Honestly, the answer was right in that post itself. I know Soompiers don't really like to read much in threads, especially when it is a picture thread. I've been a Soompier from time now and should be quite used to this. But wow, it still amazes me when people don't read before posting especially when it doesn't even involve that much reading

I also suggested that maybe she/he was being sarcastic. Who knows. To the poster, I wasn't being mean about it so I do apologize if you took offense to it.

To familiarize myself with the other people of Asia [not just my own, Filipino, and the Korean culture that's becoming popular in this country], I checked out this thread. [i thought: "Hey, why not start with the beauties among the other people of Asia??]

I see some comments about how these Viet uhlzzangs don't look Viet, etc... but then what makes one 'look Viet?' [What makes one look Korean? Or Chinese? Or Japanese? Or Indonesian? Or Filipino?] Can anyone answer that without resorting to stereotyping and misinformed judgements? I'm not Vietnamese, but I can't help getting offended about how some people say 'they don't look Viet' 'they're not pretty' 'hideous noses' and whatnot, as if they are in any sort position to say so. It's been ages since I last tried to categorize races in terms of what they look like, because frankly, there's so much diversity within any one race that it's impossible to say what kind of physical traits a certain race is supposed to look like. There are Vietnamese and Chinese who look alike, Japanese and Koreans who look alike, Thais and Filipinos who look alike, Indians and Italians who look alike, there Filipinos and Mexicans who look alike etc. That's just the way the world works. If anyone's going to say that a certain Viet doesn't look Viet, that would be the Viets themselves--although frankly, they shouldn't be saying such things either.

'They don't look like other Vietnamese people.' Of course not. They're the beautiful Vietnamese. They don't look like the average Viets anymore than, say, Park Hanbyul or Seo Minwoo look like the average Korean. [Anyone who says PHB and SMW look like the average Korean deserves laughs of ridicule. I know this is essentially a K-Pop forum, but the way some ignorant people have this idea that Koreans are the most beautiful people in the world because of what they see in videos and dramas... it's really laughable.] They don't look like the average Viets, because that's the point--they're PRETTY. If it seems to people that they look East Asian or half-Caucasian or whatever... that's the misinformed bias. The world basically has the same standards of beauty [clear skin--also white skin in the Asian standard, well-defined eyes, high nose, tall and slim body], so beautiful people end up having similarities.

And also, fashion trends in the world are still similar. They're well-dressed people--like the well-dressed people in other places. It's not like every single person in Korea/Chine/Japan/etc is as stylish as their uhlzzangs either.

And insisting the pretty ones aren't pure-Viet or whatever... HONESTLY, unless you belong to some reclusive tribe of mountain people in an uninhabitable desert, it's almost impossible for you to be a pure ANYTHING. Migration and mass migration has been happening in the world since the pre-historic times, so we've all basically 'mixed around'. If beautiful people seem mixed, it's because a lot of mixed people are beautiful. The retention of dominant [therefore more desirable and beautiful] traits in genetics and the 'averageness' concept of beauty contributes to those standards.

It's not my intention to offend anyone or attack their opinions, but making misinformed judgements is what makes this world such a difficult place. Before passing judgements about beauty or making comments about certain races, it's important to inform oneself of the issue first.

Okay, that's done. Now I hope those who haven't tuned me out would now answer my questions regarding the pretty faces that have piqued my curiosity.

Nguyen Thanh Lam: He's cute, but I think his girlfriend is cuter. Is she an uhlzzang too? Pretty girl. Cute couple.

Wanbi: In a case of two Asian races having similarities, he looks like some cute Filipino guys. And in the bottom right pic, he looks a bit like Vic Zhou!! [His shirt is... a bit open. ]

Japan: Not pretty per se, but I can see why people think she's cute. She and her girlfriend look great together... breaks some straight hearts I'll bet, but that's life.

Andy: Whoa. He looks like a STAR. How old is he? Is he already a signed talent? I mean, I can imagine entertainment companies would want to snap him up. He's too good-looking to not be involved with the entertainment world one way or another.

My My: Pretty. I'm guessing she's already a model?

Thanh Van: Cute... as in a poster girl for what people think of as 'cute'! Her skin looks sooooo nice! I'm guessing she's very young. How old is she?

Kelbin: Now that guy is PRETTY. I mean that in the best way possible. His facial structure is quite... perfect. And his eyes are pretty... the kind that so many people try to achieve through surgery. I'm guessing he's also very young.
