Personal/professional (I'm a nurse) opinion but at her height she shouldn't be at that weight. It is pretty unhealthy for a girl at that age. But then again who cares about health when all you've got to depend on is your look to make a living. Her waist is tiny O_o, I'm not sure if she have to wear a corset all the time, or have a couple ribs removed or something. yikes 23 inches.

To put it into perspective. I'm 5ft. 90 lbs. 32.8/25.6/34.5. I'm smaller but her waist is 3 inches smaller than mine. I don't think I can get below 24 even when I was 80 pounds.

I'm kind of concerned for the girls in Vietnam. I stayed there for about a year, traveled a lot. All the young girls I met have these self image issues and really have eating problems that borderline anorexia or bulimia. Yet no one find it strange or tell them that they need nutrient to make their body healthy. Everyone is obsess about weight and not long term health consequences. Of course US teens face the same problem but not to that severe extent that I saw there. It was OK to not eat to be thin. A guy I talked to offhandedly mention how his cousin never eat and passes out all the time to be thin like it was just normal. I would be majorly concerned about her condition and at least talk to her about it or something. Having a little meat on your bone meant that you were FAT.

I watched this documentary called America the Beautiful. Its pretty thought provoking. It talks a lot about conception of beauty and expectation etc...Some of the doctors on Dr. 90210 (Dr. Rey for example) are not board certified plastic surgeon. Even as I watched that, I thought the problem in Asia are much more rampant. I just feel like a lot of parents pushes girls to be thin even if it is kind of detrimental to their health. People says very insensitive things to these poor girls.

One of my cousin who is 18 this year. She is not someone you'd call fat by any standard. She is tall and have a bulkier build, but not fat. I consider her to be in the healthy weight range for her height. She just didn't fit into the stereotypical thin girl image. She got ostracized for it by everyone. Her parents, her relatives, her friends. The amazing thing was this girl was incredibly smart and nice and talented. But the only thing people can focus on was her look. I mean her own family didn't back her up.

Image plays such an important role for woman in Asian society in general that I find it kind of disturbing. When you send in your interview, if you're a girl you have to include your picture with it as well. The picture is part of the hiring process. I find it very misogynistic.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to be beautiful for your own sake, but when it's practically shoved down your throat like that...

Any who I probably shouldn't have gone on a rant about that. All the kiddos are cute. I had too much caffeine.

I think her stats (elly's) are comparable to Dita Von Teese. I have read that Dita has been wearing corsets ever since her teenage years that explains her body shape which is similar to Elly's. Is it really possible to remove ribs?????? I mean there used to be rumor that Thalia had her ribs removed but then she said that it's not true, she was just born that way lacking two ribs or something.

Yes its possible to remove ribs, gives you more of an hour glass figure. Victorian era ladies tighten their corset so much that they couldn't breath and frequently faint as a result, hence the fainting chair/couches.

@munto- D: Thats not true for most of my family at all, they're actually the opposite. Right now, I'm under 5 foot and about 95 pounds and they always scold me. It doesn't matter if my brother eats a small bowl of rice but when I do it's suddenly "Troi oi! Don't complain when you get sick in the future!" or "Why are you trying to starve yourself? Your body's going to get messed up". It's really frustrating! However for my cousin's mom's side of the family, they always make fun of her weight = =.

1. Her face is not fat at all, her face structure is VERY well defined, not to mention she has an egg head shape that is worshipped in the Korean culture (not so much in Vietnamese, but she's still very pretty)

2. Her nose is real, you can tell a fake and a real nose.

3. If she ever did cosmetic surgery, her popularity in Vietnam will go down, and I'm pretty sure she will get a large amount of anti-fans.
