Lee Min-ho hailed by thousands of fans at Taiwanese airport

SEOUL, Sept. 12 (Yonhap) -- South Korean TV actor Lee Min-ho, who is popular at home and in Chinese-speaking countries, received a warm welcome by thousands of fans when he arrived at a Taiwanese airport earlier this week, his management said Friday.

"The Taoyuan International Airport was crowded with thousands of fans coming to see Lee and a great number of journalists coming to take pictures of him at 10 p.m. Wednesday," his agency, Starhouse Entertainment, said in a release.

His arrival was televised live nationwide on the Next TV channel that night, it added.

Lee arrived in Taiwan to promote a product for which he is working as a TV commercial model after a visit to Shanghai for the same purpose. He was to fly to Thailand on Friday.

The actor rose to Asiawide stardom for his leading role in the South Korean soap series "Boys Over Flowers" in 2009. He is also known for his roles in "City Hunter" (2011) and "The Heirs" (2013). The upcoming film "Gangnam Blues" will feature Lee in his first leading role on the big screen.

Do you guys think that doing GB, his first notable film role, has anything to do with this bolder, manlier, sizzlier LMH?  Because honestly, I'm lovin' this evolution into the uber hot-blooded namja.  Of course, being the natural dork that he is, he will always have his adorkable qualities and childlike mannerisms that have endeared him to all of us.  But yes, I'm liking this super stud and I can't wait to see what he has in store for us in the future.

We are about to show you the newest and cutest commercial we've seen from Lee Min Ho, and we've even got the scoop on his favorite cake. We've heard it before: Lee Min Ho visits a country, causes commotion at the airport, and fans chase him everywhere. Poor Lee Min Ho! He even admitted to an interviewer that he was hungry when traveling to Taiwan on September 10. On the other hand, he was sitting in a comfortable pink massage chair that he was paid handsomely to promote.

The ad praises the massage chair's perfectly powerful features in giving you a full-body massage, and it calls the chair "Xiao Tian Hou" for "Little Heavenly Queen." It is in Chinese, but I think you'll get the idea once you see Lee Min Ho.

As you see, the chair is from OSIM, which says it makes the world's "most innovative massage chairs," according to its website. Lee Min Ho held a special fan-meet for 600 fans who purchased US$2,000 of OSIM products. Among these fans, only 5 lucky ones got to meet him on stage, hug him, play games with him, and even got fed mango shaved ice by him. These happy fans were so excited but shy that they almost left the stage too soon and had to be called back by Lee Min Ho himself to take photos with him.

Back to Lee Min Ho's hungry stomach...I guess we don't really have to feel bad for him because the event organizers prepared such famous Taiwanese delicacies as braised pork rice, beef noodles, and roast goose. Also, did you know that Lee Min Ho stayed in the hotel's Presidential suite that came with a Korean-speaking personal concierge? The sheets, pillowcases, and his bathrobe were all embroidered with his initials--everything to match the stature of a prince of romance.

The 2014 Korea Drama Awards has published its list of nominees and some k-drama favorites are up for awards. Kim Soo Hyun, Jun Ji Hyun, Ha Ji Won, and Lee Min Ho will compete for the Best Actor Award, as contenders are considered from the three major networks as well as the cable channels.

Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun are nominated for "You Who Came From Another Star," while Lee Min Ho will be considered for "The Heirs." Ha Ji Won is also in the running for her role in "Empress Ki."

Contenders in the Best Drama category include "You Who Came From Another Star" Empress Ki," King's Family," "Jeong Do Jeon" and "Secret Love Affair."

"Jang Bo Ri Is Here, "You Who Came From Another Star," Jeong Dp Jeon," "Reply 1994" and "Secret Love Affair" were nominated for Best Screenwriting.  The directors of "Empress Ki," "You Who Came From Another Star," "The Heirs," "Secret Lover Affair" and "Reply 1994" are up for Best Director.

Many favorite k-drama actors and actresses were nominated, some for more than one role.

The Best Male Actor category includes Ji Chang Wook for "Empress Ki," Lee Seung Gi for "You're All Surrounded," Lee Jong Suk for "Doctor Stranger," Kim Jaejoong for "Triangle" and Yoo Ah In for "Secret Love Affair." The Best Female Actor nominees include Oh Yeon Seo for "Jang Bo Ri Is Here" and "Hwang Jung Eum for "Secret" and "Endless Love." Lee Ji Ah was nominated for "Thrice Married Woman," Choi Ji Woo for "The Suspicious Housekeeper" and Kim Hee Ae for "Secret Love Affair."
