[[Drama 2012] Faith 신의]

I'm currently high on BM and Faith together with the other two Wed-Thur dramas belongs to my most expected list. Altogether I think it's a stellar pilot episode with a good mix of suspense, mystical and humor.

My thougths on episode 1:

1. I must say that I admire LMH choses everytime as his lead role a different kind of character, frankly, I always expect him to finally falter and be unconvincing but it never happens. After BOF I thought he would never get rid of that GJP label but in every role he gets better and his acting range widens. He truly carries this episode on his acting prowess completely and everytime he shows on screen you literally can feel it sizzle with intensity ^^ . However, I must say that I was pleasantly suprised by Lee Phillip's performance, I mean he is always stellar and carries that kind of charisma but today I felt he added something extra =D> . KHS was good, I can't compare with her other performances but I think she has potential to shine in this.
2. I love the music both the instrumental score and the song playing during the ending credits ( does anybody know the singer ?). One instrumental track reminds me of POTC soundtrack but still it suits the mood of the scene.
3. The real letdown is the editing. I didn't ecpext that since they're not in the live-shoots, yet, there should be enough time to edit it better. I would give it 70%.  

Observations and tidbits:

1. The height difference - If I were the king I would be suffering from a serious case of inferiorty complex. There is even the difference in the pitch of their voices. By the way, why is the king sitting on his royal posterior frozen by fear while his loyal warriors get slaughtered by the enemy [-X . Can't he fight?!
2. GENERAL CHOI IN 21st CENTURY !!! (Why couldn't you have landed in the central Europe? Why?!) I got spasms from the laughter watching it =)) . Even Rooftop Prince didn't nail it like that. General vs Seoul traffic - 1:0 \m/ , General vs modern Seoul natives - 1:1. Can you imagine that someone would mistake LMH for an extra?
3. I read before complaints that LMH is too young for a general and KHS too old for him but I like it just the way it is, actually it makes it more real. I'm fed up with all those dramas where actresses who are barely out of high school portray a fully attested doctor 8-|  whereas here in the real world you finish medicine at 25 years of age and then you spend 6 years slaving in a hospital doing your postgraduate certification so Yoo Eun Soo might actually become the first female protagonist of k-drama that looks the right age and genuine. I think CY's age is just right since the average life expectancy in 14th century was around 35 years :-B  (low hygiene, no vaccination, 99% of people lived in poverty slaving for the gentry) and soldiers even lower (wars, duels, wars,... I mean they were dying a lot) so it is only natural that generals were young.
4. I like that he doesn't think of her as some godly creature despite all the things he has seen during his stay, he tests her so he would bring a capable doctor, however, what I appreciate the most about him is that he isn't discouraged that she's a woman and choses her based on the demonstration of her skills. It's something to be admired when he comes from an age where women were thought to be unworthy of being respected healers and could serve only as midwives. It shows he's is open-minded and has brains not only the brawn >-
5. I love that he has supernatural powers, as well, he will need them against the deadly trio. I can't even decide when he looks hotter, swinging his sword or throwing the lightning =P~ .
6. GIRL, YOU'RE TRYING TO DO A RUNNER ON 15 CM HIGH STILLETOS FROM A GUY WHO CAN MAKE FROM THE WHOLE S.W.A.T. RAG DOLLS JUST BY THE WAVE OF HIS HAND @-) ?!! At least, take them off so we could suspend our disbelieve and really think you were trying to get away from him because I and a few of other people certainly wouldn't given the chance. 
7. He carried her over his shoulder across the whole Seoul!!! Hey, Choi Young, can I give you a call when the public transportation collapses again :-c ? Please say yes.
8. At the end my favourite shot. I LOVE THIS. They really have this sizzling chemistry :x .

[[Drama 2011] City Hunter 시티헌터]

@sunshine4ever: I watched this show live last year and I've been a complete CH addict ever since. It's on my best k-drama of all time list for sure. You are right the ending was a bit rushed but that's because just when they were shooting the last episode South Korea and particularly Seoul was hit by one of the most severe floods in the recent history it even made headlines in the central Europe where you can hear about South Korea only in relation with the conflict on Korean P.. So they needed to change the script because they couldn't shoot outside at all (another reason to reform the live shoots  X(  ) - look at the aftermath of the funeral or the airport scene and others it's all filmed inside. Actually, the original ending should be YS and NN opening a detective agency since the whole drama is supposed to be a prequel to the CH manga/anime story.

Yeah, me too =P~ . I first saw him in Legend as Cheoro and I immediately fell in love with the character. He looked great in the sageuk clothes, in the armour and those blue highlights in his long hair . Cheoro was my favourite character in the whole series and the only one I really cared about. :x His quiet love and devotion for Sujini without any hope of reciprociation that crossed space and time touched and broke my heart =((

I watched the last episode on livestream and I really like the way they squeezed so much of the important revelations in the first half of the episode, I'd thought they really don't make any fuss about it and went head on with it . Overall the episode was fast paced after few moderately paced episodes so it was great to see that they returned back to basics, so to say, which brought so many people to this drama.

It wasn't the best last episode of a k-drama that I've ever seen, however, I would still rate it among the better ones. I was plesantly suprised that the editing didn't lack in quality as it's so often in other last episodes.

Well, about my reaction to the confrontation between YS and JP: the moment JP and YS pointed their guns at each other I started screaming: They are going to kill him!! Please, don't kill him!! and then after YS was shot: That's straight in his heart!! He isn't wearing a bullet-proof vest!! That's fatal!! He's going to die!! and finally: He's dead!! He died!! How could they!!! How could they!!! They'd said it was a prequel!! How is it supposed to be prequel when they killed the City Hunter!!!

I'm used to the fact that the last episode is usually slightly longer (3-5 minutes) than the regular episodes so I was really suprised they didn't take advantage of it. I admit there weren't some of the loose end tied, however, altogether it is was satisfactory ending but I must admit that I can say that only after waiting 5 hours to write this post and calmed down all those mixed emotions I had just right after the episode ended.

The things I am, however, dissatisfied is the short reunion scene between YS and Nana. First I'd thought he's a ghost only she's seeing, then, when I came finally to the conclusion he is indeed real and they, me and their legions of fans would at last get the long awaited happy ending, there was this abrupt camera shot at YS driving through the night in Seoul , probably "hunting" and wearing the same clothes he had in the previous scene. I gathered the scene was at an airport and they're leaving to U.S.. NO touch NO embrace NO kiss!!! I mean they had still time so I don't understand why there was no kiss. I hadn't thought I would ever say this but I was hoping for at least one of those typical k-drama kisses that last half of a second you must zoom so you can check they lips are touching and the sun is shining in such an angle that you are lucky just to see the silhouettes (how low did i stoop ). I lowered my standards so much and still no gain I mean 30 seconds and one butterfly touch later they would have made thousands of OTP shippers world over blissfully happy and prevented outbursts of dissatisfaction . I think both LMH and PMY would survive, too, since they are professionals .

So the real question for me is this: Did he go with Nana to the States or did he stay behind being the City Hunter??? From all the informations we got I know it would be really difficult for him to stay as CH and not to be caught but the last shot is kind of misleading. But maybe it was used only for sentimental reason, you know, last shot belongs to the infamous City Hunter, the dark hero driving through the night.

P.s.: I saw 666 users here right after the episode ended. That must be on the level of Secret Garden, You're Beautiful and BOF!!!

My thoughts are exactly the same!!! If YS didn't wear the mask, he could just drive and even if YJ caught up to him, he wouldn't be wearing the dang mask and everything would be okay! RIGHT?! sighh but I guess the drama's more entertaining that way.

And yes.... Mr. Creeper is def a lot stronger than Ahjussi... I hope everything stays okay :/ 

I think the point isn't so much whether he was wearing a mask or not but the fact that YJ realized very soon that the false City Hunters were just a diversion and went to fetch his car because he knew that the real City Hunter's going to hand over the target 4, he saw him throwing the target out of the car ( even though it wasn't show on TV, however, that's the only explaination how he knew which car to follow) and followed him. YJ knew the CH was in the car with a mask or without it. The fact that YS had the mask on is only the cherry on the cake that makes the ending scene so exciting.

I don't think so. YS's headboard is completely black with the dividing glass above it. When I first saw the photo I'd also thought that we will get our "deserved" bed scene, however, after checking YS' bed my excitement faded away.

I am really deprived, right now. NO KISS SINCE EPISODE 9 !!! I'd been expecting the last four episode to be dark and depressing so I was hoping for a kiss in episode 16 even if it were a heartbreaking goodbye kiss to survive the upcoming angst but nothing happened .

6.. and as to why KH said he saved both YS and herself, i think it's because she was a hostess right.. maybe one night both her and the president made a mistake and she got pregnant, and both JP and MY love kyunghee as well.. but JP keeps his feelings to himself, not letting anybody know about it... whereas MY stepped up and decided to take responsibility for the unborn baby,  treating it as his own.. so yes i think they got married with the knowledge that it was not MY's baby. 

There is really an outright possibility that YS is President's son. But what really bugs me about this scenario is the fact that while at least KH maybe even MY (possibly President or JP) must had know in the time of the wedding that she is pregnant, however, if you look at the photo that was taken during this event they all look so cheerful and utterly happy. Everyone is smiling the President has his arm around KH as if nothing bad happened and she is smiling blissfully as well, no signs of discomfort on either of their faces whatsoever .

During today's episode I uttered 6 times "OMG, he really is his father!" I mean there were so many obvious clues. Did anyone have the sudden realization why they showed so much of YS's finger fidgeting , the bean picking , character traits and so on...There were so many of them that when I wanted to utter the above written phrase for seventh time I started to think that they were far too many, actually . It occured to me that the writers could be setting up a trap for the viewers but since the screenwriters in Korea love so much the birth secret scenario it's unlikely.

I would like it better if we found out that MY or KH are the President's sibling or best friend or anything else. Making YS the son of President makes the things even more complicated than they already are plus poor Yoon Sung and what kind of people would it make of KH and the president .

And I have been thinking what are the simularities between LMH previous roles and YS.

Jun Pyo: rich kid falls in love with poor girl and parent is against it and someone tries to steal her.

Jin Ho: Has to hide who/what he really is, Has to compete with an other guy for a girl.

Next to that I didn't see any series he's in. I really want to see Get Up and Mackerel Run though

Try the movie English Teacher(ET). He plays there a rich high school student with bad grades but with good heart. It's a minor role however he has some good scenes like when he fights with his rival on the rooftop or when he tries to persuade the girl from commiting suicide. It was shot a year before BOF and if the casting director saw him in it I'm not suprised he cast him as Goo Jun Pyo.

I think the reason why YS refused to drink the coffee NN made him was because he didn't want to become addicted/attached to it. Remember when ajusshi first came to Korea, he made YS coffee but YS didn't like it because it wasn't like the one NN made him? Just like how looking at the coffee reminds NN of YS , coffee reminds him of NN too.

Actually, I think the reason for refusing the coffee is different. When YS discussed his mother's condition in hospital the doctor told him the donor of the transplant should be careful with his health. Maybe YS just doesn't want to take any risks that would endanger his mother's leukemia treatment.

Hi guys, did you notice how lee min ho didn't have any blood on his left hand when he stood up after stabbing his own hand?

Actually, yes, I did. It was just a millisecond, however, I was looking to see Yoon Sung's injured hand from the first moment he pierced it so I noticed. I suppose the live-shoot's been taking toll and there are some mistakes. In fact, when he'd hit the mirror in the hospital there was no sign of an injury afterwards during the kidnapping scene with YJ's father,too.

I must give props to the screenwriters, cast & crew for delivering another two stellar episodes. There were some very randomly edited scenes thorough the last couple of episodes but that is to be expected from a kdrama after it progresses past 10 episodes since they are in the live-shoots. The plot thickens while going fast, all is again action packed and we got new clues. I really appreciate that they gave us slightly less gripping ending because seriously I'm one heart attack away from fatal heart failure . I was in need of this breather.

However, I think they should step up a gear in the YS-Nana story. In the last three episode they were all nice and cute but I begin to feel it's too much and little too random. It lacks the intensity it had during the first eleven and half episodes . I would like to see that tension and thrill to come back. Particularly from Nana, it appears to me that PMY's portrayal of Nana has been a little too much cutesy during most of her scenes with Yoon Sung . She should be more plucky and intense during them such as during her latest clashes with JP and YJ . I'm afraid that the YS-Nana relationship lost a little steam in the last two episodes . I don't want to be overly critical but I've felt a little letdown.

It was announced to be 20 episodes long. There are still two targets for City Hunter and they need to wrap up the whole story so I suppose 16 episodes wouldn't have been enough.

Omo! It looks like in the preview YS found out the truth about his mother.

I really hope that it's the reason why he goes berserk, however, if it's because JP gets somehow rid of Nana I'll go seriously crazy

Besides, I admire the way they shot the fighting scene with Nana. It looks realistic which is a suprising sight in kdramaland. They've been destroying the most notorious kdrama clichés since if there is a woman fighting in krama she must be wearing 10cm heels at the very least and fighting off a gang of trained killers . I'm always suprised she even beats one of them because the only way I can see that happening is for the heroine to take off the shoes and thrust the heels in their eyes and as far as I know that never happened. So kudos for the scriptwriters and production team for thinking of that.

Second cliché is that no matter how much you are hurt in two days you are fit and fighting squads of elite troops left and right(like Iljimae or look at Moon Jae Shin he got several times slashed with a blade however in couple of days he was seen running above half of roofs in entire capital city - not that I mind since he looked so damn cool ) In City Hunter injuries and the after-effects remain thats's great

I kinda feel bad that every time I bring feedback from the official site it's mostly negative remarks. I just thought people will be interested in how well the drama is received and what korean netizens are saying. Anyway, many are not pleased with where the drama's heading for epi 11. Many say that of course ratings ought to rise this week but the overall sentiment is that episode 11 seem to be a totally different drama, and it's unbelievable that Nana who hasn't received special training is suddenly on par with the City Hunter (who has been harshly trained for 28 years) and can take down so many bodyguards. People are cynically asking if that is even possible and who is the true City Hunter.

I guess those comments write people who want to see YS become a bulletproof and mistake-free psychic who can foresee enemy's every move and fight through 10 opponents in every episode and escape unscathed . Well, I know this a fiction, however, this would be unrealistic even for a kdrama. (Even Batman can fall from a roof, Superman has kryptonite ) I like they show that he's vulnerable and despite all his training only human.

About Nana, I am satisfied how the scriptwriter's been developing her character and showing her growth. I have no idea what the people want. First they wanted to see her dressed like a nun and now they want her wait like a sacrificial maiden until somebody cuts her throat .

I suppose they were writing their comments during the time that they saw Nana was shot and they were afraid the scriptwriter will let Nana die because it looks like they weren't thinking straight.

Personally, I simply love the way the script is written and the scriptwriters and the whole production team's been doing a tremendous job so far. I hope they won't take the negative comments to heart and will keep the high standard they've already set.

However, if tomorrow Nana dies I cancell every single word of this post
