@glassnokamen UGh...why do my notifications not work anymore??  So something is coming on the LJG VLive channel (10:50pm my time - off to set clock)

I love that JG is having such creative fun with being Hyun Joon and using Criminal Minds in his IG's.  The added outtakes were frosting on the cake. I wonder who his partner in crime is...the one filming all these?

Even though I love seeing all the BTS photos, the frustrating part is that it shows me that scenes were filmed...but we didn't get to see them. Case in point...EOD bombing scenes and now it looks like some scenes with his fake sis.  More here: http://program.tving.com/tvn/tvncriminalminds/9/Board/View?b_seq=79

This isn't in the room where he shot the Unsub.

@pixelsticks I can't understand why so many scenes didn't make it to the episodes. And they tortured us showing what we lost in those BTS pictures and videos. I feel robbed. I want more LJG in my screen not only in pictures (the number of LJG pictures is huge compared to other members of the cast,  not that I' m complaining.)

BTW seems to me that we have more LJG scenes in odd episodes and more KH scenes in even episodes. Then odd episodes have more action and feel more fast and even episodes are slower and have more gore scenes.  Will it be a pattern?

Any way I still have to watch episode 4 with subs,  but I think I like odd episodes better :D

@antoniaclamens @pixelsticks I feel the same way, there are many Joon Gi scenes that in the end were cut or weren't shown in show, such as scene of motorcycle chase of episode 4, in the show this scene ends when Hyun Joon ran over the suspect and he falls to the ground, while in the trailer ends when Hyun Joon handcuffed him and even they showed us a picture handcuffing him.

What was shown in episode 4.

What was shown in the trailer.

@lisethvr you're so right! that's why i felt i was missing something in that scene.. i already watched it in the preview.. i don´t understand just a few more seconds couldn´t do any harm... why was the scene edited so... i'm starting to worry, and not because of this scene. But they edited so much of the bomb scene and the reunion with his sister, and they where important scenes in the drama

[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Criminal Minds" Episode 4

photo874348.jpg

In the latest bizarre misstep, "Criminal Minds" attempts of all things, serious emotional catharsis based on catastrophic fate. This isn't a brand of storytelling I dislike on general principle, it's just, that's the kind of thing you're supposed to do at the end of a series for a proper climax. Doing at the beginning is nonsensical. How in the world is Gi-hyeong's personal life supposed to be relevant to his work if we only have te vaguest idea of who Gi-hyeong is as a person right now?

Although really, I can dispense with the "we" talk. Recall that Hyeon-joon, our perspective character, doesn't know anything about Gi-hyeong either aside from his professional reputation. Imagine that you started working with a relatively famous person in your professional field, and then you have to deal with a situation where his family might die. I mean good grief, awkward doesn't even begin to describe the emotions at play there, although that's the best description I could come up with for how I felt by the ending.

Aside from not knowing the characters, I'm also troubled how so far we've been given no reason to think of them as particularly competent in any way. While Gi-hyeong's trick with the curtain at the end was fairly funny, the fact that the villain immediately counters with his own trick only calls attention to how arbitrary the whole construction is. The winner of the final encounter does not achieve victory through logically foreshadowed reasons, but simply because the script says so.

The consequences of what happens are also horribly understated. I can't imagine that Gi-hyeong's temperament is going to be rewritten going forward considering the traumatic series of events he's gone through, because it would break the entire format of the drama. Again, as a season ender, this would work fine, since characters can be subtly rewritten between scenes and the changes will come off as plausible. But that's just not practical in the South Korean drama format.

I don't have a clue what the production team is going for here. These cheap tricks at trying to create character sympathy are honestly a little insulting. They only work on the purely visceral level. Granted, considering all the misery porn we get of suffering characters who have fallen by the serial killer's machinations, maybe that's the entire point and I'm the one in the wrong for wanting a well structured manhunt story. Although really, it's perfectly possible to do both at the same time!

Review by William Schwartz

"Criminal Minds" is directed by Lee Jeong-hyo and Yang Yoon-ho, written by Hong Seung-hyeon and features Son Hyun-joo, Lee Joon-gi, Moon Chae-won, Lee Sun-bin, Yoo Sun and Go Yoon.

I cannot fathom how much content is on the editing room floor. Well, it's not on the floor anymore. It's on some Hard Drive storage somewhere. Ahhh the studly tackle scene didn't make it into the show. :( Heck even the front helmet visor is all black on the show.  In the pics, it's clear - you see HJ's face (but that might have been what the photographer wanted for the still shot- I would have).

I even feel for LH getting a only few words here and there.

I cannot imagine what it must be like to be an editor in Korea with this process.  The extreme time constraints, how to fit all the content in yet still make it flow, pressures from up above and from the viewers...UGH.

But new Namoo pics? Squee! It's getting hard to keep up with this.

@willenette Mr. Schwartz is brutal, but he makes some salient points. This was a hard episode to watch and does feel like it should have been more towards the end of the series.  Unless EVEN more Richard Simmons is coming. Or it is to remove KKH from the forefront and give time to/reason for HJ (or SW) to come to the forefront?

I will try to update the Director's List before the next episode airs.  I have some big RL projects and even RL visitors coming to stay at my house this month so my fangirling time may be severely restricted (unless I want to out myself and be a horrible host).

crime drama lead: *broods in a corner, loner™, is forced into gatherings*
hyun joon: *readily joins team dinner bc team = family*

crime drama lead: *sits quietly at team dinner, eventually cracks a smile, everyone is shocked*
hyun joon: *actually gets involved and has a good time with everyone*

crime drama lead: *partners just slow you down*
hyun joon: *essentially teams up with Sun Woo before even joining NCI*

crime drama lead: *hot headed, wants to get the job done asap, refuses to listen*
hyun joon: *hot headed, wants to get the job done asap - but still waits for instructions and consults team with his ideas*

Still here!

After episode number 3 I was in awe. I mean LJG melted my heart totally with his scenes with kids. And yes - he can attract any woman at any age - child, grown up even a grandma I bet!

But then the 4th episode came and cedarwood changed into one big waterfall of tears. I can't believe what happened in episode no.4. I... I just can't. I mean those scenes when THIS happens (I bet you know what I'm talking about) - it's perfect. It kills your heart, I was sick of terror and couldn't believe that - yes, IT happened. :(:(:(:(:(

And this irritates me the most:

Oh... so there is only one acceptable way to make a drama? Nothing can change? Or what??? What about Alfter Hitchcock and his saying "the bomb explodes first and then the tension rises"???? Who the hell is this idiot who wrote that "review"? We don't know what more the drama has to offer. Dang... I got furious.

@willenette I know those are not your words but I don't know how to change quoting.

Anyway the drama is good. V. good. And to me my opinion about the show matters the most. :) (And those who agree with me tehehhehee)

Hi cedarwood, ye, dear - I do understand it. Besides, you can't change quoting since I was the one who posted the reviews. I noticed that most are not always convinced of his reviews not only for LJK's recent drama but to some others dramas as well. I couldn't agree with you more - his drama is good.
