can tell her that when he sees babies and toddlers, he is sad thinking about how their hearts will be broken when they are 30 years old. And she understands him.

His daughter and his sister Gyeong-seon are not going to magically become nicer towards Gi-jeong. But she is a part of their lives. When she skips church, they bicker about it with each other, and Gyeong-seon instinctively stops at a street stand that sells egg bread, because Gi-jeong once said she liked it, until they remind her that she is not with them.

Their unkind word hurts Gi-jeong. He buys her a broken rose. But she will soak that broken rose in a small dish because she is the one who catches the severed head, the one who sacrifices. She helpfully tells him he buttoned his coat wrong, and he is grateful he told her, has a goofy grin on his face, and then buttons his coat wrong again.

She is living the life that she chose with the man that she chose. And I guess that's enough for her.

    Mi-jeong and Gu:

She wanted to humiliate Chan-hyeok so she could let him know what a loser he is. Instead, she showed him grace, thereby achieving the same thing. Her generous act towards him helped him realize that he is the bad guy, and he promised to atone for it. She achieved liberation from him by showing grace.

So she advises Gu to smile widely towards the people that make him angry every morning when they come into his thoughts. Smile, forgive them, and show them grace.

I think that's why Ja-gyeong was able to forgive Hyeon-jin, who betrayed him in the worst way. He made up for that loss to Chairman Shin with the cash stash in his drawers. And I *believe* that he is done. My clue is when he confronted Hyeon-jin at the gambling den - he said, "I was living happily in the country, and you dragged me back here to pay for your gambling." So he really was happy in Sanpo. So that's why I think that's where he's going back. Not literally, but figuratively - with the final money bag handoff, he is done with this life.

And he should be furious with Hyeon-jin and chase him. But he forgave him, and let it go.

I'd like to think that that earlier flash-forward scene in which he walks out of the club with the screen blasting "Happy New Year 2022" is his final walk out of the club, after reimbursing Chairman Shin the money that Hyeon-jin stole.

The 500 won that he dropped, but ended up being balanced on the grill without falling in had a flying goose on it. That was the symbol of liberation. It could have fallen into the gutter, but by grace and luck, it was saved.

I think that's the sign that he moves forward and faces his demons without drinking. He gave his liquor bottle to a homeless person on the street. I think he's done. And he's figuratively walking towards Mi-jeong, backlit like an angel once again, telling him that she is full of nothing but love.

The wild dog MJ met on the hill - it can be likened to meeting Gu, as well. And it ran away.

I LOL'ed when she said to the dog, "You ungrateful RickRoll'D. I bought so many sausages for you." She's speaking to Gu: I gave you so much love and worship and you left me, you ungrateful RickRoll'D.

I like Gi-jeong, and I think she will be fine.

Think about her relationship with Jin-wu, her work superior. At first, she complained that he gave lottery tickets to every woman in the office except her. Then she confronted him directly, which was pretty cringe-inducing. He awkwardly bought her some tickets, treated her to a meal or drinks, and excused himself quickly afterwards, at which point she bluntly observed, "Wow, you have no romantic interest in me at all."

But somehow, their relationship grew to the point where we could see that he is charmed by her, feels invested in her life, and finds her words to be meaningful. And I think that's who she is. She has no filter, she's an open book. And at first, it's weird, but once you get to know her, you appreciate her. She's not perfect, but when she apologized to Tae-hoon and his sisters for talking smack about the kids of single dads, it was genuine.

So I think that she's going to be okay with Tae-hoon and his family. She has the ability to win people over and her bluntness and honesty can be charming.

Chang-hee has a very strange relationship with Hyeon-ah, but we root for them anyway. Despite the fact that they have relationships with others, they get each other on a fundamental level, and they know it in their bones that when one of them dies, the other will be there to hold vigil. It's a slow burn between them. But like, the slowest ever burn. I like it.

GU-MI couple. No more slow burn between them. These two are on fire, full on worshipping begins. It's hot.

I love it, of course, but I can't get over how much I really hate the Trash Couple and what they did to Mi-jeong. I was having revenge fantasies about Gu kicking their butts - but that wasn't really satisfying. Mi-jeong is fierce and can deal with her own problems, so here's to hoping that she dealt with them in some way. Yes, I'm not very mature. I can't let this go. And I'm sorry that she had to leave the Liberation Club. They were awesome! Maybe she still attends their meetings. After all, she probably keeps in touch with Tae-hoon in some way.

  11. Well, that really wasn't about the struggles of child-rearing at all, although they did touch on the fact that excessive pressure is not great for the kids. Great, thanks for that message. I'm sure it will make zero impression on the moms who really need to hear that, because none of these families are even close to normal. So all the attendant problems end up affecting their kids' lives negatively. (Let's see, abusive pervert stepfather, drug-dealer and gambling addict, and Eun-pyo. Well, I guess both of Su-in's parents are semi-sane, and she happens to be the most well-adjusted child.)

Eun-pyo may be the dumbest and nosiest character I've seen recently. She comes off as a concern-trolling and attention-hungry hypocrite. She just enjoys being the star of the K-drama playing in her own head. I guess she's a good frame to get the action on this show moving, but as a person - not very relatable. She doesn't seem to care about her husband or either of her kids, not if they interfere with her various s**t-stirring adventures. Dong-seok only gets better by spending time away from her.

And if she's going to obstruct justice by helping a criminal flee the country, then at least do it properly. Calling Chun-hee while her detective husband is in the house? Ha ha, come on.

And when confronting someone about possible murder/manslaughter, maybe you should not be in his house alone with him, at the site of the possible killing. Common sense, girl.

Anyway, I'm glad Chun-hee did her time and she is out. She really is the best character and the actress did a great job. Obviously she made a lot of bad choices in life, but her complexity and struggles were interesting to watch. And she wasn't annoying and whiny.

I really don't understand how her terrible husband never went to jail, but I guess she didn't tell anyone where she got her drugs. She may have decided that one of the parents needed to be not in jail so that her kids would be taken care of. Also, no one believed her, anyway, which was sad.

I guess I should care about what happened to Luis-Jinha-Rhea, but I don't. I feel terrible for Henri, but that's all. And Kim Gyuri did great playing two different people.

  12. No theories, just some thoughts about Yeom Mother from a K-youtuber (no English subtitles):

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbgarRJtNbw&ab_channel=Dramaqueen드라마퀸

    • Yeom Mother took care of all her children until the end.
    • Yeom Mother fed all her children. On her last day on earth, she fed her future son-in-law.
    • She paired all her kids with their mates. Her death led to Gi-jeong and Chang-hee both proposing. They realized that life is short, so they should not wait to be with their loved ones.
    • She called Gu back to Sanpo with the sweet potato stems that she used to make for him.

This youtuber felt upset and betrayed at first that Yeom Father remarried so quickly. But she realized that he probably remarried so that his kids would leave. He knew that they wouldn't leave him alone in this house, so that was his way of letting them go.

Thanks for sharing these here! Great to learn what the Koreans are picking up.

Another K-netz theory is the fingernail that Mi-jeong found near her desk. Mi-jeong remarked that it reminded her of a corpse. The nail probably belonged to Su-jin.

No one actually wants Su-jin dead, but it's foreshadowing that her life is going to hell. Because no moment on this show is wasted and everything means something.

    --

I do think Gu has a plan to knock down Chairman Shin and escape his living hell.

But I think Mi-jeong is the one who will ultimately save Gu.

Remember how lightning struck down the powerline near his house in Sanpo? And Mi-jeong ran through the rain to save him from being electrocuted? Or how he sat in the wild dog pit with sausages, inviting them to maul him? Mi-jeong was the one who screamed and ran towards the dogs, chasing them away.

She will let herself be taken advantage of. She doesn't fight back when people scam her out of money. But if someone attacks Gu, she becomes ferocious.

Also I need justice for MJ re her vile boss and the co-worker mistress.

Yes, I need justice for MJ!

    Choi Jun-ho = Team Leader, aka A-hole
Han Su-jin = Having an affair with A-hole

Now that we know Su-jin was having an affair with Choi, it makes Choi's abuse of Mi-jeong so much worse. So much more despicable than we ever realized. Remember when he loudly criticized her pants? Who cares about stuff like that? Su-jin would. So it's clear that they spent so much their time hating on her and finding ways to bully her. The fact that they even used Mi-jeong's name as an alias, and got people gossiping about how she was the mistress? These horrible disgusting trash people. And they got away with it. The HR department of this stupid company would not believe Mi-jeong and fired her instead.

The thing that really dismays me was when Su-jin asked MJ innocently, "Hey, do you know who Team Leader Choi is cheating with?" THIS B***H. And MJ gives her that same warrior staredown she gave to that wild dog. (Very appropriate, because she is a female dog.) Then Su-jin has the GALL to say, "I took care of you and this is how you repay me?" WHAT. THE... That is just some delusional BS.

Mi-jeong probably no longer cares about them, but I'd like to imagine that there was aftermath. Mi-jeong still has friends at this company. And Choi's wife is obviously concerned enough about her husband's affair that she even called Mi-jeong at work. I don't think she's going to keep quiet and do nothing. So I imagine slapping, water-throwing, hair-pulling, the whole K-drama treatment for slags. A full public shaming, please, if only just to clear Mi-jeong's name.

We will probably never see these people again, now that we've time-traveled to Fall 2021, the time of the newly reunited and loved-up GU-MI couple. So we must move on. But I'm still hoping that things went down for this trash couple.

Maybe one or both of them show up at the host bar, and they get a dose of Gu-treatment. Please give me all of this and more. I need satisfaction.

    --

So here are some theories from K-youtubers:

Mi-jeong's new phone number ends in 0303. We learn that her mother's birthdate is March 3rd - it is printed on her urn. Mi-jeong is honoring her mother with her new phone number.

The baby in the host bar is described as a "bird that flew into the building" by that lady at the bar Gu drinks at. Something that doesn't belong there. Gu Ja-gyeong is the baby, and the bird. He doesn't belong in this world.

Gu Ja-gyeong was shivering, waiting in the forest to meet Chairman Shin who is bird hunting. Chairman Shin will hunt Gu.

Gu knows that in order to escape this world, he will need to get rid of Chairman Shin. There is a reason that we see the club ledger and Gu notices that a large amount of money is unaccounted for. He will use the same method to knock out Chairman Shin that he used to knock out Baek. Report him to the police/prosecutor for tax evasion or drug dealing. It took him time to get ready and gather enough evidence, and he only called Mi-jeong when he was prepared to strike. Until then, he will play the loyal dog.

Ooof I still can't get Gu's "I want to eat you up and swallow you whole" I was creeped out but turned on at the same time oh dear I need help.:smirk::joy:

That's what she said to him, back on the farm. So he's echoing it back to her.

I think she said, "When I love something, I want to eat it up and swallow it whole." And he chuckled and said, "Now you will just say anything, huh?" Like, once she lets her guard down around him, she speaks her true impulse, and her true impulse = ANIMAL.

So that's him saying to her, "I still love you, too!"  Oh no, wait, "I still worship you, too."

I wrote a post talking about the animal instincts of the Yeom sisters, and wondered if Chang-hee had any animal instincts. So it was quite funny to me when he spoke those very words today - his animal instinct is for sensing when his loved ones are about to die.

The trip they took is quite melancholy. Because Chang-hee said, "Father, you still have the three of us." But we already know, not for long. They all leave the nest pretty soon after this. This is their last trip together.

    Ep. 14 : The Aftermath

That sucked that Mi Jung's a-hole of a boss with his side wench using her as a tool and a scapegoat for their affair. Ugh disgusting human beings. I just want to light them both in flames!! Infuriating ugh.

Yes, that really upset me. And not only are they having an affair, and using Mi-jeong's name, they had the GALL to play footsie during Yeom Mother's funeral. Disrespectful trash. I am still upset that they got away with it and even screwed MJ over...

... SO FAR. Two more episodes, and I want to see something happen.

    --

Okay, also just want to add this. You know how K-dramas often end with the OTP getting together at the last minute, with maybe a wedding, and the complaint always is that you never really get to see their lives together? You're just left to imagine it?

So I love that there are two more episodes left. Like, we are not done with this couple. They are about to go through some stuff, and we get to see them go through it together. I love that. I love that simply meeting again and smiling at each other is not the end.

So, a whole lot happened this weekend, with a lot of surprises. I cried so much, and it was all so good. But I felt like they were also winding up for finale weekend.

See you all next weekend, and let's celebrate liberation.

  16. I love the way that things worked out with Miran and Eun-hee. I actually liked that there wasn't some big revelation or essential change. They just talked it out and worked it out.

I also loved what In-gwon told Eun-hee, that she is the pillar. That she is loved and appreciated always. Everyone enjoys seeing Miran for a couple of days, but after that, she is too much. But Eun-hee is the person who everyone needs, all the time. I hate how In-gwon is violent and coarse, but he really is like the hidden sage of this island.

So Jeong-jun is the perfect man, huh? Kind, hot, loving, understanding, tall, and did I mention HOT?

Re MB and his over jealous, abusive wife - I didn’t expect it at all. It is nice to highlight that men can also be victims of domestic abuse since in Asia, it is not socially discussed or acknowledged. I hope we can get the back story.

I agree. It's just another example of how things are not what they seem on the outside. I'm glad Myeong-bo found the courage to leave.

  17. So many thoughts, but I'll just start with how *awful* A-hole Team Leader and his mistress are. I was really looking forward to seeing A-hole Team Leader punished or shamed in some way, but instead, Mi-jeong was fired instead. Ugh, so unfair.

I guess I'm relieved to see that we will never have to see these two A-holes again. But I definitely would not mind Gu running into them and giving them a scare. Because why not. All Mi-jeong would have to do it flick her finger in their direction and sic her loyal "dog."

I have no doubt that she found a better job. Hurray for Mi-jeong. Sometimes the best thing is to just leave the A-holes behind in the dust and live well. We don't always need to see them get roasted. Although that is also satisfying. *sigh*

I, too, agree that Gu needs to be "liberated" from his soul-crushing work as a "host bar" manager. But I think it's only going to happen when he brings Chairman Shin down somehow.

It was honestly SQUEEEEE when they finally met again. You could feel all their shyness and joy exploding all at once.

Gi-jeong proposed to Tae-hoon. Yay. And he said yes, let's do that. Yay. But apparently he wants to marry after his daughter goes to college? WHAT.

Chang-hee proposed to Hyeon-ah at the funeral parlor. While watching his mother being cremated. That is so Chang-hee.
