[스타일/패션]돌아온 애꾸눈… 단순하고 멋스럽게

《“머리 꼬락서니 하고는….” 살벌한 밥상 분위기. 신문을 보던 아버지는 맞은편에 앉은 아들의 모습을 훑는다. 아버지의 시선이 향한 곳은 바로 아들의 머리.

한쪽 눈을 덮은 아들의 헤어스타일이 못마땅한 듯 아버지는 아들에게 눈을 흘긴다. 맞은편 아들은 말없이 고개를 푹 숙인 채 밥알을 세고 있다. 그래도 아버지는 아들의 전화번호를

자신의 휴대전화기에 ‘나의 희망’이라 입력했다. 이를 본 아들은 활짝 웃으며 출근하는 아버지의 뒷모습을 바라본다.

헤어스타일 때문에 대립 각을 세우는 아버지와 신세대 아들. 여느 집안에서 한 번쯤 봤을 법한 이 풍경은 한 이동통신사 광고의 한 장면이다.

이 광고에서 아버지가 못마땅해 한 아들의 헤어스타일은 바로 ‘비대칭 컷.’ 한쪽은 짧고 다른 한쪽은 눈을 덮을 정도로 긴 앞머리가 특징이다.

아버지는 모르는 최신 유행의 세계, 마치 애꾸눈을 연상케 하는 이 ‘꼬락서니’는 이미 대세가 됐다.

○“관리 많이 안 해도 쿨한 느낌”… 코미디 소재로도 인기

평소 다양한 헤어스타일을 연출해 온 방송인 노홍철은 최근 비대칭 컷을 하고 있다. 금색으로 염색한 후 왼쪽 부분은 눈썹 위까지 자르고 오른쪽 부분은 눈을 덮을 정도로 내린 것이다. 노홍철의 헤어스타일리스트인 김광희 씨는 “관리를 많이 하지 않고도 쿨한 느낌을 살릴 수 있다”고 설명했다. 노홍철처럼 ‘금빛 비대칭’ 스타일은 아이돌그룹 ‘슈퍼주니어’의 멤버 이특, 한경에게서도 찾아볼 수 있다. 이들은 2집 ‘돈돈’을 발표하면서 강한 이미지를 나타내기 위해 금색 또는 노란색으로 염색한 후 앞머리를 비대칭으로 잘랐다. 영화배우 강동원을 비롯해 가수 윤도현, 디자이너 장광효 씨 등 검은색 비대칭 스타일을 연출한 스타들은 ‘신경 안 쓴 듯 쓴 듯’ 편안한 이미지를 나타낸다.

비대칭 스타일을 소재로 한 개그 코너도 있다. SBS ‘웃음을 찾는 사람들’의 ‘쑥대머리’ 코너는 비대칭 컷을 극대화한 등장인물을 주인공으로 내세웠다. 멀쩡한 주인공이 잘난 척하다가 긴 머리를 꺾으며 비굴한 모습을 나타내는 것이 이 코너의 웃음 코드다. ‘쑥대머리’에 출연하는 개그맨 김경욱은 “겉은 멋지지만 속은 별 볼 일 없는 인물을 풍자하기 위해 비대칭 컷을 강조했다”고 말했다.

연예인뿐이 아니다. ‘스타일리스트 류’를 비롯해 헤어스타일 관련 인터넷 카페에서는 비대칭 컷 연출법을 문의하는 게시글이 수백 건에 달하며 인터넷 가발 판매 사이트에서는 각각 왼쪽, 오른쪽 가르마에 맞는 가발이 판매되고 있다. 미용실 ‘헤라’의 김영인 원장은 “비대칭 스타일을 원하는 고객이 1주일에 평균 30명 이상 된다”고 말했다.

○90년대 ‘김건모 머리’ 이어받은 헤어스타일의 미니멀리즘

비대칭 컷으로 대표되는 애꾸눈 스타일의 기원은 20여 년 전으로 거슬러 올라간다. 1980년대에 한쪽 머리를 완전히 넘기고 한쪽은 날카롭게 내린 것을 시작으로 1990년대에는 일명 ‘김건모 머리’라며 앞머리를 볼에 붙여 내린 스타일이 유행했다. 비대칭 컷은 이러한 경향을 이어받은 것으로 ‘치장을 최소화하자’는 미니멀리즘 분위기를 담고 있다.

아우라 미용실의 임철우 원장은 “얼마 전까지 남성 헤어스타일은 ‘섀기컷’ ‘울프컷’ 등으로 화려했고 왁스나 스프레이도 많이 사용했다”며 “비대칭 스타일은 좀 더 단순하면서도 평범하지 않아 보이는 것이 인기 비결”이라고 말했다.

비대칭 컷을 하고 있는 모델 길경준 씨는 간편함을 꼽았다. “긴 쪽 머리가 시야를 가리거나 머리카락이 눈을 찌르는 등의 불편함이 있지만 가르마 방향으로 머리를 잘 말리기만 해도 원하는 스타일을 연출할 수 있다”고 말했다.

반면 파격적이라고 보는 경우도 있다. 앞머리를 균일하게 잘라 젤이나 왁스로 ‘올백’을 하거나 눈썹 위까지 덮는 것이 일반적인 남성 헤어스타일이었다면 비대칭 컷은 앞머리를 똑바로 자르지 않는 것부터 기존 스타일과 다르다는 것. 이는 ‘남성의 여성화’와 무관하지 않다. ‘슈퍼주니어’의 헤어스타일리스트 강호 씨는 “스포츠 컷이나 버섯머리 스타일 등 남성적 스타일보다는 여성성이 강조된 헤어스타일이 더 멋스러운 것으로 인식된다”며 “내년에는 짧은 쪽과 긴 쪽의 색이 다른 ‘투 톤 컬러’로 화려하게 변모해 나갈 것으로 전망된다”고 말했다.

머리 감은 후 가르마 방향으로 자연스럽게 말리면 OK

비대칭 컷의 장점 중 하나는 관리하기 편하다는 것. 헤어드라이어와 스프레이만 있어도 충분하다. 비대칭 스타일 연출에서 가장 중요한 것은 바로 방향이다. 머리를 감은 후 가르마 방향으로 헤어드라이어로 자연스럽게 말려 주면 된다. 긴 쪽으로 눈을 덮는 것이 스타일의 핵심이기에 손으로 짧은 머리 쪽에서 긴 머리 쪽으로 방향을 주는 것도 중요하다. 스타일이 연출된 후에는 스프레이를 가볍게 뿌려 주거나 긴 머리 끝 부분을 강조하기 위해 광택이 나는 헤어 에센스를 발라 주는 것도 좋다.

단점은 앞머리의 사선(斜線)을 제대로 연출하기 위해 앞머리 커트를 자주 해야 한다. 헤어 전문가들은 “한쪽이 너무 짧으면 윗머리를 내린 것 같고 한쪽이 너무 길면 귀신 같아 보일 수 있다”며 “짧은 쪽이 옆머리 선과 맞닿아야 하고 긴 쪽은 눈을 살짝 덮는 정도가 가장 좋다”고 조언한다.

최근 한국영화 속 장르의 부상은 한국영화의 위기가 곧 서사의 위기임을 공감하면서 시작됐다. 검증된 서사구조를 갖춘 장르는 나름의 규칙을 따르거나 배반하면서 재미를 얻게 되는데 이중 저예산과 아이디어, 특정 논리로 승부할 수 있는 공포영화나 스릴러 장르는 서사의 위기를 돌파할 수 있는 또 하나의 해법으로 지목되고 있다. 올해 엄청난 컷 수를 자랑하며 스피디한 전개를 보여준 스릴러 ‘세븐 데이즈’의 원신연, '토종 스릴러의 묘미를 살린 ‘극락도 살인사건’의 김한민, 한국영화에서 본 적이 없는 공포영화의 새로운 미장센이란 평을 들은 ‘기담’의 정가형제 등 좋은 평가를 받은 신인 감독들의 작품이 모두 장르영화였다는 점은 상기할 필요가 있다. 이들은 나름의 개성과 완결성 있는 서사구조, 감각적인 미장센과 특징적인 아이디어로 승부하며 한국 영화계에 신선한 활력을 불어 넣었다.

2. 박희순-Park Hee Soon

13년 전 장준환 감독의 단편 ‘2001 이매진’(1994)으로 스크린에 데뷔한 이후 ‘가족’, ‘남극일기’, ‘러브토크’ 등을 통해 배우로 성장해 온 박희순이 ‘세븐데이즈’의 형사 성열역으로 일을 냈다. 숨 쉴 틈 없이 스피디하게 몰아가는 이 영화 안에서 장르의 전형성을 드러내는 형사 캐릭터의 적정선을 본능적으로 넘나들며 활력을 불어 넣은 박희순은 극 안에서 대단한 존재감을 보여줬다. 때문에 뒤늦게 그의 진가를 알아본 많은 사람들이 ‘올해의 재발견’에 주저없이 박희순을 꼽고 있다. 최근 개봉된 ‘헨젤과 그레텔’에서도 컬트한 마력을 뿜어내는 변집사로 분해 개성넘치는 연기를 보였다.

3. 김혜수-Kim Hye Soo

올해 김혜수는 ‘좋지 아니한가’, ‘바람피기 좋은날’, ‘열한번째 엄마’에 출연했다. 이 3편의 영화에서 김혜수는 각각 백수, 자유로운 매력의 유부녀, 아무한테도 정주기 싫고 세상만사에 귀찮은 여자 등 다양한 캐릭터 사이를 활발하게 유영하며 새록새록 다른 매력을 발산했다. 배우로서 제 2의 전성기를 열어준 ‘타짜’의 정마담 만큼 하나로 집약될 수 있는 올해의 대표 캐릭터가 있진 않지만 비중도 매력도 다른 세 인물 속에서 김혜수가 보여준 연기들은 지금도 발전을 거듭하는 진행형 배우로서의 믿음을 확고히 전했다.

4. 강동원-Gang Dong Won

아름다운 외모, 좀 까탈스러운 성격이 배우로서 그가 지닌 장점들을 가릴 때도 있지만 또래 배우들 중에서도 상당히 영민한 행보를 보인 그의 필모그래피는 대중들의 호기심을 자극하기에 충분하다. ‘형사:듀얼리스트’ 이후 다시 한번 이명세 감독과 함께 한 ‘M'이 관객들과의 소통에서 기대만큼의 성과를 얻진 못했지만 기이함과 아름다움, 희극과 비극 사이를 오가는 강동원의 연기는 그에 대한 관객들의 선입견을 적절히 배반하며 자신의 영역을 확장하고자 하는 야심이 읽혀진다.

A pretty face, a bit complex personality, despite that there is some time he is shy of his cherished merits, compared to other movie actors, that pretty bright guy's filmography is sufficient enough to stimulate the public's curiosity. After 'Hyungsa: Duelist', he once again collaborates with Lee Myung Se director in movie 'M', which could not receive as much great outcome as expected from the audience's understanding, but while Gang Dong Won's acting on the interval between the odd and the beauty, comedy and tragedy, went against on almost audience's preconception pertinently, he becomes more ambitious for expansion of his own territory.

at the fisrt time i watched it, i really hard to understand the story line, but at the second and third time..... I was enjoying every scene in it....
