  1. Our genius ad-lib king! One of the most hilarious scene came from his brain. Also I will never ship up about his eyelashes. I don’t think my eyelashes look this thick even with my mascara on.

Kim Jung Hyun Reviews His Role In “Mr. Queen,” His Criteria For His Next Project, And More

Kim Jung Hyun delivers a breath of fresh spring air with his pictorial for Allure Korea!

Following the successful finale of his drama “Mr. Queen,” Kim Jung Hyun received praise for his performance of the two-faced King Cheoljong. The actor stated, “I want to be an actor who catches one’s eye and brings a character to life by expressing the character well.”

He added, “I think I worked hard on concentrating and focusing in on it. Rather than trying to act a certain way, I focused on how I can show the dynamics between Cheoljong and the people around him.”

A scene that garnered much attention was one where King Cheoljong expresses the memory of spending the night together to Kim So Yong (Shin Hye Sun). He shared that it was an ad-lib, explaining, “The scene wasn’t there before, but during rehearsals I thought it might be good if it went like that so I came up with it it. I felt like the notion of being left behind would be emphasized. I didn’t think I would have to do it in a clever manner. I just thought that I would have to explain it the best I can.”

Wrapping up the interview, Kim Jung Hyun commented, “These days, I want to do a project that gives hope or courage. I think I would be comforted while partaking in it. I hope that I’ll be able to work on a project that warms people’s hearts and makes them happy.”

  2. I’m watching BTS videos of Time after I finished the drama yesterday. Jung Hyun actually looked healthy and happy at the beginning of Time. It was painful to see him descending into the depression and insomnia later...

This is from Time script reading, he was focused but he still looked very much healthy. I think his eyes could set fire to my soul if I saw them in real life.

@Eliza Marlowe Hi and welcome to the thread! I read that he already applied for his account to be verified but I don’t know why it’s taking so long.

  3. I remember a fan saying she started watching Mr Queen to cure her heartbreak after Time and CLOY, only to be traumatised by the ending even more  :tounge_xd: She said she’d rather for Cheoljong to die if the story was wrapped up satisfyingly than to get this pointless ending.

I think both SHS and KJH must be swarmed by the offers right now. They might never become huge like some other k-stars with tens of millions followers and they won’t be topping charts with CFs but they are and will always be highly respected in the Film and TV industry for their outstanding talents. I personally want to see both of them to take on something challenging and daring, I want to see their true potential as artists.

I think KJH would make ask amazing villain. He’s got those eyes that can be soft but also cold and hard. He’s one of few actors who have the face for playing both sweet leading men and chilling villains.

@aisling I know that Time isn’t the best drama out there, but please continue to watch it for JH! He is so so so so so good in there!

I just finished episode 12 and I feel so dejected right now. I would finish any drama for him even though the story didn’t captivate me.

Episode 12 of Time wrecked me. Jung Hyun looked like he would pass out any second, his pale face and the way all the clothes hung on him loosely.... He literally looked like he barely stood on his feet. Now I feel even prouder of him because he picked himself from the ground after Time and made a comeback with a BANG!

I didn’t care about anyone except for Soo Ho, so I really can’t comment on anything else. Episode 12 was very painful to watch. Not only because Jung Hyun looked so sick and ill but because Soo Ho’s fate was so sad and tragic. When he broke down and said he wanted to live happily and raise kids I totally lost it and started sobbing uncontrollably. My respect for him as an actor is immense.

He immersed himself into Soo Ho and that was the main reason, but I also think he overworked himself to the core back in 2018. Apparently there were only 2 or 3 weeks between the finale Welcome to Waikiki and the script reading for “Time.”

He did two projects in a row without taking a break.

  5. Did all of you watch Time? I’m on episode 10 and the script, directing, even editing is so off and messy? Jung Hyun is trying his best but the writing does nothing for me. The female lead isn’t on par with his acting and it’s like watching one man show. And is a lack of skinship intentional? Besides the scene where he picked her up from the street... they didn’t even touch once?

It’s starting to be very apparent how thin he is compared to the first episode.

Overall as get older I have zero patience for nonsense script.

These are the things once you think about - you cannot stop unthinking :joy::joy:

now I want to know whether their next morning lovey-dovey stuff like CJ warming up SB was an ad-lib - I also want to know if the cart scene innuendos were ad-libs as well (like the fake elbow part and SB saying "uh-oh" lol)

and yes, it was really cold - so just hoping that their first night footage is longer - from the BTS of it - we do know they filmed more scenes than they showed

I read the script said Cheoljong warming So Bong’s hands on his chest. But he put them under his armpits instead  :joy:

  7. I’m still in shock there’s a person who outdid me in horniness. LMAO even I couldn’t come up with So Bong saying “Cheoljongie, cover me up with your hot naked body as a blanket.”

The worst part is that now I can’t stop thinking about it.

Sadly, I don’t think they filmed their sex scene because it was already really cold. They probably just skipped it but I’d like to be wrong in this one.

I like the narration of CJ unties SB's hair. I know in ancient time only the husband can untied a woman hair and usually in ancient setting drama/movie this kind of scene is filmed with extra care and slow mo complete with all of the drum rolls and fireworks with many different angles. I am gutted that we were deprived of such beautiful scene.

Yeah, apparently untying a woman’s hair is more intimate than a kiss. And they didn’t show us. I wonder if they filmed it but edited it out or they just skipped it.

  9. @skinnyjeans The way you described his body parts  :tenor:

I don’t know why I didn’t fall for him in CLOY despite rooting for Alberto and Dan more than the main couple (this was the only drama I watched with him prior Mr Queen). I blame his hairstyle. I really didn’t like that hairstyle.

I was following Mr Queen from the start, so I remember I was taken aback how handsome he was in the first episode back in December. I tried to fight the attraction towards him during those first episodes of Mr Queen. I tried not to be obsessed too much and failed spectacularly.

When he looked at her like that in episode 1 my heart already skipped a beat. It was a cold stare but somehow he looked really hot and the same time?

    spacer.png

When he looked at her curiously and warmly for the first time I found him breathtaking in that scene. The shift in his eyes and that little smile did it for me. This was the first time I noticed how perfectly heart-shaped his lips were. Like I’ve never seen more perfect lips on any other guy. But I think it was mostly his acting and the way he made me believe he was starting to fall in love.

    spacer.png

After he saved her from the lake and water was dripping from him I was a goner. And the rest of the history. Here I am. Failing not to be obsessed :joy:

Looking at those gifs makes me swoon all over again. He’s really a very good actor.

Guys, anyone knows a sub version of this video? I want to know this conversation

on a different note, maybe we should request the mod to change the thread name to Kim Jung Hyun and a-scientifically-thirsty-squad-who-can't-get-enough-of-him to better reflect ground realities :joy::joy:

Here you go! He had to do interview like smart and dumb Cheoljong :joy:

    Spoiler

BTW someone commented on TW that during a face-off scene where Cheoljong was carrying HJ and Byeong In carrying So Bong, Na In Woo was shaking slightly while Jung Hyun was steady  :joy:  I’d need to watch that scene again to confirm.

  11. You know what guys? As much as disappointing the ending was, I’m grateful for Mr Queen. Not only I got to know Jung Hyun and his crazy talent (and his insane body), but I happened to stumble upon the most hilarious and thirsty squad :loolz:

Sometimes I just burst out laughing reading your comments! I started watching k-dramas way before they became the global phenomenon and it’s always delightful to chat with the same minded people. But I’ve never encountered a squad like you. Maybe because we’re all past those innocent and timid years so we can exchange opinions freely. So thank you for making me laugh and thank you for sharing love for Jung Hyun with me.

@aisling the thing we can't see can be estimated from his hands which are quite large :joy::joy: ohh my gutter mind

@cenching I actually didn't notice his eyelid - I was way too absorbed in the emotions of his eyes lol

@aisling I hope some kind soul can compile all his adlibs - I really loved that fireworks choreography scene - now I love it even more :partyblob: - now I want to see what the original script is and what all KJH added

Some say you can estimate by the size of their hands, other by size of their elbow:loolz:

I don’t think I’ve ever encountered any actor with so many ideas on set. Many scenes he contributed with his ad-libs became iconic. And the way the director just agreed to everything and went along with it showed how much he truested him.

I like his eyes.....:coolshades: I have a thing for monolid cute eyes....

Ladies, there’s not a single thing I don’t like about this man’s body. Not a single thing. Even a thing I haven’t seen  :glasses:

I agree with @cenching that Jung Hyun’s best feature are eyes. Especially as an actor he won a lottery with those eyes. I don’t understand why monolid eyes are generally not considered attractive? All actors I’ve ever liked had monolid eyes. Jung Hyun’s eyes what made @cenchingtook notice of him originally, weren’t they? His masterful skills he had over his eyes is insane. The emotions he can convey through his eyes is what makes him so attractive. Also he’s one of few k-actors who has really pretty eyelashes.

Also what makes him even sexier in my eyes is that he’s apparently really strong. Some actors look buff but they aren’t that strong. You know they’re just “I can’t lift anything” buff. But everyone on Mr Queen set marvelled about his effortless physical scenes - from Na In Woo to Shin Hye Sun. He didn’t need a double for their lake underwater scene, the way he picked SHS in the kitchen made ladies on set giggled  and Na In Woo always gushes about JH‘s super strength and skills.

Also apparently that “fireworks choreography” scene was his adlib again??!!! Seriously, I can’t believe his brain.
