[Exclusive] Kwon Sang Woo in Talks to Appear as a Doctor in ′Medical Top Team′

Kwon Sang Woo will most likely next be donning a doctor′s gown under the lead of the director of The Sun and the Moon.

Multiple sources confirmed to enews on June 4 that "Kwon Sang Woo is currently in final talks for the upcoming MBC drama Medical Top Team."



Medical Top Team is a drama about how the best doctor dream team in Korea comes into being.

The drama has already been gathering attention as the next piece by producer Kim Do Hoon, who soared high with his successful piece The Sun and the Moon in 2012. Screenwriter Yoon Kyung Ah, of KBS2′s Brain, will also be joining in.

Kwon Sang Woo will appear in the piece as Park Tae Shin, a talented surgeon who is mistaken as a rude man but actually holds a kind heart inside. He believes all people are equal in medical care, and leads the medical top team with such values.

The role will be the actor′s first doctor role in his career.

A rep from Kwon Sang Woo′s agency also said, "It hasn′t been confirmed yet, but it is true we′re leaning toward taking up the piece."

Medical Top Team is currently in the process of casting its main roles. It will start airing in October.

***Ahhh……….another melo for KSW. His last drama, “Yawang” was also one, I wonder why he did the same genre again, huh? Kwon Sang Woo indirectly admitted that the drama sucked but I find it good. He also said something along the lines of not being too pleased about his role. I could not stop watching it because Soo Ae was the awesome evil woman there. I watched the drama till the end - it’s not bad but not wonderful as well. I love Kwon Sang Woo. He is an absolutely amazing actor. L-)

Kwon Sang-woo in talks to join Medical Top Team

Kwon Sang-woo is on the hunt for his next drama, and you can add Medical Top Team to the top of the list, as he has announced that he is considering taking the show and is currently in final talks. That sounds a lot closer to being confirmed than the last drama he was considering, period action series Age of Feeling, which makes me sad because that drama sounds cool but seems to be struggling to find a hero. It should just pull a Gaksital and cast a non-headliner in the lead, then be so great that he becomes a headliner because of it. C’mon, is that so hard? Now all you have to do is be awesome.

Ahem, but this post isn’t about that drama. Back to Medical Top Team, the new MBC medical show that has attached the PD of sageuk-romance mega-hit The Moon That Embraces the Sun, Kim Do-hoon. The very literal title is exactly what the show is about: a Dream Team comprising top geeeeenius doctors in various branches of medicine, telling stories of their struggles, ambitions, and daily lives being genius doctors. Yaaaawn. Oops, did I say that out loud?

But c’mon, Kwon Sang-woo, you’re killing me with your drama choices. I was all primed to be excited about that other one, but I’m just about medical-drama’d out. Unless the show is working a special angle, they tend to all bleed together in my mind. Kwon would be playing a smart, handsome, confident surgeon whose forthrightness gets him mistaken for a bad boy type, though he’s actually warm and kind and perfect, yaaawn. Oh I did it again, didn’t I?

The decision is not yet final, but it’s sounding like there’s a pretty good chance he’ll take it. The drama will be a Wednesday-Thursday show that will follow Two Weeks, which puts its premiere all the way in October.

Kwon Sang-woo in "Medical Top Team?"

Actor kwon Sang-woo is revising the new MBC drama "Medical Top Team" and KBS 2TV "Generation of Youth"..

kwon Sang-woo's agency claimed, "kwon Sang-woo is thinking between "Medical Top Team" and "Generation of Youth". He'll be starring as the lead character".

"Medical Top Team" which has been organized to air after "Two Weeks" which is a follow up of "The Queen's Classroom", is directed by Kim Do-hoon from "The Sun and the Moon" and written by Yoon Kyeong-ah from "Master of Study". kwon Sang-woo would take on the role of surgeon Park Tae-sin.

"Generation of Youth" is based in Shanghai, China in the 1930's and is the story of youths who struggle from love, friendship, patriotism and passion. It is based on the original novel "Generation of Youth".

Meanwhile, kwon Sang-woo is thinking hard about his next drama and will come back at the end of this year should he choose one out of the two.

Kwon shows another side with new medical drama

Actor Kwon Sang-woo, 37, is set to star in the upcoming drama “Medical Top Team” in October, according to his agency, Bel Actor Entertainment.

The new show revolves around a top-notch medical team, in which Kwon plays a cancer specialist who is competent and warm-hearted but straightforward to a fault.

Kim Do-hoon, director of the hit drama “Moon Embracing the Sun,” and Yoon Kyeong-ah, screenplay writer of medical drama “Brain,” teamed up for the program.

“Kwon is excited to show a different side in the drama as it is his first acting role as a surgeon since his debut,” his spokesperson said Friday.

Recently, Kwon received favorable reviews from TV viewers for his performance as an ill-fated man who seeks revenge on his ex-lover in his previous SBS drama “King of Ambition” earlier this year.

“Medical Top Team” will take over the time slot of “Two Weeks” on MBC in October.

After playing double roles as twin brothers in his previous work 'Queen of Ambition', starring alongside Soo Ae and TVXQ's Yunho, the actor will return as a surgeon this time through 'Medical Top Team'.

He'll be playing the role of 'Park Tae Shin', who is a genius in the field of surgery, but is often misunderstood due to his rash comments and attitude. However, underneath the exterior lies a soft-hearted man. 

The filming will begin in August, and the drama will premiere in October on MBC!

Son Tae Young mourns the loss of her father

Actress Son Tae Young is currently mourning the loss of her father. 

Son Tae Young's rep revealed on the 12th, "Son Tae Young's father passed away this morning."

"We want to carry this out quietly... Although Son Tae Young is suffering, she will later resume filming for 'You're the Best Lee Soon Shin' as the filming schedule was previously set."

Her father's wake is being held at the Seoul ASAN Medical Center, attended by loved ones including the actress and her husband, actor Kwon Sang Woo.

Trainers Say Kwon Sang Woo Has the Best Abs

There are a lot of muscle men out there, but apparently, trainers believe Kwon Sang Woo is the best.

On the July 10 broadcast of XTM′s Dynamic Gym Show 2, four star trainers will appear to introduce a way to make a muscular body in just two weeks.

The show′s MC Oh Sang Jin asked the trainers at the recent shoot held for the episode to name the man with the best abs in Korea.

At this, three out of the four trainers chose Kwon Sang Woo.

Trainer Gu Ja Gon said, "There are many with abs, but it′s hard to see abs as balanced as Mr. Kwon Sang Woo′s, like a go board."

Trainer Lee Sun Mi also said, "Mr. Kwon Sang Woo′s six packs have the most perfect square shapes," while trainer Kim Seung Hyun also said, "There are many muscular men, but in abs, Kwon Sang Woo is the best."

Trainer Kim Sun Woo was the only one who chose Lee Jung Jae, saying, "Mr. Lee Jung Jae has the best body, as he has ′axe abs′ that look like they were cut perfectly with an axe."

The funeral of Son Tae Young and Son Hye Im's father was held at Seoul Asan Hospital located in Songpa district, Seoul.

Son Tae Young's father passed away on July 12th in the morning. Son Tae Young fell in a great despair after hearing the news, but she still made her way to shooting set of KBS 2TV drama 'Lee Soon Shin, You Are The Best'. Son Tae Young is currently casting in the drama as Lee Hye Shin, who is the first daughter of Kim Jung Ae(casted by Go Doo Shim).
