Sixth meeting - captured handkerchief FJ. DH kept her close, made her sleep, cooked for her in the show, and bring her to bed to sleep beside him. LOL. When she fell asleep trying to leave, he turned her back to handkerchief. DH couldn't bear the thought of her father Bai Yi looking for a husband for her.

Seventh is their outing to Mt Fuyu to duel with Xiao Yan. There, DH "loses" the handkerchief to his "enemy". Six long months before he sees his interesting FJ. And finally, there, in Fanyin Valley, his beloved gives him the most unexpected kind of welcome hello, mwahahaha.

DH certainly make his dates with FJ memorable!

It's interesting how DH only realised he was in love with FJ during the pimpo fruit competition. That meant, everything he did before hand was based on instinct. Some how he knew he had to chase away FJ's potential suitors and stick close to her at all cost.

Hahaha, I rather think it's a test of wills and wiliness. He knows she's hungry. He'd also like to see what can she do to his signature dish. Is she that hungry to eat it, or she'll do something about it? Whatever gives him the chance and time to catch her back in her human form.

I also think that whatever he did to FJ handkerchief, he'll also do to turned back to normal FJ - keep her close with him, cook for her his infamous sweet and sour fish, share his sleeping chamber and bed with her, bring her to Mt Fuyu to show off his Kung Fu skills. Grandpa was that smitten really. LOL.

DH was unconsciously showing off his manliness to FJ! Too bad she was focused on XY's beautiful facial features haha.

I wish for 三生三世枕上书漫画. Don’t get me wrong, the picture book character profile pics were stunning...alas to my dismay, I had to admit the artwork of Jiheng was beautiful. The first profile pic of FJ showed her youth more prominently than her beauty. Other pics like Dong Hua putting her hairpin back really showed her beauty more because she doesn’t look so young then. And no offence,...to those who have the picture book....did anyone think that some pics made Dong Hua look...kinda fat? :blink:His robes were so flowy...

but as Dong Hua said, she will become more beautiful as she grows older. And despite her youthfulness, she already is credited as second most beautiful woman. Jiheng doesn’t even make the top 3!

i wonder if there will be a manga sequel, if they will use the same manhua artist. I like her style because BQ and YH look gorgeous! But I wasn’t so impressed with her rendition of Feng Jiu, partly because of her hairstyle. Though her red fox drawing was SOOO CUTE!!!

I find Vengo and Reba more handsome and beautiful compare to the drawings.

To keep the conversation going, can I just say again how much I love that Dong Hua still felt heartache from his mortal trial until he met Xiao Bai again? Still disappointed he doesn’t recall the mortal trial memories because who knows if he would treat Qingti differently?

It would have been interesting to see DH remember his mortal trial.

Actually, I think if DH did remember,  he would have been extra wary of Qingti. He most definitely been sent off to some random position and would be no where near FJ!

Ah, but before walking off, she poured her heart to him when she thought he was Migu. I think DH found out that FJ is interesting on what she was talking about, before he even found out what she was known for and what she was infamous of.

I rather think DH is a good and patient listener. Though he was that uninvited blind date, others could have just interrupted her while she's talking of YQT, the white lotuses in the Pundarika pond, the collapsed dynasty at the mortal realm, and the Bifuchon tea from Su Moye. He had let her talk, and I gather he actually wanted to have quiet tea together with her, if only she stayed.

Excellent point. DH needs to be  especially when his wife can ramble on! I also admire how articulate DH is. He says just enough to get his point across.

I think DH fell in love with FJ at first sight. When FJ, Ali and Siming were talking outside the the gate of Heavenly realm. What initially triggered DH's curiosity was how FJ seemed to know him well. Most would not know that DH likes to prank others, but there she was talking to Siming being bullied by DH. From there DH's interest grew and as soon as they made eye contact, that was it for him!

From there onwards, FJ turned into a mystery DH wanted to solve. FJ may seem mature from appearance, but he knew FJ has a mischievous side. The sneaking into the banquet with a pot plant, blaming Migu for the disturbance and pulling tricks on her blind dates deepened DH's curiosity. DH went and sat down at the table because he wanted to see what FJ would do next and FJ did not let him down!

Blind date. Snorts. Wasn't DH the most successful blind date, twice?  She didn't (couldn't) chase him off. Second date, she gave him a show he surely dreamed of for months while she's in Fanyin and he's in Tai Chen palace. LOL!

    :heythere:

Lol...well she walked off for their 'first' date. DH literally could not keep his eyes off her from day one of making eye contact with her.

    Their dates are all memorable!

IKR.. couldn't agree more. No awkwardness between them.. I admires both Vengo/Reba for making Dongfeng's love genuinely look so real in ELOD....maybe because they did adores/admired( loved) each other very much IRL instead of just/only acted in-lust like some others co-stars in other drama.

    Here I am..Guagre as well as Dongfeng's lover..lol.

"I love the idea how Dongfeng together would have a lifetime of love and laughter" I also love this( yours) sappy words.

    :heart4:

    I am a Guagre too!

Their eyes are always full of affection when they look at each other, for in or out of drama.

I may be delusional, but I believe Vengo understand DH's character because he experienced the same feelings - the unconditional love, the desires to pamper and care, and of course the jealousy!

    IKR..and the back hugged scene..Awww..

Since I've seen many back hugged scene in kdrama before, so it shouldn't have make me felt delighted so much though..but it did , the sweetness...maybe because it's Dongfeng. They are so cute and adorable..

"You are Emperor DH, I'm Bai Fengjiu of Qingqiu."( DH's smile..so adorable)

"I'm your girl , Xiao Bai" ( agreed with @pawla l love this 'sappy ' lines so much )

Then DH playfully and sweetly tap FJs forehead with his forefinger..idk why? but I love it...lol

    FJ "Aren't you coming?"

DH: "We haven't got married yet?"

    FJ : "I didn't mean that"

Lol.. here's DH can't help but to tease her..or playing hard to get.

but the way FJ asked him , seem like or implying she 'invited' him to take a bath together in the hot spring...

I normally do not like sappy lines, but something about Dongfeng make it less cringey and more lovable. Their banter amuses me so much. I love the idea how Dongfeng together would have a lifetime of love and laughter. They would keep each other on their toes and daily life interesting.

    Would you rather:

    1) teach Dong Hua how to cook or Feng Jiu Buddhist sutras?

    2) steal one of Nie Chuyin’s fur pelts or steal food from Feng Jiu

    3) wear clothes from Qingqiu or the Sky Kingdom (it doesn’t have to be limited to ELOD; the clothes from the movie were gorgeous!)

    1) I can't cook and have no understanding on the topic of Buddhist sultras. I will probably end up getting lectured instead.

    2) Food from FJ. If she finds out I am starving,  she would cook me a feast!

    3) Qingqiu. The clothing seems beautiful and practical. The pastel colours are so gorgeous to look at.

Ikr.. DH'S expressive affectionate eyes is very telling. If anyone pay attention to how intense his gazes , how fascinated he's with FJ ( especially at the Tea class scene) they should've know DH likes FJ very much.. especially JH..she did know but such a shame she likely just ignored it and try to compete with FJ with her obnoxiously ways.

The way they look at each other makes me believe in love!

DH doesn't normally make eye contact and almost seems like he looks through people. FJ is the one person he seems to have this insatiable desire to have eye contact and physical touch with.

DH's eyes are different even with a casual look to FJ. The warmth, affection, the smoulder were all there, and he sees all of her. Even the minutest things like the minuscule tea leaf in her hair, or that knot in her hair. Wasn't he cute when he was asking if she didn't comb her hair? :relaxed:

FJ certainly can do no wrong in DH's eyes. As long as it does not involve another male, I swear DH thinks everything FJ does is cute.

The third prince of Heaven had a famous saying:

'Look at the love to see the lover.'

    For example,

there was the passionate kind of love,

the steady kind of love, and also

    the courteous kind of love.

There were people who loved very much but said very little.

Then there were people who love very much and said just as much.

One could not say that someone else's feelings weren't love just because his love was different from one's own.

She(FJ) had always admired the third prince for being an expert in love affairs.

( I didn't know why? but I'm laughed at this words)

If he had personally said them, then they were naturally good advices.

She used this good advice to test on Aranya and Chen Ye. She thought that in
the past two years, despite his unfriendly demeanor to Aranya, despite his
unconcerned words, perhaps he was the kind of man who loved very much but said very little. His love was exactly the courteous kind of love.

FJ summarised Shen Ye's love toward Aranya is the courteous kind of love (loved very much but said very little).

So what category do guys think of DH's loved toward FJ and SXR's loved toward Xiao Jiu?

    I think its a mixture!

But if it is strictly in one category,

DH's love towards FJ is steady.

He said alot for his standard, but not enough for FJ to understand.

SXR's love for Xiao Jiu is more passionate.  Not that it wouldn't turn steady if he was given the time and opportunity. SXR did and said alot to prove his love for her.

To the point that his people thought he was mesmerized by Xiao Jiu. He wasn't really. I thought he just knew Xiao Jiu is the right one for him and she would never intentionally harm him.

    What do you think?

This present Tianjun seems to be too hasty in deciding things. I can admire him though that even his kin will not be spared if they broke rules.

My view is that Zhi He took advantage way too long of the prestige being the foster sibling of Dong Hua. So she grew spoiled, likely because people DH entrusted her to weren't able to discipline her. DH wasn't around much either - that period of her early years weren't exactly peaceful. It didn't help too that he indulged her.

Though he did try to teach her something, it was quite late as she already thinks there's no point, he's there looking after her. Situation became worse when her feelings became territorial where he's concerned - she now sees DH in romantic light. Her obsession was her downfall, seeing that she was wilfully committing crimes so that DH becomes her husband.

Thus, there's a need for hard means to discipline and to make her realize her correct place - ZH's not going to be spared punishment even if she's DH's foster sister. That she's still subject to the laws in Jiuchongtian, and Tianjun has no issues enforcing the sentences whoever that immortal is.

In this light, the punishment of exile is the best way forward.

Great points. It is the best punishment for her situation.

ZH clearly thought by going through with the ceremony, she would be DH's wife forever.

Do you think she is too simple minded or she thought DH may have some affection for her, or she didn't know DH well to assume he wouldn't divorce her right away?

Hmm perhaps she was too desperate and blinded by love for DH, she made such a rash decision.

    3 hours ago, Megan said:

You know, before Dong Hua realizes that Feng Jiu was his pet fox, he probably thought they were in a love square.

he likes FJ -> FJ seems to like XY -> XY obviously <3 JH -> JH likes DH

It is easy to see why there were so many misunderstanding between DH and FJ. Without knowing their thoughts, DH and FJ's actions towards JH and XY can easily be misinterpreted to romantic interest.

About time, if she still acts that entitled after centuries of exile. Teaches her the lesson too, to be ready for very frank answers when one asks questionable questions.

DH must have been more at ease after ZH was exiled. He's also wise not to fuel her obsessions by keeping her away. Eh, the girl's still possessive of DH and still harbouring some dreams basing from her reactions upon hearing foster brother's marriage.

That Tianjun appear to be bad at reading people and situations.

Makes me wonder if he would be respected, if he did not have a title.

I can't believe how long DH just ignored ZH. I mean, DH isn't responsible for her life, but would ZH be like this if DH did sent her away earlier on? But I guess he had no solid excuse to do it.

Playtime was over when the foster brother demanded that she address him as "His Majesty". :smirk:

One is innocent, while she's guilty of attempting to defraud her former ruler. Zhi He is beyond old enough to be tried and convicted. She is a fool to think DH will plead for her. Looking after someone doesn't extend to shielding from punishments due to crimes committed.

That's Ji Heng, not Zhi He.

There was no interaction at all after Bingcang. If there was any, she would be expected to congratulate with gracefulness the emperor and his empress.

Zhi He ran off to Tai Chen Palace, drinking and asking everyone why DH married FJ. Finally, Zhong Lin told her that FJ is very good with sword, she can fight, and she's an excellent cook. Something Zhi He has no skills of. Zhong Lin also told her that compared to FJ, Zhi He is ugly.

That is how she finally felt ashamed of herself and went back on her own to the mountain where she's living while serving her exile.

What Zhonglin said to her was a good wake up call. She was too sheltered and had everything catered to her demand. Hopefully she will self reflect and make some positive changes.

Feng Jiu commented in response to Bai Qian's mock reprimand on why she's smiling that Qing Qiu immortals who broke the laws has to do something meritorious in order to be back in good graces, whereas in Jiuchongtian, talent can accomplish the same. The aunt and niece then "complimented" DH's volunteering to serve that he's doing it for Zhi He's parents and that his love for the foster sister is touching. Thereafter, Tianjun didn't proceed with the supposed pardon for Zhi He.

(***Bai Zhen instead of Bai Qian in adaptation)

To say that it's Feng Jiu who stopped the amnesty for Zhi He is categorically incorrect. She doesn't have that kind of authority in Jiuchongtian - it is in Tianjun's power to grant or deny reprieves or clemencies, regardless of whoever's views.

Note that in the book, that pardon for Zhi He was supposed to be a favour to Dong Hua by Tianjun, in response to the wagging tongues' recounting of DH "saving his foster sister" from the Chiyan beast.

Neither did Feng Jiu and Bai Qian say that Zhi He has not earned the right to come back. Implied, yes, but formally stated, no.

Whereas for Ji Heng, Feng Jiu directly informed her not to try serving as a Tai Chen palace maid. That would be a closer fit to the "going back to Tai Chen palace but Feng Jiu stops her".

Zhi He was with DH as foster sister. JH has also been around DH plenty enough times and once lived too in Tai Chen Palace.

If Dong Hua asked Zhi He to leave, it's because she's still an exile. He is being just, and it is in deference to Tianjun as Jiuchongtian ruler.

I did wonder if seeing FJ's reaction to ZH during the gathering, made DH more motivated to send her away.

Victory was formally clinched upon the registration of their marriage to Madam Nuwa, and spectacularly announced it at FJ's Bingcang ceremony.

Haha I love that description. So clinical, so DH.

I know DH did not realise he is in love with FJ, until she won the competition. Everything he did to get FJ' attention prior to that seemed instinctual. But I wonder if he realised he was more expressive around FJ? He smiled and talked more, and seeked physical contact.

    The courting of DH includes:

    1. Deliberately spreading rumors about him and FJ

    2. Capturing her as soon as he had the chance

    3. Keeping her close, like nobody else that close

    4. Outing at Mt Fuyu for the duel

    5. Reading everything about FJ

    6. Later on, stalking her at Fanyin Valley

    7. Giving up cultivation to be with her and to save her

    He did all these because:

    1. He fell in love with FJ at first sight (he initially didn't knew)

    2. He knew Bai Yi has been long looking for a husband for FJ (he dislikes that fact, after he had a good look at her)

    3. He must have heard about how many had shown up to the dating banquet for FJ (he's the one who got lucky, mwahahaha)

    4. Everywhere she goes, someone crushes on her (including DH, hahahaha)

Can Lian Song and other bachelor deities match DH? After all, the story on how DH and FJ as a couple is legendary for how much love and devotion they have for each other to defy Destiny.

    :approves:

Great summary. DH have a strategically sound mind. With minimal effect, he cut off potential suitors by fueling rumours between him and FJ. He further sealed the deal at Bing Cang ceremony.

Poor Bai Yi. When DH mentioned that the whole world knows he is FJ's husband now, he was stating the truth, yet rubbing in the fact that Bai Yi had no choice but to accept him. I felt sorry for Bai Yi for a second. Luckily, DH loves FJ so much and does whatever possible make her happy.

Cough, I think I have a female crush on FJ too. She seems like a fun friend to have around.

DH have the advantage of being a powerful and respected deity. While others, such as Liansong have many other responsibilities and worries to consider. I imagine the other male deities will have different situations and things that they are willing to sacrifice for their better half.

MM: "I don't like it. They would be slapped if we are not close. I'm not interested in these tricks like in the drama."

I know a gg who is handsy which she doesn't seem to have any problems with. :phew: Albeit, he isn't lewd or objectifying her in any sense. :)))

I love Reba. The sass. No positive mentions for the male lead and further disapproval for his handsy manners. I haven't watched LD. But it sounds ds like Reba's acting was on point. Good on her.

I think ELOD demonstrated the leads don't need to show skin or kiss passionately on every episodes to have great chemistry.

True..their Eskimo and DH Forehead's kisses always give me a "butterflies" . in fact it has had more effects than all the supposedly "hot kissed" (I've seen a lots) scenes from all the dramas I've been watches namely Kdrama + Cdrama+ Thais +Philippines +Hong Kong + Singapore + Japanese+ Spanyol + Turkish+Taiwan.. :D none of them can compared to Dongfeng mutual attractions in ELOD'S

Dongfeng's affectionates lovingly sweets , the sparks in their eyes, lingering caresses was the best..

As for Dongfeng's hot kissed in EP 35 ( rolling kiss) and Episode 42( cave )...even until today those scenes still gave me a "goosebumps" and the feels was lasting even just to think or remember about it .I mean it been months already but the effects was still the same.

And Dongfeng's (DH)sweet lovingly kissed (4 forehead's + 1 nose kiss) in Ep52 on mark 24:48 - 26: 18  I was so captivated and mesmerized by those scenes. It so fulfilling and satisfying scenes to watched between two lovers who were deeply in love with each other.. zero awkwardness and Guangre nailed it!.

I am usually a prude and do not overly enjoy kiss scenes. DH and FJ changed this. Although their kisses wasn't intense, FJ and DH kisses are so tender. They looked like they enjoyed the physical touch.  They made me realized it wasn't me, it was just the lack of chemistry in some other drama that made it difficult to watch.

They're so gentle yet so passionate at the same time.

Many equate torrid or French kissing as basis of intense passion, but that isn't true for DH and FJ.

Intense passion is how they look at each other before and after kissing,  as if their eyes are saying "in all eternity, I am yours forever, and you're my beloved for always."

    :heart4:

That is a beautiful description! They are passionate and so much love between the two. They look happy to just cuddle all day.

There should be a survey in the demon realm to find out who among the demons and demonesses were carried off his bed. Hahaha. Bonus points for pinpointing who exactly is that pretty lad.

Lian Song isn't deserving of that playboy title, he isn't gaining much ground with Cheng Yu.  The recluse got married and had a son ahead of him. DH was bolder than LS; as soon as he sighted the one who caught his interest, he didn't waste time.

Let's see in Lotus Steps if LS "improves". Hahahaha.

Certainly if other deities saw how DH court FJ, the player title would easily be transferred to DH.

I have to say, I admire how DH goes all in, as soon as he decides FJ is the one.

I am sure LS have it in him to be just as shameless as DH. I can't wait to read his story. Try as I may, I can't decipher the MTL translation. I have limited brain cells and attempts to read the MTL killed half of it off.

ZL has been loyal to DH for so long, he saw the pain amd misery and without ZL's interference, after DH's death I think FJ would have faded away into oblivion from depression and despair. So can't blame ZL in fact FJ should be thankful.

Good point. FJ wouldn't have lived long if DH passed away. Equally it would be the same for DH, if FJ died.

It's beautiful how DH originally plan on going into a deep sleep with FJ after his fight with Miao Lou. He had such strong faith that FJ would naturally follow him.

But she never wanted that stuff, so can it be included in the sentence “what else do you want from Dijun?”

ok, she wanted the birds to dance and for specific decorations but I believe she gave those up when she went to the mortal realm

There lies the issue. DH didn’t know what exactly he could do to prove to FJ, that he loves her and only her. In his practical manly way, he prepared Bihai Cangling the way FJ envision it. DH was focused on providing safety and shelter for FJ. Whereas FJ perceived it as "I am sorry for running away" compensation.

Zhonglin asked FJ in frustration "what else do you want from DH."

He wasn't really expecting an answer. It was more of him stating that DH have done everything in his power to make you happy.

Again, this sentence isn't meant to be taken literally. You need to interpret the meaning with the situation.

Have you seen the BTS of that scene? The sound of DH throwing the chopsticks were really loud, louder than dubbed scene  Vengo really nailed it there.

I can't remember seeing it. I would love to watch it, if you have the link.

I hope Vengo will win an award for this role, his facial expressions are priceless, his overall package just majestic!

I don’t care that Dong Hua was trying to protect their fate and whatnot, he should have asked for her consent in entering into a real relationship with him. I can’t believe Zhonglin is trying to excuse the memory altercation thing. Oh who am I kidding? This guy will always be on Dong Hua’s side and will defend him even when wrong. Case in point when he sought Lian Song’s help to preserve Dong Hua’s reputation.

You seem very rule governed. That is not a bad thing.

Rules and laws are put in place to help guide us on what is considered the right thing to do.

But in reality not everything is black and white, especially when emotions are involved.

In DH's case, he never really abide normal convention, that is because he is solution focus. In other words, he will do what it takes to get the result he wants/need. I can understand why you are angry, but to appreciate DH, you need to also consider things from his POV.

I presume Zhonglin have served DH forever! It is understandable why Zhonglin exploded at FJ. If you consider the situation, DH was about to die. Zhonglin had no emotional capacity to care about FJ's emotional well being at that time. What Zhonglin said was not wrong and he was laying down the facts.
