UEE and Jung Il Woo's child counterparts look like their doppelgangers for 'Golden Rainbow' + preview released

After-School-UEE-jung-il-woo_1382675777_

Upcoming MBC weekend drama 'Golden Rainbow' released a preview of After School's UEE and Jung Il Woo as well as their child counterparts!

The adult-child actor pairings include UEE - Kim Yoo Jung, Jung Il Woo - Oh Jae Moo, Cha Ye Ryun - Song Yoo Jung, and Lee Jae Yoon - Seo Young Joo. The lead cast is especially receiving attention for how similar their child counterparts are in terms of visuals, making the drama more realistic.

The drama will talk about the story of 7 orphans who go through hardships together and have a bond even stronger than that of blood-related siblings. UEE will play the role of Baek Won, the oldest of the orphans, Kim Yoo Jung will be playing her child counterpart, and Kim Sang Joong will be playing her adoptive father. Jung Il Woo will play the role of Do Young, who grows up in an estranged family after his father Jin Ki (Jo Min Ki) remarries and later becomes a prosecutor. He meets Baek Won who becomes a strong source of support for him and develops a romance with her. Cha Ye Ryun plays the role of Baek Won's (UEE) older sister Chun Won, and Lee Jae Yoon plays the role of Baek Won's older brother Man Won.

'Golden Rainbow' will premiere following 'Scandal' on November 2 at 10 PM KST!

Teasers and stills for new weekender Gold Rainbow

by girlfriday | October 27, 2013

Rainbow16.jpg

With Scandal and Goddess of Marriage having completed their runs over the weekend, it’s time to make way for the new batch of dramas with Thrice Married Woman headed to SBS (it’ll premiere a week later), and Gold Rainbow premiering next week on MBC. That’s rather soon given that I feel like they just barely confirmed their lead actor, but with a childhood portion that’ll cover a hefty 10 episodes, it’s almost like having a miniseries’ running time to prep.

Leads UEE (Jeon Woo-chi) and Jung Il-woo (The Moon That Embraces the Sun) haven’t even started shooting their portion of the drama yet, but they went to visit the set in Busan, where their younger counterparts Kim Yoo-jung (May Queen) and Oh Jae-mu (Firstborn) were busy setting the stage for their love story to come.

Kim Yoo-jung and UEE star as Baek Won, the leader of a group of orphans who band together to make their own family under the care of surrogate father Kim Sang-joong (The Chaser). He appears to be a kind benevolent ajusshi for once and I’m looking forward to seeing Bad Daddy play a warm character, though part of me will never be able to turn off that niggling feeling that at any moment, his true (eeevil) agenda will be uncovered.

Rainbow17.jpg

Do Ji-won (I Miss You) plays Baek Won’s mother, and we pretty much learn from the first teaser that this is going to be your classic birth secret story, where Baek Won gets torn from her mother’s arms, and Mom is left to believe her child died along with her husband. It seems like it’s an evil mother-in-law at the center of the tragic turn of events, with a guilty-looking Jo Min-ki (Two Weeks) lurking around. He’ll be father to Oh Jae-mu/Jung Il-woo… which might make this You Killed My Father, Prepare to Love Me And Then Be A Noble Idiot About It?

The love square will include two other members of Baek Won’s found family, played by Cha Ye-ryun (Royal Family) and Lee Jae-yoon (Heartless City) (and child actors Song Yoo-jung and Seo Young-joo). They’ll complicate matters as a jealous and ambitious sister, and a protective oppa.

The drama is described as the success story of seven orhpans with bonds tighter than blood, who overcome extreme hardship by sticking together when they had no one else in the world. I’m hoping that the underdog success story (and romance, of course) outweighs the tragedy and makes it worth a watch. I guess we find out next week.

Gold Rainbow premieres November 2.

‘Golden Rainbow’ actors meet child stars

Oct 30,2013

Article.aspx?aid=29795990
Uee of girl group Afterschool and actor Jung Il-woo of MBC drama “The Moon Embracing the Sun” visited a filming site in Busan to give encouragement to two child actors who will play the younger versions of their characters in an upcoming drama.

The visit was a surprise as the stars had not been scheduled to start filming yet for weekend drama “Golden Rainbow” on MBC, which is set to air on Nov. 2.

Child star Kim Yu-jeong of MBC drama “The Moon Embracing the Sun” plays a younger version of Uee, and Oh Jae-mu of 2012 film “A Company Man” plays Jung’s younger self.

Both older actors spent some time talking through their characters with the drama’s production staff and spent some time taking pictures together.

The staff reportedly said that it is important for the child stars to communicate with the people who play the grown-up versions of their characters, as the younger actors will establish the foundation for the storyline in the first 10 episodes.
