LIM Soo-jung (All About My Wife [2012]) and YOO Yeon-seok (A Werewolf Boy [2012]) partnered for Secret Temptation (d. YOON Jae-gu, p. Bidangil Pictures), which cranked-up early June in Macao. As the story is set in Macao’s casino and yacht, the Secret Temptation team headed for the city of dreams.
A man and a woman are tempted by an offer to change their lives and aboard a yacht. They fall deep in love and lust. Ji-yeon (LIM) was betrayed by a friend and had debt on her doorstep. With an offer that claims to free her from the situation, she takes it and meets Sung-ryeol (YOO). The subtle and sensual relationship between the two is to be captured with the colorful background of Macao’s cityscape.
After the shoots wrapped up, LIM said, “Many important scenes were taken place in Macao, including the meeting of the characters. During the shoot here, I lived as Ji-yeon and fell in love when she did, hurt when she was hurt, and felt conflicted when she was conflicted. I’m both excited and happy that we’ve finished it, but also sad that this is the last shoot.” YOO also added and expressed his affection for the film, “I believe the shoots that took place in Macao will definitely enrich the film even more. Also, it is personally a memorable shoot for me. It is my first time ever to shoot the ending cut of a film. I’m both proud of myself and also feel bittersweet. I can’t wait to look at the final product”.
Director YOON Jae-gu said, “I’m feeling a flood of emotions. The two actors were such a great help. I’m so lucky to have these two who were able to bring out the exact characters from the scenario. I look forward to finishing up in post-production and presenting it to the audiences soon.”
Secret Temptation is YOON’s latest film after Secret in 2009. Other than LIM and YOO, Lee Geung-young, PARK Cheol-min, JIN Gyeong and Dohee are also part of the cast.

Im Soo-jung is nervous ahead of return to acting

BY JUNG HYUN-MOK [lee.sunmin@joongang.co.kr] INSIDE Korea JoongAng Daily

26065202.jpg

Im Soo-jung is nervous about her first interview in three years - so much so that the veteran actress requested a set of questions in advance.

She came back with a tablet PC filled with answers. Just a quick glance showed that she had taken a long time to prepare.

“I’m really nervous because it is the first interview I’m doing for my comeback to the screen after three years,” said Im.

In her new movie, “Perfect Proposal,” Im plays the lead role Ji-yeon, who is betrayed by a friend and is being chased by moneylenders. When finally cornered, she is asked to seduce a multibillionaire and inherits all his financial assets. The movie will open June 4.

Once she started to talk, it didn’t take long for her to get comfortable, and she ended up sharing more than she had prepared in the interview with the JoongAng Ilbo, an affiliate of the Korea JoongAng Daily.

Q.Why did you choose a thriller movie for your comeback?

A.I’ve always been curious about the genre because I’ve never done it. The two features I did before were romantic comedies, so I wanted to move away from that and act in a piece where I could express my innermost feelings.

What did you like about this movie?

After I got the script in summer 2013 I read it in one go. I decided to be part of the movie right away. The story is strong. The main character, Ji-yeon, faces unpredictable events, and I thought the audience would also get sucked into the story. I also read the original novel afterwards.

How is the script different from the original novel?

How the lead character reacts in a certain situation is different. In the original novel, the lead character just collapsed when it came to a situation that she thought she couldn’t ever get out of, but the character in the movie tries to fight. I think the director tried to change the part as women nowadays have different characters in general than in the 1950s when the original [novel] was written. However, the script did not change the part where women have desire to be Cinderella and meet Prince Charming and wish for their lives to be turned upside down.

What are the things you were most concerned about while acting as this character?

I was debating how much I would show about this woman’s desires. She is not exactly a planner, but she is also not obedient. I tried to refrain from calculating every move and just express what felt natural.

Not so long ago, you wrote on your online fan page that you now feel like you’ve found the true joy in acting. What does this mean?

Acting wasn’t so easy for me. I was pressured by responsibility, my own greed, and all types of emotions. Last year, I filmed two movies back to back, so I spent most of my time shooting scenes. It was just too much fun, so I realized that acting isn’t something I should agonize over but should have fun with. I want to film many more pieces and I won’t be afraid to try diverse ones.

You seem more introverted than outgoing. How are you going to communicate better with the public?

It’s true that I’m not so close with the public when it comes to communication. It’s not that I want to play some tricks to look mysterious. I just behave as I want, and this is what has happened. I don’t know how to talk in a fun way on entertainment shows, and I don’t like going online on social networking services.

I always contemplate setting up my own ways to communicate with fans. I’ve been dreaming about becoming a writer, so I have been writing everyday. I hope to show some of my essays or novels soon. This doesn’t mean that I’m confident about my writing. I think I need to not be afraid of showing my work to others to really write in my own style.

[Interview] "Perfect Proposal" Im Soo-jeong, "I am an actress and I can't help it"

Source: TV Daily via Hancinema.net

photo599344.jpg

This is the first movie she's done in three years since "Everything about my Wife". "Perfect Proposal" is a movie based on an original called "Woman of Hay".

"Perfect Proposal" is a crime mellow about Ji-yeon (Im Soo-jeong) who is in a desperate situation and Seong-yeol (Yoo Yeon-seok) who suggests something that will change her life completely.

"Perfect Proposal" is adorable according to Im Soo-jeong. Director Yoon Jae-goo thought about her when he created it. She had to say 'yes'.

After Im Soo-jeong came on board, the cast and staff came along and Im Soo-jeong can't thank Yoon Jae-goo and the rest of the staff enough.

"Perfect Proposal" means another thing to Im Soo-jeong and that's because it made her 'grow'. She had a lot to do since she appeared in almost 50 out of 60 scenes. She also played Ji-yeon who has a variety of emotional statuses.

photo599345.jpg

Throughout the making of the film, Im Soo-jeong had a hard time with the emotions that occurred out of her will. She was a team with Seong-yeol with the same target but he was also her competitor. Therefore, she couldn't rely on him as much as she wanted and deal with it on her own. It was a lonely and tough time for her.

However, as time passed Im Soo-jeong realized how much she'd grown. She thinks she's become flexible. She opened up her five senses and went with the flow when it came to acting.

Not only that, she's felt change as an actress. "I was busy doing my own thing when I was younger. However, now that I am more experienced, I can communicate in technical terms". She's grateful that she's got a wider vision now.

The movie happens in mainly three areas; Macao, a yacht and in Busan. Ji-yeon shows different emotions in different places. No wonder she's worried about her act.

photo599346.jpg

Im Soo-jeong claims she thought of getting fresh air whenever the location changed. From a desperate life in Macao to a luxurious life on a yacht and another failure in Busan, it made her feel like she was waking up from a dream. She didn't try to change her emotions just because it was a different place. She claims the situations spoke for Ji-yeon.

The climax of Ji-yeon's emotions is after the chairman's (Lee Kyeong-yeong) death. "It was hard", Im Soo-jeong says, "I really wanted to leave the feelings behind just like Ji-yeon did".

As a result, Im Soo-jeong felt bad for her fellow casts as she couldn't smile a lot because of the pressure. She is also grateful for Lee Kyeong-yeong for doing that for her and making the atmosphere a livelier one.

Actress Im Soo-jeong has a nickname following her around and that is 'young'. Therefore, she's usually done characters that are younger than her actual age until "Everything about my Wife" which changed everything. Then Yoon Jae-goo brought out something from her she'd never seen before.

photo599347.jpg

"I get a variety of offers now. From horror to mellow and a woman in her 30s. It's fun trying to see what I'd do better in. I really feel like I'm an actress now".

Im Soo-jeong's absence was unintentional. It took her 3 years to choose and make two movies but the later process took a long time and caused her to be absent for 3 years.

However, she claims she was working all the time but just never came up through the surface. "I have to make sure two things come out within the next year".

"There was a time when I was doing two things at once. It was fun doing that again. I knew I was destined to become an actress".
