Based on a true story of 71 soldier trainees against seasoned North Korean fighters during the Korean War, the movie tells a tragic story of young boys' broken hopes and dreams due to the war.

It is year 1950 and the Korean War has begun. After continuous battles and retreats the South Korean army was ordered to leave Pohang City and to head for Nakdong River where the final defense line for South Korea is being set.

Before the army's departure, the captain gives a mission to 71 untrained student soldiers and their teenaged commander Oh Jang-bum (T.O.P) - they are to be left behind at their post - to hold the line against the advancing North Koreans and defend Pohang City.

One night, when a group of student soldiers including Gab-jo (Kwon Sang-Woo) are keeping a night watch, they spot a troop of North Korean soldiers. In spite of their fear, the student soldiers hide in the dark and manage to kill all of their enemy scouts.

During one of the encounters, one of the student soldiers gets caught by the North Korean soldiers. Park Moo-rang (Cha Seung-won), the ambitious colonel leading the North Korean armies, finds out that his enemy is only a group of young teenagers. He boldly visits the student soldiers' camp unarmed and demands the young soldiers to surrender.

Will the boys be shaken by North Korea's threats? How will these 71 precious young soldiers' life change the tide of war?

Daemul was parodied with Cyrano Agency’s poster

daemul-parody.jpg

One Korean netizen used his photoshop skill to make a parody of hit SBS drama Daemul using the poster of hit movie Cyrano Agency.

He (or maybe she) changed the face of Cyrano’s star (Uhm Tae Woong, Lee Min Jung , Park Shin Hye and Choi Daniel) with Daemul’s (Cha In Pyo, Ko Hyun Jung, Lee Soo Kyung and Kwon Sang Woo).

He didn’t stop with the face, he also changed Cyrano’s poster title : ‘Cyrano, love match team‘ into ‘What you say, mission for Daemul‘.

Then he changed Cyrano’s poster word ‘The man’s secret love tactics which girl doesn’t know’ into ‘The girl’s mission for Daemul which man doesn’t know’.

He uploaded the parody poster in the Daemul’s website an soon got warm review from other netizen.

And SBS reaction on that poster parody ? They’re not angry, instead they said : It was a coincident that no. 1 watched Wed-Thursday drama ‘Daemul‘ met with no. 1 movie ‘Cyrano Agency‘ like this. This well help to promote the drama to get more publicity and maybe more parody will appear.

Looks like the production team loves parody.

Drama ‘Daemul’ humiliated by careless typos and editing

20101014_daemul_3.jpg

The highly popular new drama ‘Daemul‘ was faced with some humiliation recently, after viewers have been discovering various typo errors in broadcasted episodes.

In episode 3, Seo Hye Rim and her children were on their way to Brisbane, Australia, but were blocked by the Immigration Office at Incheon Airport, saying she did not fulfill enough hours of voluntary service.

However, when they took a close shot of the computer screen with Seo Hye Rim’s passport information, instead of ‘Brisbane International Airport’, they mistakenly wrote it as ‘Brisbane International Aitport‘. Viewers also noticed that Seo Hye Rim’s airplane ticket read ‘October 17th, 2010′, when the drama is meant to be situated during the year 2000.

Additionally, during a scene were Kang Tae San arrives at the HBS broadcasting station, banners of SBS dramas ‘My Girlfriend is a Nine-tailed Fox‘ and ‘I Am Legend’ were spotted in the background.

Another typo mistake that was discovered in the pilot episode of ‘Daemul’ last week has also been garnering attention. In one of the scenes, a news report about a journalist getting kidnapped was shown, however, the captions underneath instead read, “Kidnapped Korean journalist killed”.

An associate of the production team stated, “Viewers discovering subtle typo errors in trivial scenes reflect the great amount of interest the drama is receiving. From now on we will be more cautious of our work to increase the quality and completeness of the production.”

Meanwhile, ‘Daemul’ has already nabbed a viewer rating of 26.4% after only 3 episodes, while KBS2’s ‘Fugitive‘ only raked in a viewer rating of 15.1%, showing a difference of 11.3%.

Daemul replaces writer in its second week

by javabeans | October 14, 2010

daemul30.jpg

Already, SBS’s Daemul is sitting pretty in first place in its second week — its latest, Episode 3, breezed past KBS’s Runaway Plan B with a 26.4% rating to the latter’s 15.1% — so it comes as a bit of a surprise to hear that the production has replaced its writer.

The first writer, Hwang Eun-kyung, penned MBC’s hit medical drama New Heart. Replacement Yoo Dong-yoon is the writer of 2001-02′s Ladies of the Palace, 2003-04′s Age of Warriors, and 2007-08′s King and I, all sageuk projects.

Naturally, this has given rise to a lot of questions as to why, particularly since the drama is poised to become a big ratings draw. On October 14, a source with SBS’s drama department stated that writer Hwang had completed the scripts for episodes 1 through 4, “But in the process of writing 5 and 6, she couldn’t come to an agreement about the direction of the drama, so we unfortunately had to bring in a replacement.” That source added that they would make sure to make the transition smoothly, so as to keep the flow of the drama from being interrupted.

But the issue continues to be a buzz topic, and some are wondering whether this is the result of outside pressure from political circles (given the drama’s focus on politics). SBS has come with a strong denial to those rumors, stating that the writer change was decided before the drama began airing, and that the only reason is because of a clear difference of opinion between writer and director. According to that source, both Hwang and Yoo had written scripts for Daemul at the outset, and the PD had chosen Hwang. When their views clashed, he decided to go with Yoo.

Will the direction shift hurt Daemul just when it’s getting off to a great start, or will it propel the drama to greater heights? Well, considering how I disliked the first week’s episodes, maybe I’ll have to give it a second shot.

hahha! Daemul never stop making surprise to audience

But i thought PD has his own reason the replace writter, that is his "no choice"

as long as they followed the first 4 ep style and keep it up!

With Go-Kwon, mission is POSSIBLE !! :w00t:

New SBS TV series "The President" led the Wednesday and Thursday night lineup once again, taking the No. 1 spot on ratings charts for the second consecutive week.

According to data released by TNmS (Total National Multimedia Statistics) on Friday, "The President," into its fourth episode, brought in viewership ratings of 23 percent on October 13 and a 0.4 percent increased mark the following night.

Numbers reported by AGB Nielsen Media Research showed that the Ko Hyun-jung starrer scored ratings of 26.4 percent on Wednesday and 26.1 percent on Thursday night.

"The President" is about Seo Hae-rim (played by Ko) who enters the world of politics by proposal of Kang Tae-san (played by Cha In-pyo). Seo sets her sights on the position of president with the help of her long-time friend Ha Doya (played by Kwon).

This week's episode focused on how Ha Doya was put into a dangerous situation after being stabbed by a knife in order to save Seo Hae-rim.

Meanwhile, both TV charts revealed that KBS' "Fugitive: Plan B" was the second most-watched show on Wednesday and Thursday night posting ratings in the 12 to 15 percent range, while MBC's "Naughty Kiss" came in third with ratings in the six percent range.
